- I am proud to present a 1CC (no continues used!) for the US version of Ghosts'n Goblins!
This run was accomplished on September 14, 2013. This run was played on my Japanese arcade machine on default game settings, and video was taken via a direct feed.
This is a really really tough game to crack on your own. Unlike my other videos (which are mostly my own strategies), I used mostly strategies I learned from watching various superplays online.
This is the US version of the game, which is the hardest version of the game (I think) due to the Satan boss (stages 5 and 6) taking 8 hits to kill! On later revisions (and on the PS2 port, they only take 4 hits each and have WAY easier flight patterns). This is enough to make the run highly dependent on luck, way moreso than its sequel Ghouls'n Ghosts, as these enemies have extremely random behavior

Although you only have to clear the second loop to get the true clear, I nearly made it past the third loop! I am extremely proud of this run.
This is the second game in the ghouls series that I've cleared on 1 credit! Next up is Super Ghouls'n Ghosts (SNES) and Ultimate Ghosts'n Goblins (PSP).
The key to beating arcade games in this manner is to just keep practicing, but not enough to burn yourself out. I only put in a couple credits a day for a few months to pull this off, except for a few parts (stage 5 and 6 boss fights!) in which is really pays off to credit feed and practice.

Such geniuses the coders. This game was made in pure assembly language!!! hence it's fast pace and small file size!
the game had a lot of code glitches to exploit. Fire Bridge level... had a key glitch, pass Dragon without killing it. as you start on the bridge run up to near the starting point of the dragon. you will see a small crack in the fence railing. run to that crack then turn back to the beginning of the bridge. glitch will kick in, TAKE KEY FOR NEXT ENTRY. same glitch on the 7th lvl after reaching the top, don't delay, time is critical here. once you activate the 2 guardian demons drop off the edge of the platform and drop all the way back to the bottom to force the demons off the top of the screen. TAKE KEY FOR ENTRY. only problem is to climb back before time expires.

Seems to be no sped run for this. Given it's hardness, likely bugs and the errors in this one it must be a good candidate. There are speedrun records on the NES but the arcade is rock hard

A friend told me about this game and how incredibly hard it is. I love the bad English at the end of the run! "Strongth"! Ha! 😆

Why does the game go into rainbows when too many sprites are on screen?

This was so awesome! I used this as a strategy guide for my own playthrough’s and I got to say some of these tricks I had no idea of! The unicorn glitch on stage 6 is especially helpful so I don’t lose armor and the rapid fire glitch is a blessing as well lol. Thanks for this and a terrific run!

A rather courageous run, my friend.
This game was so hard as a kid, I hadn't seen past level 2 until just now. It's like a whole brand new game to me. I'm gonna be 44 in 9 days. It's 5:23 am. I'm really sad and alone. This game was the tits back in the day. Have a good one, y'all.
