    I found your kit when searching on eBay for a replacement of my Harmony 700 remote. I was unaware that it is possible for a handy person to repair those sticky, balky buttons. I will be ordering a kit. Thanks

    The repair kit sold by P1Repair is excellent. I followed the instructions in this video to install the replacement/augmentation parts and the remote actually works better than it did brand new. I think I paid like $10 for the kit, arrived within a week. I seriously have purchased 3 of these remotes every 2 to 3 years or so because I love the remote but inevitably, buttons start failing. With this cleaning process and the kit, I will never spend another $100 again. Thanks P1Repair!

    Received repair kit yesterday. Installed this morning. Voila! My Harmony 650 works like new!! Thanks for offering this kit for sale. Great buy for me.

    Thanks so much for the great explaination! Just cleaned my Harmony 600 and it was easy to follow.
    One thing I suggest to change is not to use a scredriver to unclick the sides of the remote since the metal could damage the plastic. I used an old credit card which worked really nice without damage :)

    I just completed the repair on the top buttons of my Harmony 700 using the top button kit and it works GREAT. The Power Off button was the issue and now all is well. Why Logitech would design this remote with a single contact button on what is likely the most used button on the remote while providing double contact buttons for several of the lessor used top buttons is beyond me. Thanks for the great video. BTW folks... the small black screws do require a precision Philips screw driver as mentioned in the video (the size was not mentioned...#00 worked well for me). Buy one in advance and it will save you the headache of trying to use a small straight blade screwdriver and possibly stripping the Philips screw heads.

    I have three 650s. One I bought from someone online. It was in perfect working condition but when I got it, the screen was dustier than a coal mine.
    I was really disappointed but you could still see the screen fine. It just bothered me.
    This video helped me take it apart and clean the screen. Looks new.
    I have another on where two buttons are not working well and will give this a try again. Thanks again for making this video.

    NOTE: This video shows a 2-part bottom button installation with a white sheet and a black sheet. This has been replaced with a peel and stick membrane just like the top buttons, after I found a way to make it work even when installed over the original white reflective layer found on the board. The new pad works better than the 2-part sheet.

    Got the kit in the mail today. This was my 3rd Logitech 650 remote that had button issues. They seem to last just about a year before having problems. Followed the instructions and my Harmony 650 works like new again. Great solution to Logitech's not so great build quality.

    p1repair is AWESOME!! I had a button that was giving me a hard time. It's one that's right next to the display on a 650. Had to push it down very hard. Saw this (very clear, informative and thorough) video and went to the provided link. Purchased the needed part after communicating briefly with the seller. He got back to me via e-mail rapidly. Installed the cell membrane part today. It was a piece o' cake. I was surprised. Often I make damaged items more damaged. Not this time, thanks to the video and terrific product. My 650 works as if it were brand new. To sum it up......, if you have a Harmony remote that's giving you a hard time, p1repair will save the day!

    Great kit, thanks. Repaired two 600 models and it's perfect. Simple repair! Hardest part of job is getting the backing off the smaller stick-on parts for the upper section of the remote.

    Used this on my Harmony 650. Even though I only had a couple of buttons going out I did the all button and deoxit cleaner kit. Took me about 30 minuets and my remote works better than new! Thanks for a fine product!

    Did this repair today. Cleaunup and installation took me about half an hour, but I did NOT do the snapdomes, as I don't use those buttons that often in my setup. Everything works great again, thanks!

    This may be old but it worked for our original 700. I was about to toss it after who knows how long it's been a PITA. Surprisingly, while I didn't especially do a super thorough job, I did clean it up and all the buttons besides the main culprit (power) that were getting funky but not enough for me to really pay attention to it, they came back good as new!! The power button required a little foil pack and it's about 98% now.
    Thanks for the video.

    Ordered the middle repair kit for the harmony 650, because the green button sucks. A investment of $ 6.50 ($ 4,- for the kit and about 2.50 for shipping to austria), and a $ 100,- remote works like new. Very fair price, thanks!

    I only had the "All Off" button not working occasionally, so I only purchased the top buttons. The video was excellent and easy to follow - button works great now. My only suggestion is using a small, plastic putty knife instead of a small flat head screwdriver to separate the halves once the black screws are removed. This way if you slip you won't scratch the top, visible part of the remote. Thank you for providing the parts and step-by-step video!

    So far, so good. I tried the CaiKote 44 which worked at first, but became a disaster as tiny flecks of the conductive paint came loose and started shorting out buttons. I just finished this repair, and it works perfectly. At least for now. :)

      My original problem was with the number pad where number 2 did not work and 5 did not work. After the repair everything worked fine until today where the five button was stuck down and continually shot out fives. I took apart the unit again and simply loosened the screw on the circuit board at the very bottom to give a little more play and it seems to be working just fine again so I think the extra layers tighten things up a little more than it could handle but the looser screw helps out. Just tested it and it's very happy again

    I don't want to be funny but you can buy carbon paint that works very well and you can also get silver paint to repair tracks, both can be purchased from RS Components or Farnell sorry don't have part numbers but if you go online to purchase the carbon paint will re-coat the black pads and I have used it to repair IR remotes before when I had my business hope that helps Bob in the UK

    • @p1repair
      @p1repair  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is no paint, glue, epoxy or coating that will stick to rubber keypads. I repaired telephones for 20 years and we tried every imaginable coating... they all eventually chipped, cracked, flaked off and bits and pieces of the conductive material would often get stuck between tracings and short out buttons causing the entire keypad to lock up. You can get away with those techniques for a short term or if the button is rarely used but usually the buttons break from heavy use and any coating will certainly fail sooner than later and cause worse problems than just preventing that button from being hard to press.

    What's the lifetime of these repaired buttons vs the stock ones?

    • @p1repair
      @p1repair  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no easy way to answer that question without getting 20 new remotes, installing the repair in half and running them through identical automated tests for months or years. Everyone uses their remote differently and in different environments. I don't have any data on how long the originals lasted and under what circumstances. I just know a lot of people are having button issues and I also know nothing else out there will work for long if at all. I am also not aware of the repair pad wearing out for anyone.
      I have tested the material on a phone with a machine pressing the button 120 times per minute for over 1 week, exceeding 1 million button presses and no noticeable wear.

    • @madmax2069
      @madmax2069 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@p1repair yeah I figured as much, was hoping you'd have some insight on the stock buttons as I just bought a refurbished harmony 665, and I can almost guess I'm eventually going to run into the issue as well if this is a major issue with the remotes.

      I assume you have the new kit and not the one shown in this video which hasn't been available for over 3 years. Sorry to hear you ran into problems. I'm not hearing any complaints and frequently receive unsolicited feedback about how great it works. I also install these for some customers. Without knowing what happened it sounds like there was a problem with installation and one of the buttons is stuck down all the time. I'm not sure why you would then need to trash the remote. These are easily removed and repositioned if needed, just use a hair dryer to warm it up first.
