Hi, Chase and Shelby. The train you rode is a commuter train or like a suburban railway network. They use secondhand japanese trains so, yeah, that explains its old vibe. It's comparable to local trains in Bangkok, like the one you take to Ayutthaya. The actual subway/metro is our brand new Jakarta MRT (and LRT). But currently the MRT only consists of a 13-km single line from Hotel Indonesia Roundabout in Central Jakarta to Lebakbulus in South Jakarta, passing through the modern Sudirman Street.
The new currency exchange on the roadside only occurs on certain days each year, usually at the end of the month of Ramadan (fasting). After the fasting month ends Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr and people will give new money to children as gifts Especially people who don't have time to go to the bank they will exchange it on the side of the road but for an additional fee
Thats KRL or old metro system of Jakarta and interconnected to greater Jakarta like Bogor, Bekasi, Tangerang, Depok. Jakarta have a newest Metro system, more modern. But still old metro of Jakarta are massive!!!!!!
You guys are the next tourist couple traveling around Indonesia. Indonesia is not only Jakarta and Bali, there are so many tourist island destinations and various regional foods that will fascinate you from Aceh to Papua😎
So lucky you had selendang mayang (authentic betawi's iced desserts). Betawi is local tribe in Jakarta. What you had early on this video is commuter train, not MRT. Chinatown will be reached on third phase, while Monas (National Monument) will be reached on second from Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI). Existing first phase MRT axis connects Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) to Lebak Bulus. Actually near from the end station you arrived (Kota Station) or place you had iced selendang mayang, there is big Pasar Asemka (Asemka Market) where you can find merchandise groceries. The more you buy, cheaper you have. So pleasant on eyes. Enjoy Jakarta 😊
That’s so awesome we were able to try it!! It was unique and pretty good ☺️ oops we thought it was the MRT haha! thanks for letting us know and suggesting that! We absolutely will enjoy! Cheers friend ♥️

Been wanting to go to Indonesia and Thailand soon as a backpack traveler just to experience life in general. Just like what you've guys are doing. Thanks so much for this.. Tryna taking some notes.. This is so helpful ❤
Jakarta is still continuing to build a subway network (underground train). After phase 1 was completed, now phase 2 is being worked on and is expected to be completed in 2028. That is why the TransJakarta bus lines are a bit chaotic around Jakarta Kota Station.
You need to try lot of public transports in Jakarta. BRT Transjakarta is the longest rapid bus in the world that costs avbout 3500 idr for all the journey. MRT Underground and LRT Skytrain, Commuterline, and the fastest High Speed Train in the South East Asia, KCJB
Start on 28th July Monas Card (Jakcard Bank DKI) can be used on Commuterline Train, beside Commuterline also can be used on MRT Jakarta Train, LRT Jakarta Train and also Transjakarta Bus.

I just moved to Jakarta from North Carolina last week. Watching your videos helped me prepare for the move and helped lower my extreme anxiety. If you're still in the Kota area, make you visit Kasablanca mall. You'll love it!
If you don’t know the highlight or direction, you can ask the local. Look for the young one or one use office uniform. Most of them can speak english. While in Jakarta try to visit Taman Mini Indonesia (miniature Indonesia in a Park), Crazy Rich Chinatown Jakarta (Pantai Indah Kapuk) and Blok M (South Jakarta). You can try to use Bus (Trans Jakarta) or MRT. Have Fun in Jakarta.
In my opinion, if you want to go to Chinatown in Jakarta, it's better to go to PIK 2 (Pantai Indah Kapuk 2) its location in North Jakarta, it's way better than Glodok.
