When the doc first appeared I was disappointed it wasn't Roger Bart but seriously, Mark nailed the role and dare I say, sounded more like Chris Lloyd.
This is a brilliant show for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. I never believed Back To The Future would make a good musical but oh how wrong I was - its not a good musical, its the best musical. This was the 4th time I'd seen it - Olly is leaving next month so when I see it for the 5th time it will probably feel like watching it for the 1st time all over again. Love this theatre, great sets and lighting and what they did with the Delorean ..well you just have to go see that for yourself 10/10

Such a shame that over the last few months they seem to be putting more and more back ups in. I've seen it 20 times now and for the first 10 times it was pretty much always the main cast...over the last 2 months it has never had the main cast. Always at least 1 or 2 back ups. Once we went on a Saturday night and there were 6 stand ins.
To be honest they are all very good at what they do, even the back ups, but you do feel a little short changed when there are so many stand ins.
In this particular recording there are stand ins for 1) Doc 2) Jennifer 3) Lorraine 4) Strickland 5) Clocktower Woman 6) Uncle Huey 7) The main female dancer (Alessia McDermot) 8) Biff Sidekick

True, it was a backup Marty the time before and he just didn't have the charm Olly has. Haven't seen the main cast perform together since September now, always at least one stand in.

The thing is though, in this show 1st cover for Doc is the same actor who plays Strickland normally. And for feeling shortchanged of course you hope to se the cast that you’ve heard on the album but when you buy a ticket you pay to see the show not see a specific cast member. Understudies are incredible for knowing there own track as well as a principle role. Swings are even more amazing knowing all male or female ensemble tracks and being able to switch on. They don’t get enough credit and the pay is significantly worse than the cast who are on most nights especially swings.

It has a few drawbacks but they are minor and don't ruin the show, namely:
There were a couple of moments when you couldn't see Marty - the first was around the dinner table as I had a chair blocking him and the second was when he was laying down under the tree branch - couldn't see him at all.
The view of the delorean during the driving sequences was restrictive i.e. you can only see the car from mid way up so without the wheels you don't get the true feeling of speed
The fire trails can not be seen blazing down the stage, although you do still see the fire as it starts at the edge of the stage around seat 16
When Lorraine was getting dressed in her room, you couldn't see her for most of the scene (Might not be a problem if you are sat dead center of the row, but from 15 the angle meant the window obscured the view.
But it was an amazing view and there was no freaky tall person in front of me getting in the way so perfect for filming the curtain call.

@@StevesThemeParkShows thanks for the reply ngl I don’t have any problem not seeing some of the stuff I’ll do anything to see this musical again ever since the first time I saw the musical November 2021
