The way i see it, is that Tom's mom exchange her soul for the princess, so her son will have someone who loves him without judging! I think that's the reason why Tom's mom decided to have a lily plant in her 🪦, i think she knew all along ❤️😍
I love the imagery for this tale--especially the butterfly carriage, and how the dwarf who tells Tom about the lilly flies around on his beard like a broom.
The protagonist being named Tom, and being swept away by a noblewoman from a supernatural kingdom, reminded me a bit of the Ballad of Thomas the Rhymer.
If I had to guess, I'm assuming Medieval Hungarians thought that having more legs made the horse faster. As for Tom's birth kingdom, I'm guessing it went to someone else. His father said at the beginning of the story he disinherited him.
I love how the lily is a lily of the valley, my birth flower and my actual favorite flower. Not for that reason, that'd be narcissistic, I just think they're legitimately beautiful. And the little blooms are so cute. 💜
This was such a funny story, I love how the old lady flew away slapping her stick at the faries when Tom had a sword. His mom died because he was too short. This is my favorite story!
Idk about the original version but in my language it said he hugged Tom "like his own son" which is to say he was probably affectionate but not as much as to his daughter
I agree, Tom's dad is a dick. But stupidity is the only other kings crime, and he welcomed Tom into his kingdom and Tom got to live there happily with his wife, and people who were like him, and he never had to see his abusive dad again, so yay happy ending!

I just discovered this channel, and I absolutely adore it. Somehow they remind me of the old cartoons i'd watch as a kid in the 80s. And I love the music, like Alfonso X's medieval cantigas. I want to know more about these lovely videos! Are they original content, or did Hungarian children of the 70s-80s grow up watching these on Saturday and Sunday mornings?! Either way, these are treasures.

As far as I know these extra legs on horses come from the old shamanic faith that the ancestors of the Hungarians had in ancient times. They used to call their shaman 'taltos' and these magical horses are also 'taltos' horses in these stories. They also thought that a human who was born with extra fingers had shamanic abilities.
Except the dad husband or widow and his wife without the Lilly. Maybe he is happy his son is gone yet will be upset his wife Lilly and last wish is gone.
