    Do you ever work with a crew large enough that you don't have to be on the computer and filming at the same time?

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Having a dedicated editor and shooter working in tandem would be nice but typically it’s myself solo or with one other person, and I’d prefer to get two angles of the game and have to deal with in-game edits than sacrifice potential footage. If I could get a team of 3+ then having a dedicated editor would definitely be good.

    Video looks so good dude!
    What settings are the camera on when filming? 4k 24fps? What aperture do you normally run and shutter speed? At 6:00 - 6:10 there's clips which are slow motion but then look like they're shot at 24fps also, what's the sequence settings for that?

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hey Manveer, thanks for checking out the content. I usually shoot 1080p120 at f4 with 1/400 aperture and edit on a timeline at 23.976fps. I’ve got a video way back on this channel going over my gear and settings so you may want to check that one out if you want more details.

  • @ajstewart5555
    @ajstewart5555 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video you make it look easy. Are you shooting in 1080? Would you make an IG reels of this game? If so how would cropping in effect the image of the reel. Last question do you record the WHOLE game waiting for something to happen?

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I filmed this game all in 1080p120 and then scales up the 1920x1080 image to fill a 1080x1920 composition (9:16 aspect ratio so 178% scale) when posting Reels on Instagram. Instagram compresses everything pretty heavily anyways so as long as my composition is good and I’m doing what I can to preserve image quality throughout the exporting and uploading process I don’t worry about it.
      I record the game in short clips and after I film a clip with either write down a quick note about it with the file number for referencing later or will delete the clip if I didn’t get any good shots and nothing notable happened. I usually stop filming at every made basket or dead ball unless the play is moving quickly.

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I usually am quite liberal with zooming in and out to frame a shot, and will often zoom while panning with a subject so that I can almost “edit” a shot in-camera by transitioning my framing from a wide to a close-up or vice versa to keep focus on the subject. Sometimes I’ll often zoom in or out quite aggressively then use the motion blur created by these zooms later when editing to create in-camera zoom or whip pan transitions that help my edit flow together more smoothly.

Often times I’ll even drop a clip onto my timeline to test it, especially if I’m doing in-game or same-day deliverables.
