It's not lava. They are billions of nanomachines superheated to the point that they glow red. The Fireclaw sends tunneling torpedos of them under you, and they explode upwards and rain down on you. Jochem Braad In the game, several of the Data point articles reveal how the machines are made with nanobots. It says that they use their nanobots to defend themselves in different ways.
This Fireclaw is such a bitch, especially if you playing at harder difficulty. He just never stops moving, and none of the crowd control seems to work on him. It's like fighting a Dark Souls boss.
Even more annoying when you use the ropecaster in just stands up and brushes them off like it's saying "really you thought that would work?" Uh yeah it worked on everything else in the game.
I definitely found that fighting these guys outside the cauldron was so much easier because you had more room to move, more time to prepare because you could lose them behind rocks, in grass etc. I probably died 6 or 7 times on UH in the cauldron but when I went after the 5 wild fireclaws, I managed things a lot better. Though, you also had the advantage of overriding at least one of them in a location, and other machines around to help you fight, too. It was actually pretty fun after my frustrating experience in the cauldron!
Last cauldron fight against the fire claw took me about 10 tries. Just beat the game today and now it’s cake taking on any of these machines. I’m hyped for the next horizon
I feel like I almost cheated when I beat my fireclaws... I went up high on a hill if possible right outside of their territory (trying to stay around the white circle on the map that shows up around their icon) and just shot the upgraded banuk ice rail at them, then other damaging arrows. I was close enough for it to give damage but far enough away where the thing wouldn't notice me or even be able to attack me because I was outside of it's limits LOL. It took a little time and a ton of chillwater but it was literally so easy to beat them that way instead of getting my ass clawed left and right every two seconds.
Sanyam Malhan not gonna lie, after I tear blasted the daemonic rockbreakers drills, I knocked the shit out of it. Easy kill. The only machine I completely struggle with is the fireclaw. Frostclaws are easy.

Kazataca That is so true, I was playing Ultra Hard Mode with the blue rarity weapons and when I got to the mission of the 3 frostclaws man I died like a thousand times until I finally manage to beat it. It wasn't a very fun experience, but a welcome challenge.
And they are often accompanied with other demonic machines which you can't override to fight alongside you. It's fun to use tear ammo and take of Stormbird's stuff so it can't do anything than just fly in front of you. Or remove Thunderjaw's tail and guns.
I felt so at first to, but I came to like them. The other machines are easy if you figured out how they work especially with good weapons. Even on Ultra hard, shoot 3 Sharpshoot arrows in the belly of a trampler and boom, he burnes to death all alone. "ropecast" Thunderjaw or Stormbird and attack heavy weapons and then freeze them and take them down with explosives. Machines sensitive to fire are even in Ultra hard so done if you already carry the forgefire with three modslots (mine has 285 damage and 110 fire). BUT the new ones... They force the player to search for other ways to kill them. I've watched a few let's player and many player came to a point where they just hide and work with explosive wires and the blast sling. That works if you take your time on ANY machine, even in ultra hard. So even I was frustrated too, I am glad that Frozen Wilds provides a new challenge. Now while I try "out of the forge" on ultra hard I am glad that no one makes me do that (except myself). Yesterday I died until I was so done ;) Now I killed the first one and now I am out of wire and looking for an alternative to alternate ropecaster and icerail until it can't burn me anymore and take it down with arrows after that :)
I like to hit one of their power cell from behind with an electric arrow. Then a few tearblast arrows to upper back to reveal the additional power cells. Revealing them is optional though. Then I proceed to take out the power cells and fire sacs. Always have three arrows ready in two bows so you have time to destroy a fire sac when the machine is in shock. Take out the last fire sac after the last power cell and let the machine burn to death or shoot it a few times with your bow. This strategy is quite easy even on Ultra hard and requires a relatively low amount of resources. The minimum should be: Three electric arrows Nine sharpshooter arrows Nine hunter bow arrows. Wear the stealthiest outfit you've got so you can hide quickly. But yeah, there are many ways to bring down a machine. I like this method because it doesn't take many resources and utilizes all the weak spots. Makes you realize that a fireclaw isn't the arrow sponge you thought.
I have played through this game 2.5 times and today i learned you can have 3 arrows readied on standby in multiple bows this is going to change the entire way i play

