  • Strapping my camping gear to an e-bike and building a bushcraft chair. A bit of an oxymoron perhaps. Still fun to try new things. Hope you enjoy.
My dog and I are based in British Columbia, Canada and spend the weekends solo adventuring, exploring mountains, camping and paddling. New videos every week.
    Join me on PATREON bit.ly/patreon-madison-clysdale
Thanks for being here and thank you for supporting mine and Kyro's adventures. We love making videos and Patreon will help us put more time and effort into giving back to you :).
Your views and comments on TH-cam also mean the world.
    Cheers!

I love that you're honest that you're learning and show your mistakes. It's encouraging for newbies like me. So many camping youtubers act like experts about everything they're doing in a way that makes it feel unachievable.

Good on you for getting out there and trying new things. It's refreshing to watch someone learning and experiencing things new to them. I feel like more people who go camping should spend less time on their phones and more time enjoying the outdoors and what it has to offer. Looking forward to more bushcraft and can't wait for the snow adventures. Chair looks great too!

I watch your videos for the relaxing sense of peace you bring me after a long day of work. This is probably rare, but rather than guiding you to make videos that are geared towards what I want, I prefer to be surprised at what you come with. I watch your videos because of you, not necessarily what you are doing. I knew you were going to make it when I watched your first outdoor video. Keep trying new things, and continue to show that you are growing your outdoor knowledge. Thank you for the authenticity in your videos!

One day when I was taking formal campcraft certification, we were all supposed to wrap & frap a worktable. My partner and I finished, the instructor came over, and she said what's this? It isn't supposed to last forever!
Well, she didn't mention that up front. But building a lounge chair...who'd have thought.
BTW, we always used jute cord. Holds knots well, entirely biodegradeable. Paracord? You have to pack out with you!

This video is one of your best! I love learning new knots. There are a few animated knot apps that are pretty cool and you can access them while out since theyre on your phone. Looks like youre in an old wildfire scar. Ever mushroom hunt while youre out exploring? I know you were learning local flora. I feel like fungi goes hand n hand with plants....plus so many are crazy yummy!

I have a fat tire ebike too. I can sympathize if it falls over. Mine weighs 30 kg. Super heavy. And it is underpowered and won't go up any hill with a gradient of more than 6% pedaling hard.. Useless in a hilly area. I enjoyed your trip Madison. A big thank you.

One time I was sawing a branch with a handsaw, the saw slipped and hit my other hand that was holding the branch steady and in one swipe it sliced right thru the tendon that allows my thumb to move, I never ever wouldve thought a simple handsaw could do that much damage, it required surgery the next day and a cast for 2 months, major ordeal, I always tell this to people so hopefully theyll know to wear gloves like I do now. Great vid thanks!

I tried doing a hammock under a single branch instead of between two trees :) If you ever find a large tree with a nice strong horizontal branch you can tie one end near the trunk and one end farther out and you have a nice place to hang under a branch and the tarp can go over the branch or you can tie it under the branch before you hang the hammock. Anyhow great video as usual and glad you did not get hurt on that ebike whipeout.. I want to get one of those one day when I save up for it too :)

dude I've kinda been on the same kick too. next on my list is to go get fatwood. which seems quite easy for us in the PNW. should be a good firestarter even when wet. although you already have plenty of cardboard it sounds like lol.
also if youre doing a lot of cutting I find the folding saws to be better. like the ones that are square ish or like a trapazoid. that's next on my list to add. the single fold ones seem to be a workout for sure.

I love this: it’s inspiring, useful, informative, and all-around awesome! I’m learning a lot from you. 😀 But if you will accept one teensy bit of constructive criticism: 4:48 seems like a pretty good way to slice open your thumb while out in the middle of nowhere. Now, I’m no outdoorsy knife expert, so maybe you’re doing that exactly as you’re supposed to? But I do cook, and I can tell you, the people who taught me to slice vegetables would NOT approve of my cutting towards, and not away, from myself. Thank you so much for the upload! These are especially great while I’m cooped up inside with an illness.