Hi friends, if you have long time to travel in Indonesia maybe you can visit Bandung (white crater, cukul sunrise point) ride train from jakarta to bandung 2hrs only. then you can rent motorbike towards these places.
go to pik 2, lots of food that you can explore and lots of good photo spots, there are lots of chinatown, and it will be beautiful when you go there at night... Selamat datang..🙏😁

It was alot of fun to film. Exploring different parts of Jakarta while finding some snacks and talking to locals is one of our favourite things to do. Thanks for watching ♥️
hy Chase and Shelbs, don't forget to go to "BY THE SEA" Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta. There is also a mall but the mall is a foreign concept and there is a beach and the name of the beach is Pantai Maju. If you want to come there, just go up just take the busway from the BALAI KOTA busway stop. The BALAI KOTA busway stop is not far from MONAS and later you just have to ask the BALAI KOTA busway stop.
please visit Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia, this city has a rich culture and the cost of living in this city is very cheap and also lots of traditional food specialties which are very delicious and cheap
It looks like this video was recorded quite a while (several months) from the upload date. The current Jakarta Kota Station (July 2023) has changed a lot. Now in front of the Jakarta Kota Station the Trans Jakarta bus has passed. There has become a bustling tourist destination, especially during the afternoon.
Saya harap kamu tinggal di indonesia sampai tanggal 17 agustus, karena 17 agustus adalah hari kemerdekaan indonesia dan akan ada perlombaan traditional yang unik, lucu dan senang. Enjoy❤
Hi.... Chase and Shelbs..... how are you doing ? There is new and modern China town in North Jakarta known as Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), but right now is lack of public transportation in there. The place is vere Chinese because there is a lot of new chinese building architectures.( you could check ithe picture in google as the PIK ). And if you guys like to go there you could take on line taxi such as GO CAR or GRAB CAR. Thats all the information about China town in Jakarta. Good luck......
We are so good! Hope you are well! We thought this was the main one.. but I guess not lol! I wish we new, hopefully one day we can check out the new one to see what it’s like ☺️
Please do vlog on tropical fruits such as durian, jackfruit, mangosteen, starfruit, etc. in traditional market. This will be a cool vlog because we don’t easily find these kind of exotic fruits in Canada and USA. Thanks 🙏
Can you guys go to PIK it's like new Chinatown in jakarta 😃🙏 And your shelbs look a lot like the youtuber from Australia @nalopia l thought it was you 😅
PIK China Town is a new, organized and clean but artificial, touristy and expensive version of China Town...the one in Glodok is the real deal if you want a real, authentic and down to earth experience of the Jakarta China Town...some parts in Glodok have obviously gone through a total make over like the Chinatown Point
If u want to see Indonesian culture, come to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in east Jakarta. If u want to go there Use public transportation Transjakarta.
Nice view in jakarta! Thank you for visiting to our country! Enjoy your holiday in Jakarta. P.S. Thank You for Mr. President of Republic Indonesia Pak Jokowi. You are the best our president! Wish i could vote you again. But impossuble 😁
Hi Chase and Shelbs, New subcribers here, Just let you know you took commuter to Kota Tua not MRT, usually MRT going from city to city within Jakarta. But Commuter is taking further distance. Btw enjoy your stay here. I suggest you going to Jogja or Bromo taking sleepers bus. They are superb and good foe sight seeing too
Hey there! Welcome to the adventures ☺️🙏🏼 oops our bad! We didn’t realize haha. Thank you so much. We didn’t even realize there was a sleeper bus heading there. What a great way to travel and we would love to try it some day!
If you like to use public transport ini jakarta you better buy e-money or Flazz card in indomart or Alfamart because it can be use not only in MRT but also other public transportation that require u to go and tab your card like busway and MRT, and idk if they tell you already but that card that you bought you can top-up the balance, in any MRT station they Will have this machine you just need to tab the card and put the cash and also you need to top it up if the balance become 5k or below otherwise u can't use it
If you like to have more china vibe.,..you can try to visit chinatown in PIK2 north Jakarta.......is more breathtaking...idk what public transportation to get there..... it's better using the online taxi...gojek
7:22 beacause you guys using KRL( Comuter Line ) Train not The MRT system and the MRT in Jakarta had that hard plastics seat to and they go underground also with much more modern and new train.
