Vlad has given them a extreme progressive touch that makes them have their own sound now... they're not another metal band now... you hear any of their new songs and you instantly know it's Jinjer... I love it, and I'm sure they will have some heave-as-f tracks as well in their new album... like they did with Wallflower
I would have to say I agree with that for sure. And I just listen to Vortex, which is the first song of the Wallflower albums I've listened to, and that was so heavy and so unique.
Caught the premier, love the song. Reminding me a bit of "Vortex" and "Wallflowers" with it starting clean for a good bit before the harsh come in. Description said that this is "just a tease of what’s to come very soon". Looking forward to what that might be. Yea the audio issue I mentioned in chat is my end, sorry.
In 2:10, the Scientist one is reference to Marie Curie, she was the Chemistry Nobel in 1911, and one of the best in her area in history. It's a reference of the feminism.
Hmm 🤔 Given that they're from Ukraine, and they previously spoke up on this and even made a song referencing how it had (at that point) already been going on for 105 days, I can't help but think this a more subtle approach in speaking out about that. Also the references to the notable female figures throughout history almost felt/feels like a proclamation of her spirit and a sort of "f-- you!" to the "it's a man's world" presence. I can't say for certain, but it's powerful and the music represents that beautifully!!
Just imagine being Tati and have to put vocals on so complex music... And I do not want to be reincarnate in a Eugene's bass rope, because it should hurt, he massacre it lol.
my take away was _slightly_ different ; but not enough to quibble over (and i'd love to hear Tati discuss it at some point). i took it as life thrusting her in to a "warrior" role, with a longing to just be able to live a more traditionally "feminine" role. as for the video, as far as i could tell, these were _specific_ references (all women occupying traditionally-male roles): >Cleopatra >Joan of Arc >whats-her-name from Game of Thrones (at least, i _assume_ that was the "Iron Throne") >Marie Curie (the only one who wasn't a "warrior queen" , so i'm wondering how much creative input the videographer had, but also at the same time has me questioning my personal interpretation ..... i would certainly HOPE that this wasn't meant to be as shallow and vapid is just another "woman in a man's world" cliché) the music was really good. not an instant classic, but still really good. (i'd prefer a _little_ more dynamic range .... this is one of those songs where a lead solo would elevate it to a 10/10) i could be nitpicky ; but i'll save that for when i hear the rest of the album
Kind of a slow burn. I like it but I think the video is a bit distracting. If you listen to it without the video it sounds great. Love the progressive vibes. Hopefully we get some more good songs incoming.
I absolutely love this song. I find it to be based AF. In a world that wants to cloud the line between men and women, and their strengths and weaknesses, Tatiana comes out screaming about wanting to be a woman. I love it, I love it, I love it. She has such a pagan druidic female presence, which is it's own strength. The world needs more of this celebration of the feminine. Edit. After hearing your take on the song, I have to say it's cool how we can have such different takes, with no real evidence to discount one of them. I don't think we are far off in the source of her angst. I just feel like you see it as her lamenting the need to prove herself, and I see it as her lamenting that even has to do the things a man does, and that she just wants to be a woman. Maybe I'm projecting past songs into this one, where I feel like she has a very pagan, wiccan sense of her relationship with the world.
I totally get your take. I think some of it can be about being an outstanding woman in the real world, not necessarily to complete in a mans world but to co-exist and be fearless.
@@RustySabita The part that loses me in that is (in regards to wearing the armor) "No, it doesn't suit me And it feels so heavy" "So my gentleness is turned into rigidity And once soft the skin is nothing but the scale" I feel like those are mentioned in lament, not celebration. To me the whole thing feels like "Why are you ruining my unique value, to force me to compete for generic value". It feels like an argument for the need for men, so we don't lose our nurturers and beauty. Put this in the context of their motherland, a lot of men are being lost, and a lot of women are being left to be mothers and fathers.
@saltydroog854 Reading those lyrics now, I could only guess that it could be saying forging my path needs preparation and protection, but it is at a cost for now. The lyrics dont state this but naturally, a person who hasn't worn armour before, it will be heavy and hard to move in until the person builds up muscle and adapts to the weight, which could mean stronger physically and mentally. The gentleness could be taken for being soft/weak, and in terms of being rigid, it could be being an immovable of this path and not so soft and innocent? So, it's growing tough and strong and mentally strong. It could mean something more pessimistic or something else entire, but Tatiana represents smart, powerful women in the video, so whatever the true message could be, it is ultimately a positive one.

The influential women depicted here appear to be Frida Kahlo, Marie Curie, Joan of Arc, and Cleopatra.
@@pretendgingerThanks, I could only make out Cleopatra.
Joan of Arc? Given their nationality (and the fact that she's way more badass), I was thinking Olga of Kiev.
@@uncle_thulhu Joan of Arc is commonly depicted in plate armor. That's why I think it's her.
Tatiana in the images of Joan of Arc, Marie Curie, Cleopatra, Frida at the beginning of the video
Thank buddy. Couldn't really make them out myself. 🤘🙌🙏

@chriso6719 I'll have to listen to those songs soon and see if I hear it too.
And it's no bother. :)
@@RustySabita not that the songs sound similar, just that the harsh doesn't come in til later on. But yeah, both good songs.
Wallflower and Vortex had a baby, and they named it Someone's Daughter! I love it!

Thanks, buddy. I thought as much too when it came to the lyrics.
I think one was Madam Curie, another Joan of Ark and another Cleopatra.
Yeah, it looks like it. They went all out on the production of this one.
Pure progressive metal. A lot of the chords and harmonies have classical leanings. Technical prowess is massive and still growing.
100% The band is technically sound.

I see your point. It's a good message of that's the case.

oh, and i guess i missed Frida Kahlo
(so now i really am questioning my initial take🤷♂)
I'm sure I saw something from Tati about the messaging, and I think it was kind of half what I said and what you said.

I'll have to try that and see if I can hear what you mean.
