Hey! I'm Robyn. Let's simplify and declutter life! Let's journey toward slow living.
I'm a mom, nurse, TH-cam creator and 4/5 of my house has ADHD (including me!)
#perimenopause #bladdercontrol #hormones - บันเทิง
Preface: Some of my comment is explicit.
It's not the hot flashes, irritability, insomnia etc that is the worst of it. Don't miss your window of opportunity. If you wait too long, the benefits decrease. The very worst of it is vaginal atrophy. It. is. hell. Quality of life ~ that's what it's all about. The vaginal symptoms started at about mid fifties with CRAZY itching of my perineum. DON"T WAIT. That's what I want all of you that are younger than me (64) to know.
Thanks for the warning. That sounds terrible 😟
I agree its terrible. The itching is insane sometimes. for me, vasginal estrogen went systemic and also caused cramping :(
get the vaginal estrogen and possibly testosterone... I had to buy toys to have pleasure once i turned 49 ugh (been on hormones -bcp since 43 (and other years of my life) for anemia and heavy bleeding.
clitoral atrophy also is horrible...
@@jennifermoffitt7294 my gyn has now refused to give me any estrogen, vaginal or patch/ring etc. I am going to consult gyn an hour from my house. (I'm on Oregon coast and it has limited health services.)
I am a breast cancer survivor (been for 3 years now), still have 2 years of treatment to go trough. I'm post menopausal and the weight gain has been hell! All my life i was light weight and a lean machine, working out every day. Then when perimenopause started 10 years ago, i started to see a light fluctuation on my weight, but i could manage...until 3 years ago when cancer hit me hard. The treatment (Letrozole), on top of post menopause, made me gain a huge amount of weight, so much that it's affecting my blood flow, my bones, my back, and my mental...i feel like a whale and a couch potato. It's as if someone fat and lazy took over my body. I'm having such a hard time getting back to my healthy life! All i want to do is cry and hide. I do go through the entire symptoms of menopause; night sweats, hot flashes, migraines, weight gain, mood swings..the whole 9 yard..my life has been turned upside down! 😩 I cannot take any estrogen as my cancer treatment is an hormones blocker. 😭
Oh I’m so sorry 🙁 that’s awful. This video might be helpful, she has some helpful ideas for how we can use our physiology in our advantage without hrt th-cam.com/video/DU4V5OpLp3s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iTdDoHLW6La9Ic3_
I was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) in 1996 at the age of 32. Then about 10 years later diagnosed with arthritis. Around 2013 I began having major menopause symptoms (sweats, tender breasts, weight gain, sleep issues). In the last couple of years I've been diagnosed with LS (Lichen Sclerosus). So much going on and not a whole lot of information/education given. Doctors just want to give you a prescription but a lot of it is nutrition based (which they don't have much (if any) knowledge of because it doesn't generate money for the drug companies. Through the process of elimination I have given up sugar, carbs, plant-based foods, and processed foods. I am now animal based (mainly beef, eggs and salt) and doing SO much better. My autoimmune issues (MS, arthritis, and LS) are pretty much in remission now since I changed my diet Thanksgiving 2022.
Wow! It’s amazing what diet can do
My wonderful OBG and naturopath told me about the holes in the HRT study. At age 45, I started having horrible perimenopause symptoms, and my OBG had me start (mostly bioidentical) HRT. I'm 48 now. It's been a godsend these past three years!
My symptoms were hot flashes (but felt like I had a fever...weird), migraines, anxiety, and heart palpitations.
YES! I remember a woman coming into the ER I was nursing at, and she had palpitations too. Scary! Glad the HRT is a godsend!
I ASSumed that my periods would just lessen and get fewer and farther in between before just stopping completely. Oh no no no. It's obviously different for everyone (and I congruently developed thyroid issues in my late 40s) but I had 3 periods last month and a couple this month. Expect the unexpected is my new mantra!
My naturopath told me they get closer, closer, closer, then start spacing out. It’s all somewhat unpredictable to me.
@@Minimalisthomeliving Thank you, that's helpful to know!
Isn’t that the truth! Mine are worse than ever!!! Hang in there!
I am 56 and did not realize how early perimenopause had started for me! There just hasn’t been much info available and women don’t want to talk about it. I hope you will talk about the other strange symptoms that come up like random shooting pains in random places of your body, dizziness, and my favorite-changes in hearing! Once I started asking older friends they were all like “ oh yes” one told me she thought her house was haunted and another said she thought someone was breaking in over and over until they learned that perimenopause affects hearing. Nobody had ever told me to expect these things.
Kari Anne wright has a funny channel about all the menopause symptoms nobody warns you about. I started HRT and it has made a world of difference. We are all with you on this journey!
So true!!
I have Spina Bifida and Chiari 2. I am 53. Perimenopause was brutal for me. Thank you for talking about this. It needs to be taught as one of life’s transitions. Advice: multi vitamins. Breathing exercises day and night. Inhale through your nose for a count of 5, exhale through your mouth for a count of five. Do this for 5 minutes at a time, day and night. Helps with anxiety and resets the brain. Mindfulness - and you are already there. Remember that your thoughts are just that -thoughts. Let them come and go. Same for emotions. Crying jags and anger spurts won’t last. You’re doing great. 🎉
Thanks for sharing! Those are great tips. And thanks for the moral support!
