    Great video!
    I love these engines, they are very underrated.
    I have a 6G75 fitted to my Mitsubishi Magna (originally a 6G74) here in Australia (it’s the Diamante in other parts of the world).
    I’ve had it fitted with performance camshafts and coincidentally ended up with the same power & torque figures as yours so well done!

    • @SandTrack
      @SandTrack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's amazing thank you for getting in touch. Is the cam shaft you fitted on a mivec 6g75 the same one on the pajero? If yes, where did you get the cam shaft from?

    • @GForceVRX
      @GForceVRX 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sand & Track no it’s quite different actually.
      In Australia we don’t have the Mivec version, we have only the regular non Mivec head version of the 6g75.
      The performance camshafts (Graham Bell camshafts) were fitted to my car about 7 years ago.
      Graham was a well known racing engine builder here in Aus.
      But unfortunately he is very old now and has now retired

    Love it! Very dope what you did. I have 2 questions. One, after the upgrades, have you noticed a change in the petrol consumption if you're driving from destination A to B (e.g. home to work) at an almost constant speed (e.g. 100km or 120km or less)? Does it drain more petrol than when it was in its original form without the upgrades?

    i squeezed a considerable amount more for way less than rebuilding the 3.8 with pistons spark plugs high flow cats and a muffler ,i just went to my local wreckers and bought an LS1 ,found an engineer to make me an adapter plate fror the 460LE transmission to bolt up to the transfer case and now with a maffless tune headers single three inch exhaust and a VCM710 camshaft it puts out near 488 horsepower at the wheels ,i have upgraded the fuel pump and stage 2 fuel injectors which flow close to 1100cc,all for under 5000 dollars ,lighter engine more power more reliable and better much better fuel economy

I am thinking to do the first phase and fixing a small turbo ( with air cooler, connecting to the main radiator to cool the turbo, connecting to engine oil cooler for lubrications) with no change on engine. do you think it will work ???!!!

  • @noble7104
    @noble7104 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    This is really impressive, as you have gathered all the required parts and data (in a DIY style) , coupled them together to arrive at the result you were looking for. This will surely be an eye opener for alot of Pajero users who wants to modify for more performance. Great work.
    Also wanted to know your feedback on 'Unichip' as I'm currently looking into two options i.e. between 'Unichip' or 'Remap the stock cpu' to get more performance, where the major purpose is for desert driving
    1. Unichip vs 'Remapping of Stock CPU'. which would you advise for a beginner looking to boost the performance of a pajero 3.8 (petrol)
    2. Is Unichip safe, as the car's engine or other components will be pushed to extreme limits , as I don't want any of those hassles.
    looking forward to your feedback

    • @SandTrack
      @SandTrack  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Noble thank you very much for the support, it indeed was mostly DIY projects with trial and error all along. To answer you:
      Question 1: Unichip is probably the best upgrade I have installed on the car. It basically helps tune the engine air, fuel, timing to work better with the performance parts and get the most out of them. The Pajero Gen 4 as opposed to the previous Gen 3 is very detuned by the manufacturer for emission purposes and has electronic limits so when you hit a high RPM the stock ECU kills your power which is not helpful when offroading and trying to climb high dunes. Unichip helps tune the car to perform better and fixes the RPM issue.
      The reason why I like Unichip is its a piggy back ECU, meaning you are not messing with the actual car ECU which if it gets damaged will be expensive to repair. Unichip intercepts signals from the cars sensors and alters them so its less intrusive than playing with the engine ECU. I have installed Unichip with the RPM cut off module which helps keep the power going when the car hits 6500RPM, the car keeps giving power which is amazing for climbing high dunes.
      Question 2: With any modifications , we are naturally pushing the car to its limits. Meaning there is always risk of components giving up. However from personal experience I have not seen any issues and non of the cars in our Pajero club have had issues with Unichip. I just wished I had done the unichip upgrade way before as it makes a massive difference offroad. The car transforms in a beast :)

    Hi, It’s interesting to see all the works you’ve done on your Pajero. Couple of days ago I had some knocking sound from the engine and it went away. I drove around 100kms since then without any issues. I took the car to the garage for spark plug change and when they removed the inlet manifold, I found a shocking scene. One of the butterflies broken into 3 pieces and two pieces were in the neck and 1 piece and screws missing.
    Now, the car is removed inlet manifold and waiting for a good garage to remove the head.
    2008 3.8 SWB with 230k kms. I need your advise if you have time please bro.
    1. Butterflies and the rubber orings or bushings available separately? There was a vacuum leak through the front white plastic piece. I’m thinking if I re-do the engine, I have to do this as well.

