To explain some of the mistakes: Game development is chaotic sometimes. I spent 10 years as a video game tester, and sometimes you'd write up an issue like placeholder text or textures, the dev would fix it, you'd confirm the fix, and then at some point something broke or something (the reason wasn't always explained to us) and they had to roll back some files. Because the issue is small it's sometimes not found again, so the issue is never reopened. Sometimes it is reopened, but some higher up says it's trivial and waives it. Sometimes it's deemed too high risk. It's late in the project and messing with this one thing might cause bigger issues somewhere else, so it's just not worth it.

The Green Chu Jelly/ green potion, was originally going to be used to restore magic power. During development of Twilight Princess though, they scrapped magic power from the game. There was an interview if I recall correctly where they talked about it. It is one of the few Zelda games that exclude magic power.
When they inevitably remake Dark Souls they should have that door lead somewhere. Not sure where lore-wise would make sense but I’m sure they could come up with something cool.
Atreus making fun of Kratos for thinking that giants are actually giant would have been a fun addition. 😀 (considering in the game the giants are extremely large)

Digimon World from PS1, the spanish version. You can´t finish the game because one agumon at certain point of the game doesn't have its line. Meaning you can't talk to him and progress the game. This happens early in the game so as a kid I felt really frustrated as why I couldn't finish that game and why I was so bad at it. 10+ years later I downloaded a rom for PS3 and got to finish the game in english which is not bugged.

Along with the Dark Souls floating door there's also the floating statue in Bloodborne. I think these sort of things are funny and reveals the humility in game developers, when it doesn't get out of control and run rampant ofcourse 😅
The door by the Cleric Beast’s Bridge is definitely pretty infamous to. The door can’t be opened under any circumstances from both sides of it and there is no explanation given for that, it can’t open. Probably was meant to be a shortcut but for some reason it never was completed.
I was 12 when I noticed that Pokémon continuity fail. The anime had an entire arc where Ash borrows a Haunter to challenge the Saffron City gym leader. However, when I played my games, she’d mop the floor with me! In fact, Psychic was immune to damn near everyone in the original games. I’m not sure if the Virtual Console versions were patched but they certainly fixed the games by the time the remakes started hitting store shelves. Can’t confirm if it started with FireRed/LeafGreen but it was fixed in the Let’s Go titles.
Just something I heard but the reason for that was because it was supposed to restore magic in the game but later on in development they scrapped the idea and forgot that blue plus yellow equals green and left the empty box lol
The only Ghost type move in Gen 1 that did damage was Night Shade which deals damage fixed to your level regardless of supereffective status. There were only 3 Ghost type Pokemon in Gen 1, Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar. All Ghost/Poison type. That Poison dual typing is why all 3 suffer weakness to Psychic type attacks. They were never immune.
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess was originally meant to have a magic meter, which would be refilled with a green Chu. But they scraped the idea and forgot to completely remove the green Chu entirely.
To be completely fair, Gen 1 Pokemon only had three ghost types: Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar, all of which are ghost/poison but again, are also the only ghost types in the game. And yes, psychics aren't weak to ghost like they should be in Gen 1, and the reason it's easy to miss is because the only two damaging ghost moves in those games are Night Shade and Lick, with Night Shade doing unique damage based on your level so it skips effectiveness checks (even today), and Lick being such a weak move that most people forget it early in their movesets. Super interesting video!

More of a glitch, but I remember when first playing Blood Money we were really stuck on the Whitehouse mission and on my friend's turn he went all "fuck it" and just sprinted past every guard and it somehow worked. On the end of mission newspaper, however, all that was displayed was "Error on line 4". Apparently the game couldn't handle how brazen his run through was!
In Ancient Domains of Mystery the devs left in references to the "Scroll of Omnipotence" that led players on a wild goose chase even after Thomas Biskup repeatedly admitted that there was no way of getting it. In the ADOM Revival they implemented a way of getting the Scroll of Omnipotence, which is way harder than finishing the notoriously tough game, and so far the scroll could not be deciphered.

