I hear a little Chris Robinson. I think your voice should go in that direction. That was great. A little more whiskey and cigarettes it will be right there. LOL
I am a big fan, but may I give some opinionated feedback? You are a phenomenal guitarist, and I am really impressed with your vocals, but my preference would be that you clean up the sound and play cleaner. Use the drive sparingly to add dynamics. Your sound is too consistent. I think it is a mistake most of us make, but those who really make a mark in the music understand this. You can't emphasize a crescendo if you start on the top of the mountain. Use drive sparingly for emphasis. You are far too great of a guitarist to bury your talent under all that overdrive. Few people can play clean and sound great. You are one of those few. I've been playing guitar for over 30 years and I can't hold a candle to you. You are truly blessed with great talent. Please re-record this clean. I think you might be surprised how much better it will sound. Just the opinion of someone no where near as talented as you. Keep playing.
Okay, just so you know, he just cranked a 1959 baseman. There is no drive or pedals or gain stages. And did you notice his use of dynamics from chorus to verse? He rolled the volume back on his guitar and got that sparkly tone. He controlled his dynamics well. Listen to it again. You’ll see what I’m sayingg
I understand, but the sound is too overdriven. Maybe the bassman cranked is causing it, but either way, the song would be better served with more dynamic variance. That's just my opinion, but you know how opinions go. I'm not the artist, I'm just one audience member. I felt like he could benefit from a different perspective. Matthew is very talented, I feel that his quest for SRV sound will do little to propel him to the level his talent should take him. Matthew needs to find his own unique sound that sets him apart from all the other artists. He's too good to fall into the trap so many of us fall into.
So true Daniel, It's just my opinion and it was intended to be helpful. If I was right all the time I'd be the rock star. Instead, I'm just some old dude commenting on a talented young man's youtube channel. Matthew, your awesome!
You know I dig your style, but that strat tone does not compliment your voice at all. Take the fistortion way down, get that sweet strat warm overdrive tone, take the overall volume down. Your guitar and your voice are competing for the same sonic space, and both are losing. A little warm overdrive, a touch of verb, a hint of delay, that's all you need. Don't try to compete with the band volume, make them serve your voice. Old school producer here, rolling analog since before you were born. Nice to see you keepin' it reel.
Matt, I’m 15 and a freshman and when someone asks me what I want to be, it’s a musician hands down, and that’s all because of you, no joke, nothing made me realize what I really wanted in life like your videos and I really hope by the time I’m able be able to see your shows, you won’t be too big for me to see.

Sometimes, when my mind has got me down

And if you would listen now
‘cuz it’s so hard to believe
The grey that is
The differences
Between you and me

The price you’ve paid

Main Riff 1x
[Verse 2]
When it’s late
And I’m tired
When I hope you would come to me
It’s hard sometimes
To tame my mind
Just don’t come naturally
And if you should worry now
You know just how I feel
You didn’t need
To change your dreams
To change em all for me
[Chorus]
When you’re alone
The mirror
Tells me what’s new, you see
The colors change
They fade away
The things in the mirror, yeah, did you find
Is what you need
The price you’ve paid
Growth that’s unmade yeah
Glorious Instrumental/Solo Break

I enjoyed it distortion and all.
Hey, it's just one song. Maybe the next one will be clean?
So true Daniel, It's just my opinion and it was intended to be helpful. If I was right all the time I'd be the rock star. Instead, I'm just some old dude commenting on a talented young man's youtube channel. Matthew, your awesome!
I watch this daily... please release this on Apple Music!!! Been dying to hear this stuff while driving around!
Thank you very much, working on the album
You know I dig your style, but that strat tone does not compliment your voice at all. Take the fistortion way down, get that sweet strat warm overdrive tone, take the overall volume down.
Your guitar and your voice are competing for the same sonic space, and both are losing.
A little warm overdrive, a touch of verb, a hint of delay, that's all you need. Don't try to compete with the band volume, make them serve your voice.
Old school producer here, rolling analog since before you were born. Nice to see you keepin' it reel.
Any examples of anything that "you've" produced with the mix that you're describing?
Come on Dude, keep going, the world need yours song caralhow!

Matt, I’m 15 and a freshman and when someone asks me what I want to be, it’s a musician hands down, and that’s all because of you, no joke, nothing made me realize what I really wanted in life like your videos and I really hope by the time I’m able be able to see your shows, you won’t be too big for me to see.
youre young, start now. work everyday. vocals, song writing, guitar playing, recording, and VIDEOS!
Matthew Scott I’ve been doing these and it’s really good to know I’m on the right track. Thanks so much for all you’ve done for me, you really have changed my life and put me on the track I needed to be whereas all other paths had left me confused and worried
Great song man, still wishing this available on spotify
The intro riff gives me some Jimi Hendrix - Bold As Love vibe! So catchy!