you have to go to Sudirman central business district(SCBD),there you can go to the Sudirman skywalk and see the citylight of central business jakarta in south Jakarta, you can go there by MRT train (it is the Jakarta electric train that reaches the central city areas). if you want to go to a tourist area with lots of modern street food, you can go to PIK (north jakarta)or you can go to Ancol to see the beach view, enjoy your holiday, don't forget to go to bali later😉
The conventional picnic trip is go and enjoy the tourism destination. From the traveling vlogger like you guys I learn that having fun in the common place not attributed as tourism spot like in a kampong or daily market place is actually similar to simply enjoying tourism activity also
it's a train (KRL), because there is a KAI logo on the front of the train, and you can also use the same card to try the MRT or LRT

August 17th is Indonesia independence day, if you guys stick around until 17th of August, you'll see a bunch of festival everywhere
No mask mandate now guys, hahaha, it's optional, we used masks just to avoid unnecessary conversation, hahahaha.
And Cikini station are basically surrounded by the best food in Jakarta, Somay Cikini is the best 👍👍
Haha that’s funny! But hey if you don’t want to converse, it’s a good strategy😂👏🏼 we are foodies so that sounds like a place we would love to visit! Thank you 🙏🏼
@@ChaseandShelbs but the pork in Chinatown is insanely delicious 🤤😁👍
Have you try go to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah? It's in East Jakarta.. You cant see a miniature of Indonesia in one place.. try to go there 😊
No don't go there. Boring for foreign tourists.
No we have not! Sounds super cool though ☺️
look similar my country Thailand.
Trima kasih , telah berkunjung ke negara kami , semoga hari²mu menyenangkan .
Go to borobudur temple, mount bromo, mount ijen, tumpak sewu waterfall, dieng, pacitan
Terima kasih ini video yang bagus tentang Glodok alley. Suka lihat makanan yang dicoba kalian berdua, terutama jelly drink dengan latar kemacetan serta makan cake dengan latar ramainya Glodok. Luar biasa...
PIK is just a bunch of trendy cafes. It has no charm. Only interesting for foodies. Nothing special.
Oooooh that sounds so fun! Thanks for the suggestion. We will have to check it out when we are back In Jakarta 🙏🏼
Hello..I'm from Jakarta, I came back to watch your video which is truly extraordinary. I hope the Lord Jesus always bless you. Thank you.
Awww thanks so much for watching and supporting 🥹♥️
The best couple travelers so far.. You did a really great things.. It can be memorize for a long time when you were've been in indonesia
That is so kind of you to say! We have been having such an amazing time exploring Indonesia 🥰
please visit Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia, this city has a rich culture and the cost of living in this city is very cheap and also lots of traditional food specialties which are very delicious and cheap
You guys are so humble. I'm a new subscriber 😊
Why thanks so much!! Happy to have you hear 🥹
Finally you already taste The Starling Starbucks Keliling or Travelling Starbucks... 😂😂😂 enjoy your travelling in Jakarta..
Haha yes! It was awesome 🙏🏼😂 cheers friend xx
Hi guys, I suggest you to visit CHINA TOWN at PIK 2. To go to PIK 2 you can used public transports (Busway)
I'm always so sad when your Vlog ends, I could watch you both for hours ❤ Thank you for another great day of adventures. ❤
That is the hugest compliment!! Thanks so much! We have many exciting adventures planned in the future and can’t wait to bring you along. 🥰
Itu Es selendang mayang.

Thanks friend! Cheers ♥️
Saya harap kamu tinggal di indonesia sampai tanggal 17 agustus, karena 17 agustus adalah hari kemerdekaan indonesia dan akan ada perlombaan traditional yang unik, lucu dan senang. Enjoy❤
station kota is a Dutch heritage the shape of the building is still maintained until now
I wish we new, hopefully one day we can check out the new one to see what it’s like ☺️
Thank you for your reply and you are very humble guys, I admire that....... Good luck and have a nice trip......
Please do vlog on tropical fruits such as durian, jackfruit, mangosteen, starfruit, etc. in traditional market. This will be a cool vlog because we don’t easily find these kind of exotic fruits in Canada and USA. Thanks 🙏
Ohh that’s a great idea! 😍
Can you guys go to PIK it's like new Chinatown in jakarta 😃🙏 And your shelbs look a lot like the youtuber from Australia @nalopia l thought it was you 😅
We totally didn’t even realize or we would have! And no way haha I’ve never gotten that before but I see the resemblance ☺️
come to PIK jakarta and bandung city
Wait until August 17th, which day is Indonesia's birthday, and see the excitement.