The trick in beating is attacking its joint like he did. You can use rope caster and freeze bombs to make him stay in a place so that you can get the accurate shot to do major damage. Be careful, don’t miss it. Since the window is small.
The strategy I used was try to get behind them and shoot those electric things with electric arrows, a single one would disable the beast for 15 seconds giving me enough time to fire arrows to all his weak points and it made it pretty easy
Not saying youre doing it wrong, but I always hit them with tearblast arrows to remove the armor, freeze them with the champion bow, then hit the green "muscles" with sharpshot precision arrows. This method is very effective, but great video ✌
Finish the DLC story. One is the final boss, and then a final (optional) mission appears where you have to clean up the mess you made. Also, there are two in the DLC hunting grounds.
For fireclaw i usually just use my shock arrows to shoot one of his power cell to stun him and than use my x3 hardpoint arrow either x3 precision arrow to hit all of his Explosive components and when the stun effect is almost gone try to repeat the step until he is dead. Another advise is try learn to dodge fireclaw attack will help a lot in this fight. As for frostclaw if i not mistaken he have something cover his two power cell that you need to use tearblast arrow to break it before you can shoot your shock arrow to his power cell. Overall the same process. Shoot power cell for stun and than shoot every of his explosive components for huge damage but try to stay a bit far from him as the explosive components explode will deal aoe damage.
I hate wire on ultrahard mode because you run out easily and make it harder to collect from a mercent. I prefer the sharpshooter bow because of its ability to hit specific spots with more heavy damage than a striker bow. Fireclaws are no joke when it comes to being set on health and endurance. It's as awful from a range as it is being up close and personal, which is a really bad idea to do with it in general. Have to learn how to dodge this monster. I still didn't even learn how to correctly dodge the attacks of a scorcher.
The key is that they didn't run away from it. They rolled under it instead. That stops their attack sequence. If you run away they just keep coming at you.
My strategy put 3 ropecaster then spam with hardpoint arrow This makes him cancel hi claw attack when he stands up and his jump move but he can still throw so be careful and have fun!
@@kristinerachelverueda3145 I'll try with my Ropecaster, tearblast wont work because Fireclaw doesn't have any other exposed parts, like you can shoot off Thunderjaw Dics launcher or other parts.
The biggest bullshit in this game is BOTH the fire and frostclaws able to make lava and ice appear out of nowhere below you. It really makes no sense... But I figure that they had to make the DLC more difficult and make these new machines challenging. The only pain in the ass with the fireclaw is the HP it has and when it does the continuous claw attacks where you have to roll dodge and time it perfectly to avoid it. Which after defeating so many, became trivial as hell to beat them. All other attacks are easy to deal with, aside from the lava one where sometimes it's just upredictable or has a larger AoE than what you are expecting. Also, the best weapon for the fireclaw is the RATTLER with Ice and Damage upgrade Mods. After he freezes, you change to Hardpoint arrows with maximum damage upgrades and some handling and fire at it dealing lots of damage. And for the outfits, use outfits that have fire and close range attack resistance. Fire being more important because the meele attacks you can just dodge them.
Does this tactic work on the lower difficulties as well? I tend to find them incredibly hard to deal with even on the 'Normal' difficulty. Then again im playing on a first time playthrough still. Any tips anyone could give me would be appreciated!

I didn’t have ice anything when I played either just my bow and those bombs it was nightmare for me. I say get ice arrows and ice rail and target the weak points and u will be fine and use the rope caster if u can
Such a cool enemy. I still think the Thunderjaw might be the best enemy in the game but these guys are close. I haven't actually fought the Fireclaw yet, only the Frost version, which are hard enough if you square off on them with a bow. The first one I encountered I just kind of kited him around a central rock pillar and put blast wires all over the place so as he rounded the corner to follow me he'd run into them. Now I try to fight them directly but sometimes die. The move they do where they cause icicles to come out of the ground is pretty annoying.

how can your bow do 363 damage .. :) that was insane on PC release, i got only 100 damage - thats 363 alone is so easy to beat anything.. - even blast sling only do 160 damage
It depends what mods you have on your bow, where you hit him (armor weakened or not as well), and then a roll of the dice by the game. I’ve gotten over 400 on a hit before, though my average is about 200 points.
I just run and gun. Sling freeze em, fill em with arrows and dodge. Repeat as needed 😂😂 I don’t got the patience to rope em since after enough damaged they’re let loose and components don’t really fall like that anyway
lisquidsnake I found a couple one is in the entrance to the frozen wilds on the climb up just keep searching the main trail it's not off trail but there are extensions to the main trail so pretty much just never take the first trail you see just jeep following it and only go up when you absolutely have too
Konrad Styczek not just that. It’s also mire armored and more aggressive than the frostclaw. It is much easier to remove armor pieces from the vital areas on a frostclaw.
Sounds like it's way easier on NG+ then lol. Especially with that adept bow with extra mod slot. I play on ultra hard on just a regular playthrough and it takes like at least 10 minutes to down a fireclaw. Yours seemed to take less damage too though that's obviously not possible. Didnt think to roll forward under his legs tho. Good strat.
Nicely done, though it would have been more efficient to go for the fire unit and fire sacs. I set myself a challenge to take 0 hits from that Fireclaw and beating it only with damage arrows, no special ammunition. That video is on my channel.
not fast enough XD hehe.. tie him down and unload all 12 freeze nade on him.. Pop shoot with shadow carja sharpshooter bow.. 300+ per arrow.. stack 3 @ around 960.. do it twice and he's down. My real nemesis is twin or triple scorchers. XD

