I love this foot! I also use it for joining two pieces of batting. Put the bar between the two pieces so there is no overlap, then use a stitched zig zag stitch! Great way to use up leftover batting.
Carol Livengood. Thanks so much for this GREAT TIP. I truly appreciated it. Much better than the video WITH NO HANDS IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA. Stay safe. Hug from France 💐😷👍👍👍
I purchased a set of different sewing feet and didn’t even know I had this special device. I’m using this for my binding and top stitch from now on. Thanks. I
Thank you for this tutorial in binding. I don't make quilts but rather fascinators and this lesson will certainly be helpful in an even better finished product.
OMG OMG OMG Why didn’t I do this before??? This solves two problems I’ve had so easily. Also, you all in Utah sure grow some lovely ladies. Thank you for these helpful machine-focused tips.
i used to stitch my fold over binding down by hand, never again. I tried this with one of my quilts for a baby. Worked great. Love it. Thank you for your tip.
I have a Singer 201 Treadle that has an guide that bolts to the deck to keep the seam the same distance from the edge. I got it from my mother who got it from her mother who got it in 1936 and it works today as good as when it was new.
That is the way that I sew my bindings on, but have never tried the edge joining foot. Will have to try. I had a hard time seeing how Barb did the corners. Thanks.
Wow! Ive just bought a sewing machine and feel a new foot buying opportunity coming on! Thanks so much for sharing your experience so us newbies can learn from the best. YAY BARB!!!
What a great tip from Barb. I have all the feet that come with the machine and probably haven't used half of them. Keep up the great pointers and showing us how to use of feet for different things. Thanks, Barb and Kris.
Wow! What a wonderful tool. I'll have to see if my old machine can use one of these attachments. This takes all the guesswork and unevenness out of the quilt. It looks so professional. Thank you for making this video. .
Good demonstration - I do have a question about this foot. I have an older machine that does not change needle position and just wondered if that would be a problem to utilize this foot properly. thank you for sharing your time and talents!
Thank you! I acquired a lot of sewing notions and am now just going through them, curious at to what all the different sewing foots (feet?) do. I have real trouble sewing my edges straight and this will help tremendously.
I am definitely going to get one of these feet to use for stitch in the ditch. I did not even know a foot like this existed! Thanks. I am also going to try applying the binding this way cause it looks so neat and crisp.
petmom ful I always bind mine like this, but I’ve machine-stitched the back and hand-sewn the front. This is a great attachment! You’ll love how nice the binding looks when you’re done even on the back. See how she metered the corners. It’s easy and looks great.
I love binding this way. I love to make quilts but I don't like to bind by hand. It just takes too long and my fingers get tired. So, binding this way is a life saver for me.
Awesome demonstration! I’m going to try this. You two are so relaxed that your conversation exchange was warm & inviting and not distracting from the contents. Thank you so much❣️👍
Great video! I liked that you changed out the bobbin for the back to blend in also. I'll be giving this a try rather than making a flange binding. Thanks!
Thanks for this video. I always hate to do the bindings because of the seams are always wavy . I have this foot but was not sure what it was to be used for. We just got the new Brother Luminaire a couple of weeks ago and have not used all the feet that came with it. But i will be giving this one a try for sure. As many quilts as we make this will help us so much.
Tony, I do a lot of bindings as I have a longarm business. I do a 2 1/4 for better control and always starch the prepared binding as I fold it over during binding prep. It keeps the binding from getting ripples. And I do use this foot!
@@robinkinley6851 Thanks that should help me with that problem as well, I have a new hanging that i will be binding today and i will use that tip. Happy sewing.
Do you buy your invisible thread bobbins? Or load them your self? Do you need to change your tension when using it in your bobbin? I know I need to when using as a top thread. LOVED this video!! I want to try it but would love to hear an answer before I try.
I wind my own bobbins. And it goes a long way. I don't change my tension. I haven't had any problems. I don't often use it in my needle. I don't have as much control with it in the needle.
I am sorry my hand was in the way so much of the time. I am going to do a repeat and move the camera a bit so you can see how nicely the corners come together.
Nice. While I am here all the time working harder to do binding around, and I just hate. But I do anyway. the pouches to carry mask looks so beautiful. I keep postponing to buy, I need to stop postponing.
Thank you! so invisible thread is the key and staying on the stitch line with the foot guide, yes? Ah ha! I’m going to attempt this again then after giving it up.
Is this the same foot as the stitch in the ditch foot from Baby Lock??? If it is I love this foot especially for top stitching in the ditch. Thank YOU for showing me how to use it for sewing on my binding WOW!!! I love the plastic thread as well it is GREAT.
It is NOT the same foot. The Stitch in the Ditch can do a lot of things but I prefer the Edge Joining foot for the binding. I found that the Stitch in the Ditch would sometimes get caught on the fabric.
I could hear the sewing machine but the conversation was very low, almost muted. I had my sound as loud as it will go but the voices were very hard to hear. Good idea for the edging foot. I plan to try it soon. Thank for sharing.
I haven't had my Cresendo very long. I am not a novice quilter, but the edge joining foot is new to me. My question is thread....1. What brand name of Invisible thread do you use, if you can say. 2. 50 wt cotton thread? I love Aurifil. Advice please? I plan on buying the foot immediately. It looks easier to use than my bi-level foot. Coral Cannon, Lubbock, Texas
It is a stiletto. You can call our shoppe. Ask for the Stiletto by Annie. My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe at 435-213-3229. We would love to send you one. It is one of my favorite tools.
So glad I discovered you fun ladies! Thank you for your awesome videos! I have the bias binding foot and the edge joining foot but haven’t tried either yet. However, it would appear like this edge joining foot actually would be better? Any thoughts? Thx
They both help you sew on the binding. The Bias Binding Foot is easier to use on light weight projects without sharp corners. It works better with a smooth curve. On the other hand, you can bind a heavy or light weight quilt with the Edge Joining foot. And the corners are a piece of cake. I am going to do another video just on corners. I hope it helps.
I've been making a quilt for my sister in law out of her late dad's clothes, really struggling with the binding catching it underneath and being all the same so I've decided to do it this way. The binding is like velour and sucks because it moves and you can't really iron it 😔 anyway, I'm going to try this method, but as the quilt is thick will it be OK with the binding foot or do I need the walk foot? This gives a better professional fonoah on the front for sure
I have searched and searched and now I have finally found the best binding tutorial on TH-cam!
Thanks for the batting tip!
Wonderful. The tutorial is so nicely done. I will be doing this from now on with binding. Thank you.
I do this too
I purchased a set of different sewing feet and didn’t even know I had this special device. I’m using this for my binding and top stitch from now on. Thanks. I