Best version of Chinatown in Jakarta is in Pantjoran PIK, North Jakarta
PIK China Town is a new, organized and clean but artificial, touristy and expensive version of China Town...the one in Glodok is the real deal if you want a real, authentic and down to earth experience of the Jakarta China Town...some parts in Glodok have obviously gone through a total make over like the Chinatown Point
TRY THE CHICKEN NOODLES INDONESIAN. TRY MARTABAK SWEET INDONESIAN. TRY TELOR MARTABAK INDONESIAN. TRY SIOMAY INDONESIAN TRY PADANG SEDER RESTAURAN INDONESIAN . INDONESIAN FOODS IS DELICIOUS.
If u want to see Indonesian culture, come to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in east Jakarta. If u want to go there Use public transportation Transjakarta.
Di Indonesia mah kalo mau nyeberang ya nyebrang aja ga harus dizebra cross ..ya le ..🫣
If you like to use public transport ini jakarta you better buy e-money or Flazz card in indomart or Alfamart because it can be use not only in MRT but also other public transportation that require u to go and tab your card like busway and MRT, and idk if they tell you already but that card that you bought you can top-up the balance, in any MRT station they Will have this machine you just need to tab the card and put the cash and also you need to top it up if the balance become 5k or below otherwise u can't use it
Oh wow thank you! That is super useful and helpful information ☺️
Jakarta have KRL *commuter line, MRT & LRT. . Seledang mayang ice coconut milk with rice & tapioca flavor puding. .next visit Bandung by train 👍
try to visit Jogjakarta, there are many kinds of culture and regional specialties
im new viewers, enjoy in indonesia, oh sorry my english bad.
Thank you and welcome ♥️
I hope you can try MRT/LRT/BRT Jakarta 😊
If you like to have more china vibe.,..you can try to visit chinatown in PIK2 north Jakarta.......is more breathtaking...idk what public transportation to get there..... it's better using the online taxi...gojek
Awesome video Chase and Shelbs , 35:27 that is bakmi bakso Jakarta most popular cuisine 😊👍👍
Thank you! We are loving the Indonesia cuisine. ☺️ 🙏🏼

You miss alot thing at Chinatown, like cempedak goreng Lina, pork noddles, Coffee Tak kie, Mix Rice, mipan, mochi cakes
Uhuuu.. Finally,, a new vlog is out... 👍👍
🤭🎉🙏🏼
7:22 beacause you guys using KRL( Comuter Line ) Train not The MRT system and the MRT in Jakarta had that hard plastics seat to and they go underground also with much more modern and new train.
Oh we will have to try that one!
you have to go to Sudirman central business district(SCBD),there you can go to the Sudirman skywalk and see the citylight of central business jakarta in south Jakarta, you can go there by MRT train (it is the Jakarta electric train that reaches the central city areas). if you want to go to a tourist area with lots of modern street food, you can go to PIK (north jakarta)or you can go to Ancol to see the beach view, enjoy your holiday, don't forget to go to bali later😉
Skywalk is in Senayan Park (spark) not SCBD.
Thanks for the tips! We will have to check it out when we are back In Jakarta ☺️ thanks for watching and supporting us! Cheers ♥️
Just go to BUNAKEN, the most beautifull place in Indonesia
The conventional picnic trip is go and enjoy the tourism destination. From the traveling vlogger like you guys I learn that having fun in the common place not attributed as tourism spot like in a kampong or daily market place is actually similar to simply enjoying tourism activity also
Mantap 👍👍 selamat menikmati kota jakarta❤ 🙏🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
Have a nice trip both of us. Keep healthy and stay safe. God Bless. Welcome to indonesia❤❤
Thank you so much!! And we absolutely will, cheers friends and have a great week ahead ♥️
Nona Shelby cantik dan supel dalam berkomunikasi dengan orang. Tidak canggung. Saya suka melihat nya 😍😍😍💖💖
