This was the first technique I learnt before I started cutting. It frees that hand up for so much including using the spray bottle. Less chance of little stabs too to the client. In the UK we simply call it the safety position. Nice video Sean, good tip
I got my license December 2019 Then few months later barbershops closed down and Barry reopened in my area So I’ve been out of work for a year Returning next week and I feel like I’ve lost all progress I’ve made :(
This video definitely deserves more recognition!! Super helpful, short and to the point definitely needs to be put out their for more people to see. Keep up the great work! :-)
For me a important reason is that it looks professional and people notice. If you hold standing their not knowing what to do with your hands people will get nervous and automatically dislike the cut
Thank you so much I always wondered...I've been cutting for 20 years and always ask my self "how do they do that" You deserve a subscription just on this tip.
@@Seancutshair unbelievably quick response🙏👌👍 You are definitely my number one go to Barber TH-camr 💈 Great Barber skills, human skills and also humble enough to answer back the comments from is fans. Respect from UK
ty!!! I could not flip them after several attempts, then I realized my hands were too small. (I'm a woman) The space between my 4th and pinkie was too small for everything to fit through. I tried it with my middle and ring finger, and it totally works! I normally have my middle finger in the scissor grip/hole. Thank you!
Great video! You always come in klutch! I have noticed you do this but when i tried it i would lose the shears lol or they would be close to falling now i know how to do it!!! Super super awesome! Thank you for your knowledge 🙏
In many states this practice is not "suggested' while taking your state boards ( if your state still mandates practical exams). The Maneuver is considered dangerous. Also if you're using a swivel type shear it can be difficult at best.
Its popular because it does more than just disinfect...i.e. lubricates, etc...alcohol could be used but it will not be good for the longevity of your blades because it will dry them out. Also, you need something that kills bacteria AND viruses, hence the 5 in 1 of Cool Care and products like it. Order off Amazon if they dont have in yiur area.
My school teachers try telling me not to do this but I always do it anyways 😅 I find it super helpful and I feel like it makes you look more like you know what you're doing too
Listen! I need you to do this slower and close up. I am getting my middle finger stuck in the rest trying to come back up. I don’t think I can see what you are doing correctly..

Nice! I like the terminology
Yess! Thank you for this!! I just started barber school and I'm struggling. More shear work videos would be great. Thank you. ☺️

Is rum barber a good channel to learn and get better at using shears
Definitely
That’s where I learned most of my techniques
Absolutely!
I learned to flip on the outside of my hand instead of the inside, looks super cool but great video. definitely necessary when working with shears!

In many states this practice is not "suggested' while taking your state boards ( if your state still mandates practical exams).
The Maneuver is considered dangerous.
Also if you're using a swivel type shear it can be difficult at best.
They also don’t allow guards at the state board 🤦🏻♂️
good video Sean. When I see you do shear work in my mind i'm like how does he do that with his sheers
Now ya know!
How do you feel about swivel shears? FS has a good selection.
I don’t personally use swivel but yes they have a few options
I got into the habit so much when I took my state board I was flipping my shears.
Passed to.
Good! They probably didn’t know anything about that!
Where can I get that jacket!?!? 🤩🤩
I did a super limited run! Sold out 🤷🏻♂️

Ha! Yeah he was shaggy! Not yet he’s hopefully gonna start cutting more soon.
Just put them further into your palm. Solves all 3 of these issues. Its mainly just for show.