Thank you sooo much!!
i used to stitch my fold over binding down by hand, never again. I tried this with one of my quilts for a baby. Worked great. Love it. Thank you for your tip.
I just found this video and I am amazed. This is brilliant. Thanks for the video
Oh my god never in a million years would I have thought to use an edge joining foot. Thanks !!!!
Oh wow! Wish I'd known that last month when I was binding several baby quilts!!! I have to remember these tips!! Thank you!
I won't top stitch without my edge joining foot. Its amazing how much straighter your stitching is with it!
Another use for the edge joining foot!
I've been using my zipper foot (on the right sidel to do this.
Thank you so much!
Same as stitch in the ditch foot. This foot is great for both!
I have a Singer 201 Treadle that has an guide that bolts to the deck to keep the seam the same distance from the edge. I got it from my mother who got it from her mother who got it in 1936 and it works today as good as when it was new.
Neat Trick! Invisible thread made my day even better!
I love your sewing space. A dream
Wow that’s amazing that foot came with my machine didn’t know what to use it for❤❤❤❤. TFS 😊
Thank you! I didn't even know this foot existed. I need this in my life!
I love mine on my Pfaff, I can stitch in the ditch so accurately it astonished me! Best foot yet xxxxx
Thank you, I was wondering if I could use this on my pfaff!
me too
My Janome QCP came with this foot, but I had no idea what it was for. Thank you for this video, I'm going to "wear mine out", too! Much appreciated!
That foot does more also. Google it to find out. 😉
That is the way that I sew my bindings on, but have never tried the edge joining foot. Will have to try. I had a hard time seeing how Barb did the corners. Thanks.
I know. I am sorry. We are going to do another without my hands in the way. That is so frustrating!
Wow! Ive just bought a sewing machine and feel a new foot buying opportunity coming on! Thanks so much for sharing your experience so us newbies can learn from the best. YAY BARB!!!
Thanks, Tracy!
What a great tip from Barb. I have all the feet that come with the machine and probably haven't used half of them. Keep up the great pointers and showing us how to use of feet for different things. Thanks, Barb and Kris.
You are so welcome Janice! Thank you so much for watching!
Wow! What a wonderful tool. I'll have to see if my old machine can use one of these attachments. This takes all the guesswork and unevenness out of the quilt. It looks so professional. Thank you for making this video. .
You are so welcome. It does take out the guesswork. I really love it. My quilts never looked so good.
This is something I'm going to try as I machine sew on the front but handstitch the back. Thank you so much. Tracy. UK
Just ordered an edge joining foot :-) Thanks for a good demo!
Thank you for this ladies, I had no idea how useful this foot can be!
I love mine too. Best foot ever.
We are busy watching! Great tip. I’ll use it💝
I have a stitch in the ditch foot for my Janome. The needle hole is wide for zigzag, so I can just move my needle position and do this. Awesome!
Kathy Marlowe I was thinking the same thing for my Janome. 👍🏻
This video is so wonderful. Will save me many hours.
Thank you so much for this video. I've shied away from bindings. I think I'm ready to try it!
You go for it, Betty!
Good demonstration - I do have a question about this foot. I have an older machine that does not change needle position and just wondered if that would be a problem to utilize this foot properly. thank you for sharing your time and talents!
Well done, lovely finish.