Still playing the game even after I have beaten it on normal and ultra hard. I am at level 91.
It's okay to lie
But be smart
Actually there is, they’re called ghostlevels. I saw a guy on level 146 because he keeps playing it
Robert Phillips there actually are. They are called Ghost level by Guerrilla. The game keeps advancing your levels, just without any benefit.
How do u do 1000+ damage? I use my 3 slot bow from main game and modified damage max but each hit was like 94 lol
Gary Hall It's a special bow that does charge attack
I need to kill another Fireclaw? Time to go ridgewood hunting :/ the fucking arrow sponges of the game. I find they're the only boss that is not gratifying to kill cuz they just take too long.
One of the more irritating things to kill. Even when dude is frozen, he moves as if he's not.
Wait, how did you get 4 modification slots on adept striker bow? I have only 3. Please respond
NewGame+.
very nice job.
Very Nice😳😳👍👍
Damn ! well played ....
how can your bow do 363 damage ..
@@NOLAgenX i will try again with perfect build - just need to see fireclaw again .
And I through the Thunderjaws were bad!
I'm confused. Why isn't it showing his HP?
Tom Martin not true. I'm playing on hard but turned health bars off in settings.
elmartin your comment makes no sense in context. Try again.
how do u have 4 mods on that bow?
It's the ng+ bow
I just run and gun. Sling freeze em, fill em with arrows and dodge. Repeat as needed 😂😂 I don’t got the patience to rope em since after enough damaged they’re let loose and components don’t really fall like that anyway
Finally someone on TH-cam using the best outfit.
What outfit is that?
@@ThotsAndPrayers This is the Nora Silent Hunter Master outfit. You can buy it with bluegleam from one of the frozen wilds merchants.
I use the banuk chieftain armor, I was able to get 3 15 percent stealth mods, so its still great for stealth and I get the health regen
What is the outfit name?
Where do you find these things?
lisquidsnake have u found one yet? i stuggle to find one either...
lisquidsnake I found a couple one is in the entrance to the frozen wilds on the climb up just keep searching the main trail it's not off trail but there are extensions to the main trail so pretty much just never take the first trail you see just jeep following it and only go up when you absolutely have too
Frozen wilds updates
prpbably only one poor designed thing in the entire game
Poorly designed? It was purposely designed to be the hardest robot in the game.
@@NOLAgenX man... it's the frozen version with boosted HP
Konrad Styczek not just that. It’s also mire armored and more aggressive than the frostclaw. It is much easier to remove armor pieces from the vital areas on a frostclaw.
I liked fighting this thing. Intense. Not sure what's poorly designed. Maybe that just means hard.
Go for the shoulders
What are your bow modifications?
I have the adept striker bow that you buy in NG+, it has 4 slots: Untested weapon coil (51 damage, 35 tear, 35 fire) Damage coil (44 damage, 15 handling) Pristine weapon coil (51 damage, 35 tear, 47 handling) Handling coil (61 handling, 23 damage, 16 fire)
cherngbutter where do you get that prestige weapon coil I have all the other ones
How do you get four modification slots? I have only three in banuk powershot bow.
Escapistier, you have to be in New Game +, I believe, to get the 4 modification slots. The weapon uses Adept in the title in New Game +
Good strat.
*wiretraps the shit outta them before engaging a fight*
that's what I do :/"
Já fui bom nesse jogo .
Ótimo jogo
Wow amazing
Was this before the patch though?
Alex Dewayne before
What did they do in the patch? Havent loaded this up in like a year
Soooo freeze its butt and throw arrows..got it
Nicely done, though it would have been more efficient to go for the fire unit and fire sacs. I set myself a challenge to take 0 hits from that Fireclaw and beating it only with damage arrows, no special ammunition. That video is on my channel.
Good job
Oh dear
No one shows where these are at thumbs down. You can't get the adept striker bow without killing one and getting the heart.
This is showing of and i have these tools
not fast enough XD hehe.. tie him down and unload all 12 freeze nade on him.. Pop shoot with shadow carja sharpshooter bow.. 300+ per arrow.. stack 3 @ around 960.. do it twice and he's down.
My real nemesis is twin or triple scorchers. XD
Fucking amazing!!!
There is no way that is on ultra hard
Bantei Chyne that's not true. You can turn it off in settings.
stephen shaddox it seems too easy to me to but I mean the pause screen at the end of the video shows it's on ultra hard.
Ik im too late but... 2:17
I agree, the damage the weapons are hitting are are way off. He was hitting this thing with it unfrozen for higher amounts than I was hitting it at frozen. There is either some very strange modification stuff going on or this is total BS
@@gumbilicious1 yup I just beat the fireclaws on ultra hard and I did about half this damage. I tied it down then froze it. Then attacked. Or tied it down and hit those power cores on it's butt with the electric arrows to stun it then I whooped on em some more.
this is not on ultra hard, though
It is, he shows it in the settings at the end of the video.
@@EndellionQT but Ultra Hard doesn't have aiming assist like crosshair. so the videos are not even on very hard.