7:08 The mistake of Falcon shifting in his seat. You can hear an audible click. Similar to the sound my gaming chair makes when i lean back into it. haha
7:24 The most common reason I've heard, and it makes sense so it probably is the original intended logic, psychic type weaknesses are (or at least were) supposed to be linked to fears. Fear of the dark (once that type was introduced), fear of ghosts, fear of bugs.
I don't think the Bioshock one is necessarily a mistake but rather something that no one was supposed to find so they just went with something meaningless for those that did. A troll move basically.
The same sort of thing is done in the game zork at the beginning of the game. There are some runes on the wall of the house and if you ask the game what they say it reads;" This space intentionally left blank".
My biggest is in Dying Light in the Quest The Troll. The NPC tells you that he has hung up his wizard's hat and that your friends have come to rescue the kids. Though you find the wizard hat on the stand but the kids are just left to their own devices. Which makes me feel terrible about their entire world and out existence in it lol.
The bug weakness makes sense. It is based on fears Bugs, ghosts and darkness. I never noticed the ghost moves not working lol. The ghost moves were pretty bad anyway haha. Same with bug, I just used slash and quick attacks to take put psychic types haha
The original Resident Evil game has a weird moment where if you the Yawn snake in the right spot, Barry will just walk through it and still be asking if you found anything interesting.
I'll tell you one mistake I never miss is when the developers set the default view angle so the horizon is halfway up the screen instead of 2/3. It makes you feel like your character is looking up all the time. Red Dead Redemption 2 does this when you're on horseback and it always drives me crazy. The horizon is correct when you're on foot, but wrong on horseback. Just put the horizon 2/3 of the way up the screen and keep it there!
When I was working at Midway we caught one like this in The Suffering: Ties That Bind. There was a part where a section roof falls down, and before they had added the debris to fall, they just had a picture of the Hamburglar saying Rubble Rubble stuck to the ceiling in its place. Almost made to release.
Small mistakes people miss. Can’t expect all developers to be completely perfect. Especially after years of development and they just want to get it finished
"Players thought the vial switching hands was a hint at the next game" Me: *nodding along* "Ah yes, I see, they thought he got punched into a mirror universe." "They thought the Joker switched the vials" Me: "Oh"
The Red & Blue mistake was especially bad, because Ghastly and its evolutions were the ONLY Ghost type Pokemon in the games. Ghastly and its evolutions were all Poison types, which take double damage from Psychic types. I found this so frustrating as a kid, because the game just outright lies to you about how to beat Sabrina. Ghosts didn't even have a lot of Ghost type moves to choose from. Only three. Of those three, one does not deal damage, and one does a set amount of damage, regardless of the target's type (so type advantage doesn't matter). The one remaining offensive move is Lick, with a pathetic attack stat of 20, which is even weaker than Tackle (35). So even if Ghost types could deal Super Effective damage, they'd barely be doing more damage than they'd be doing with a move Rattata knows when you catch it on Route 1. Bug types are supposed to have an advantage over Psychics too. If you're wondering why Ghost and Bug (and later Dark) are strong against Psychic, it's because the Psychic type's weaknesses are based on fear. Ghosts and Bugs are scary, and darkness (or evil) is also scary. But anyway, in the first generation, the Bug type was also not a good counter to Psychics. Not only did Bugs also often come with Poison as a secondary typing, but offensive Bug moves were in short supply, even among Bug types. And all of those attacks were weak. The strongest Bug type attack was Twin Needle, with an attack stat of 25. Even taking into account that Twin Needle can hit twice, or that it can occasionally poison the target, comparing it to the selection of moves Psychic types have access to makes them shows just how pathetic Bug types were. The strongest Psychic move is Dream Eater, with an attack of 100. Granted, the opponent must be asleep before you can use this, but the next most powerful attack is Psychic, with an attack of 90. Psychic also has a 33% chance of lowering the Special stat, meaning the target would take additional damage the next time. TLDR: Psychics had no weaknesses.
The lore explanation for the dragon butts is that after gwyn won the war on dragons they got a little board and wanted to have some fun. So they decided to to revive some dragon butts so that they can you know.... Some time later the entire place got filled with lava in an attempt to hide what they (the gods) were doing in their free time because someone leaked it on Reddit
A caveat to the Pokémon bug: it wasn't that Psychics were immune to Ghost moves, there wasn't any damaging Ghost type moves in R/B/Y besides Nightshade, which did fixed damage everytime based on the user's level, so you couldn't get a super effective hit. They were only immune to Lick for some reason, but Lick was useless in Gen 1 anyway. Also, ALL Gen 1 Ghosts (there was only 3, the Ghastly line) had the Poison subtype which made them all dirt against Psy. This basically lead to Psychics being absolute beasts in the meta and basically pseudo legends.

The biggest video game mistake I missed was Anthem. That entire game was a huge mistake, and I didn't play it and never will.
LOVE ME SOME DAILY GAMERANX! SWAGATRONIC!
When something like this happens in a game, a wizard did it.
Why is this an ad? Last time I checked, this wasn’t a far-right podcast.
It is based on fears
Bugs, ghosts and darkness.
And the fact you can see the bed chaos arena from the outside by looking to the side of the entrance is a fun one
#1 subscribing to anything Gamerankx has to say
Oh i noticed i just still liked using the Ghost
3:04 "When in reality it was just Rocksteady pulling a Bebop"
I'll tell you one mistake I never miss is when the developers set the default view angle so the horizon is halfway up the screen instead of 2/3. It makes you feel like your character is looking up all the time. Red Dead Redemption 2 does this when you're on horseback and it always drives me crazy. The horizon is correct when you're on foot, but wrong on horseback. Just put the horizon 2/3 of the way up the screen and keep it there!
I was surprised you didn't include the gloves on/ gloves off on Sephiroth in FFVII.
the no more heros one does make sense as his brother is the 4 assassin now
When I was working at Midway we caught one like this in The Suffering: Ties That Bind. There was a part where a section roof falls down, and before they had added the debris to fall, they just had a picture of the Hamburglar saying Rubble Rubble stuck to the ceiling in its place. Almost made to release.
I loved that game
Small mistakes people miss. Can’t expect all developers to be completely perfect. Especially after years of development and they just want to get it finished
"Players thought the vial switching hands was a hint at the next game"
Me: *nodding along* "Ah yes, I see, they thought he got punched into a mirror universe."
"They thought the Joker switched the vials"
Me: "Oh"
The real mistake was using a weapon you didn’t have the stats for in the thumbnail
Why didn't you show the footage with sound from oblivion?
Falcon: "Nothing is perfect..."
Me: **looks at the Last of Us games** "Umm... Say what?"
I remember the Sentinel , thought was odd but never a mistake
It was deadly with that needler
Needler sentinel is sick
I respect dude for doin his own thing. They zig, he zags, like me. lol
The friendly crow in hemwick chanel Lane in bloodborne definitely should have been mentioned here
The biggest video game mistake I had missed so far is Battlefield 2042
Thief:Gold has a reference mistake that makes speed potions unavailable in the shop on The Lost City on Expert. This mission is the second longest in the game.
18 second gang yessir I love you gameranx
You show up early now Gameranx.
Haa, decided to publish early today.