You guys got me to try invisible thread!
I love it for binding!
Thank you
Barb, thanks for that little tutorial with the edge foot on quilts.
I have one of those feet! I’m going to use it for binding now! Thank you! I learn something new every day! ❤️
Awesome demonstration! I’m going to try this. You two are so relaxed that your conversation exchange was warm & inviting and not distracting from the contents. Thank you so much❣️👍
I have a Janome 6600p. Will this foot work in it?
Can I use the edge joint foot in making the jelly roll rugs
I am waiting for my set of feet to arrive and can hardly wait to try this!
Wow AMAZING. Also you guys seem so nice!
Thank you Kerrie Lou!
Thanks for this. I have this foot have now have a new use for it.
Great technique and video! Subscribed.
fantastic, going to try this. Thank you
Great video! I liked that you changed out the bobbin for the back to blend in also. I'll be giving this a try rather than making a flange binding. Thanks!
Zwow i wish i tjought of that. I do the fold over by hand NEVER again! Thank you!
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much. I have that presser foot and had no idea how to use it. 😘🤗
So did i
Thank you for uploading this video.
You're welcome! :)
Great tutorial! Thanks you guys.
great. beautiful material too.
Handy little foot!
Thank you, great tutorial!
You are welcome!
I love that stylus.

You are welcome, Linda!
Oh, you did show the back after my comment. Thanks!
Chris! You are just as cute as a bugs ear! What a pretty smile! You could light up a room with that!
This is so helpful. Thanks 😊
This is a lifesaver. I must have eleven quilts waiting for binding
Great idea!!
Thanks for sharing .. awesome!
Thank you! ❤️
I also back stitch when sewing miter corners.
You have got to be an Osmond. Great video by the way, thank you.
Just the Good Bits first thing I thought, too! 🤣
Kris gets that all the time. Even Marie Osmond's mom thought she should join the family. But she is not, sorry.
I have this foot thank you for showing me how to use it
You are welcome! I use this foot in some way on every project I do.
One of my favorite feet. You can stitch in the ditch with it, too.
Terrific video...thanks for sharing this tip.
You are very welcome!!
I bought a set of feet but didn’t know how to use it. Thank you
I use this foot for stitch in the ditch and for joining fabric together on my Aria Baby Lock
Thanx for a great video..what kind of invisible thread do you use? Jan
Thanks this is amazing
I bought it but have never used it! Now I know what to do with it!

Very nice
Great tool... now I have to get one!! lol
My sewing machine does the same thing as far as replacing the feets. Easy with a low shank...
Does that foot come in the Altair from Babylock?
I would check with your dealer to see if that foot was included with your machine.
What is the difference between this and using your stitch in the ditch foot
My question, too!
Same foot.
Is this the same foot as the stitch in the ditch foot from Baby Lock??? If it is I love this foot especially for top stitching in the ditch. Thank YOU for showing me how to use it for sewing on my binding WOW!!! I love the plastic thread as well it is GREAT.

Coral Cannon, Lubbock, Texas
Any invisible thread will work. I don't have a favorite brand. I do have a soft spot for Aurifil. This foot is very easy to use. You will love it!
I was happy to see you use the awl. Not commonly used. How else do you use it?
It is a stiletto. You can call our shoppe. Ask for the Stiletto by Annie. My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe at 435-213-3229. We would love to send you one. It is one of my favorite tools.

How long do you cut binding strips all in one or size of each sides?.
I do one long strip and then join them where they meet.
You can put invisible thread in bobbin?
Yes, I find it easier than using it in the top thread.
Well, I'm glad I came across your video, I was wondering how to use that foot. Thanks
Thank you for your tips!
I just bought the Aria and got a Stitch in the Ditch Foot for Digital Dual Feed. Will this work the same as the foot you are using?
Great idea but what about the use of invisible thread. My concern is melting in the dryers. Thanks.
I don't think I would iron it and i wouldn't dry it on the highest heat. But I don't use the highest heat for anything.
Is this different from a stitch in the ditch foot? It looks very similar
Same foot.
It's ok to use this foot in place of a walking foot for sewing the binding? Does it feed the layers in the same way a walking foot does?
It doesn't feed the layers the same way as a walking foot, but that wouldn't be a problem if your quilt is quilted before putting on the binding.
Also I have a stitch in the ditch foot and the other ones I listed below. So are they all the same thing???
I have been trying to figure out what that sewing foot was for. That is going to make some things much easier. 😄😄😂😂
What is your binding measurement . Do you fold it in half?
I cut my binding at 2 1/2". Then I fold it in half and press before I sew it on.
I would love to know other things you can do with a joining foot. I will try this binding method soon. Thx
Great vid! Question! What size bias binding? I use 2 1/2 in. and it's too big.
What stitch was being used?
I just had my needle in the right needle position. That would make it about 1/4" from the right side.
I've been making a quilt for my sister in law out of her late dad's clothes, really struggling with the binding catching it underneath and being all the same so I've decided to do it this way.
