Hey Scrapman! Creator of the Downhill over here. Super glad another map of mine got reviewed! I have to admit, this course turned out to be a bit more challenging than anticipated ;) But ain't gonna lie, had fun watching your attempts (did quite well by the way, some people really struggled here, haven't even made it past piston section). About the "time record" - during countless testing runs I believe I've made it under 3 minutes without dying once (like literately once), but like I said, you need to have some luck on your side as well. Explaining some features: - this "big jump" you've tried at the beginning is a bait (added it last minute, just for the curiosity what players would do with that), the intended way is to go around, not straight, then it's much easier. - ramps aren't decoys, you just have to go as fast as plausible , slaloming between pistons. Once you find a right path is fairly doable. I hope you had fun among the pain caused by pistons ;). I may try doing some speedrun video at some point, just to show it's actually plausible to make it in 1 go.
The snowboarding references 100% landed with me. The tight trails you can’t carve are usually double black Diamond and i think that’s a valid difficulty level for this course.
I know it is similar with skiing, and moguls are a death wish if they are icy because they lead to you careening down the slope with you feet landing at different times.
Speaking of snowboarding, Maybe building skis or a snowboard and putting buster on it and doing some tricks would be cool, potentially on a map specifically made with large hills/downhills for snowboarding or something else.
I think some of the things, like the pistons, were meant to be speed gates, where you have to be going fast enough to get past them. You'll notice that when you did have some speed, you outran them and didn't get hit. This course wasn't made for slow and steady.
I remember doing this course. I tried to build a car just for this. It was a success but (go to the end of the course without breaking anything (with checkpoints cuz sometimes the psychics broke or because it needed very precise movement)) it was hard

Reminds me of this location in Steep, the snow sports game. There's an extremely tight tunnel in the Alps map that I enjoyed trying to ski, snowboard and even wingsuit through it. Now I wanna see someone build a flying craft and finish this course.

Yes scrapman, some understand your snowboarding ref, you know when you have to put all the weight on the front foot in the hope of some sort of rotation :')
4:22 I aint no snowboarder, but i can fully confirm that both skiing and snowboarding on ice is horrible. Nearly broke a bone when tried skiing down an ice covered slope

i was on an incredibly icy trail that, at that point, was becoming steep, and i had both skis to the side and just skid... also, there was one point when i was young where i fell, but i took advantage of the moment, and rode down an inclined hill with my shoes in my skis and me on the back of them. the instructor couldn't believe his eyes... i flew down that hill...

I can confirm that it is possible to complete it without dying (took 43 min of grinding)

Have anything to say about moguls? If anything, that’s the best time to want to be swaying side to side

The worst is when you're taking a cut through the trees and your edge locks you going straight down

For future reference, if you put weights directly on the wheels, inside or outside, it makes fore more stability and softer landings.

Some fins to control your vector in the air would have made those jumps remarkably easier

Well, I did that with a build I've used to test this map, seemed to work quite good.

there's a reason the creator recommended you have 200kph of speed, the course is a speed course with jumps.

Should've added 2 more rear wheels and kept the weights on the bottom to solve the stability, traction, and braking problems
Imagine a soap box derby with this mod to see who can make it closest to the bottom within say 5 modifications
We need this but with gliders; that would make for a whole new challenge.
I recommend to use more spiked wheels more theyrenpretty good at everything even decent in mud(compared to other wheels)