Great Video.I remember asking my mom once about changing life she said she had too many kids to remember.I am in my mid 50s the hot flashes have subsided.Iv been taking Vitamin D for years. Thanks foe the info. Keep the videos coming
Love that!
I’m kinda outside the “norm” but I’m 38 and had been struggling with peri for the last five or so years. Finally started HRT (estrogen patch, progesterone pill) I have a metabolic disease I’ve had since birth where my body won’t convert galactose into glucose. There is no cure so the only way to manage is a dairy free diet. Last year I was having such issues with my joints, even after a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis, multiple meds my joints still hurt so much horrible sleep and what I call hot flushes. What surprised me is that I wasn’t soaking the sheets but I was waking up in the night really hot. My GP was hesitant to give me HRT but my geneticist referred me to an endocrinologist, and she aggreed I need the benefits to protect my bones, and brain and I feel much much much better. Maybe I’m a different circumstance, but my mom never had HRT and my friends told me not to do it because I’d get cancer (because of that study).
Oh, I’m glad you got connected with the right doctor!
I actually lucked out and was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure at age 32, shortly after my second son was born. What it means essentially was that I went into menopause earlier than normal. After my 2nd son was born, I literally started having periods every two weeks and then wouldn't have one for a month or two. Then everything suddenly stopped. No more periods by the time I was 33. But... I never went through any menopause symptoms. To not have to deal with a monthly period the last 20 years has been wonderful!!
Oh good!
Love this!❤️ The House of Hormones is also a great place for education, expert advice and hormone friendly products if anyone is looking extra support😊
Thank you for talking about this 💛
Finally right? Thanks for commenting ❤️
At 47 have incontinence pads for when i have cold and cough and sneeze.
My body is on a two week cycle which is nature of body getting last fertile eggs out.
In uk have menapouse clinics and met specialist Dr there who the same thing about study leaked and scared everyone.
Did think about HRT but after bloods has course of iron tablets which helped my memory and mood ❤
Oh my! I hoype something can be done
If you are on thyroid medication, the decline in estrogen will affect your dosage needs. I went through a huge drop in a short time and it felt as though I was dying. When I was tested I was told that I was post menopause.
Ohh good point!
vaginal estrogen is key for bladder issues... at least for me but i might do pelvic floor therapy too
Yes, i think it’s handy to do both
thank you! HRT all the way for me
yesss, I’ll be hopping on board when ready
Mine has got so bad I have purchased Incontinence underwear!! Yes, cutting down on caffeine does help.
Oh man!
Thank you so much for sharing about this! I feel like I've been starting to deal with perimenopause during the past 6 months or so.
You’re welcome! It doesn’t have to be terrible ☺️
I powered through peri menopause without HRT because years ago I had a blood clot that my doc attributed to the Pill use. She recommended not to do any hormones as that was an increased risk for more blood clots. I endured the night sweats ( honestly hubby loved getting all my blankets-lol), and feel fine now. I wonder whether HRT would have been a blood clot risk for me, but I'm not too worried about it now.
Yes, it’s not for everyone, but one can wonder 🤔
just be aware of your bone health since you are in menopause. You can feel fine but your bones may or may not be in good shape. A dexa scan will show this.
not patch no risk of clots
Whether pari or just straight-out menopause, it's like having super PMS. I didn't do anything for bladder leakage other than wear "protective gear" and it eventually got better. Your advice is sound regarding hormone replacement. Do your own research. We all would like the quick fix, but sometimes the safest bet is going the natural route and taking care of the whole person, as you stated. I know someone that got breast cancer after she started hormone replacement therapy. Coincidence? Perhaps. Then the post-surgery meds that they put her on had a side effect of uterine cancer. So where do we draw the line? Hang in there my fellow females! Take deep breaths, try to enjoy life. Watch helpful, encouraging TH-cams...like this one!
Aww, thanks!
my mom got breast cancer twice and was never on bcp or HRT. It's not caused by estrogen but if you get cancer estrogen feeds it- that's how it works.
the estrogen used in that study was premarin.- a synthetic equine estrogen (oral) not a Bioidentical estrogen.
Indeed, plus done on women who were on average in their 70s
When we take our babies to preschool and they are the youngest we are proud and sad. When we take them to college we are pound and sad. Let's see what happens when they get married. 😢😮
Indeed!!!
My perimenopause has been horrible! I wish they would prepare woman for what’s to come.
Yes!! I'm hoping that the times are changing
Your experiences are totally normal.
Thank you 😊
Does the estrogen helps you not use restroom on yourself or not? Urgency go to the bathroom. Let me know. Thank you cuz that's the problem I have. I can't make it to the bathroom or it be so urgent to when I do go to the bathroom. I just pee and pee and pee and can't stop. Let me know. It's my biggest problem and I'm disabled so yeah
It has definitely helped. Check with your doctor ☺️
vaginal estradiol for sure
This is off the subject. I was just curious of your ethnicity?..
I’m Canadian, and my heritage is a whole whack of European countries.
@@Minimalisthomeliving Well, they are a lovely combination. :-)