    lol the whole butterfly valve failing and falling into the engine and destroying it a common 3.8 problem huh , had the same issue with my 06 3.8 back in august of 2020. spent around 11,000dhs in rebuilding it with almost 75% of the engine new . the problem that occurs here is the break in period for all the parts , the guy said to drive it for 1,000 kms before trying to do anything . we did that and replaced the oil after 1k kms , so after about 3,000 kms later we take it to the desert , 15 mins in and the piston rods break . there it goes for another 2 weeks of repair and a bill of 5k . now im in a break in period of 10,000 kms before I can even cross 120 kmph , u can imagine how frustrating that is trying to drive on UAE roads 😅. So yes , back to your video , I kinda sorta have some questions if u don't mind .. 1. did u have a break in period for your parts that u changed ? 2. does it make sense to start putting in more money than I already have into modding the 6g75 3.8 that I have in my car which is bone stock as of now or should I just drive it till it dies and get a 5.3 Sierra and start work on that ?😂 3.the mods you've done to your Pajero , are they all legal or did u have to get papers for it ? and 4. how bad is the fuel economy now ?keeping in mind it was garbage when it was bone stock 😅✌🏻. thing is I have a 3.0 v6 98' that has crossed 500k kms and I wanna swap its engine and start a off-road build on it , but I cant seem to find a engine that fits , I wanted to swap it to a 3.8 of the newer models but apparently nothing after the year 2000 fits , so ill have to put in a 3.5 from back in the day and start from there🤦‍♂️but do I wanna do that when I have a 3.8 in another car? and bone stock its acually good in the desert even when compared to my 400hp Y62 patrol... i really want a off-road focused car in my garage so that I dont have to go out of my way and take a daily driver to the desert and have to face the hassle of spending another 3 weeks in the workshop after .

      Hi Rahul thanks for reaching out. Here are a few thoughts and answers. On the break in period I did it for 5000 km. First 1000km I was driving maximum 3k RPM and then changed oil and then afterwards I started raising the rpm limit and driving it normal without reving the engine fully until I crossed 5000 KM. So without knowing what led to your piston rod breaking, these are typically hard to break and most of the time has to do with bad oil circulation, yet I can't be sure and hopefully your mechanic would have figured it out. Fuel economy has not changed much honestly after the upgrades. The Pajero 3.8 is known for its butterflies going loose and damaging the engine. I had mine welded in so they never come off! Here is a video explaining what happened in my car th-cam.com/video/FlSj3_gWsaY/w-d-xo.html As for Swapping out to a non mitsubishi engine its doable but is not very easy on our cars as our ecu and wiring schematics are not easy to deal with like American cars. Its been attempted from what I hear and the car will be riddled with non functioning electronics and errors. I would suggest to perhaps try to modify up and tune a mitsubishi engine. Your other route is to also add a bullet super charger they are design and made to plug into our cars with no modification bulletcars.com/superchargers/mitsubishi/pajero-v6-mivec/

    Bro how does ur car bounce of the rev limmiter mine shifts to the next gear even in trip tonic

    • @SandTrack
      @SandTrack  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man two things have to be done:
      1. For pajeros 2008 to 2011 model they do not hold the gear even in sport mode/ tip tronic and it's a problem when you need momentum during a climb. We apply the omani gear hack to hold the gear which is by disabling the output speed sensor. We basically put a switch on the output speed sensor to turn it on and off when needed. I have created a full guide on how to do the Pajero gear hold hack in the attached file here. Most of our group have tested and been using it for years with no issues. In fact it turns the car into a beast when climbing as you get the full rpm range and allows you to downshift anytime when losing power: www2.pajeroclub.com.au/forum/showthread.php?p=618678
      2. To make the rpm bounce we install unichip piggy back ECU with the rpm cut off module. Visit your local unichip dealer they should be able to help you out. Show them my car video and they will know what to do

      No doubt the Patrol is a great car with heritage and solid mechanics and indeed can be tuned nicely. The Pajero is a much harder car to modify as you need to get creative and DIY most parts and more satisfaction in the process as a result
