Man, seeing a Nuzlocke animated makes me realize that if pokemon actually died instead of fainting, the whole idea of having them fight each other would have a lot more fucked up implications. Like, you're sacrificing living beings that you've formed a bond with just to be able say "I'm the best at killing pokemon with other pokemon!"
That's a disturbing thought, but you're 100% correct. I would just be a pokemon daycare worker if that was the case
That's why I never plan to do a nuzlocke, it would actually kill all the fun for me.

That is actually the idea, that they die, which is why you can't catch a pokemon that fainted, need them alive to record their vital data in the balls. It's literally the only reason you can bring them back to life after "fainting" is through their Pokeball.
They decided to change it to "fainting" instead of dying to make it more kid friendly, but we know pokemon can die, we see it all the time, and even have documentation that pokemon, like real world animals, are used as food, meaning raising miltanks for milk and meat is also a thing. It's also why when ported to the US, they changed "evil" type pokemon to "dark" type instead, to make it sound more kid friendly and not give crazy anti-pokemon people more reason to try to boycott the games like we saw in the middle-east.
But in the pokemon world, it's also legal to marry pokemon, which makes a really weird world where you can marry a pokemon, but also eat food made from that pokemon too. It's all one very fucked up world the more you look into pokemon, it's history, and it's implications, including the countless pokemon that either steal souls, kidnap children, are made from the lost souls of children, or are just generally cursed.

Because your mother is clearly WAY too laid back to tell you you can't do something because of something like 'safety' or 'risk of being crushed'.
Seriously I always assumed it was your own idea. I remember once or twice wishing I could ride to the new house in a moving truck sprawled out on a couch or something.
First in Japan you typical don't drive the moving truck, the company driver did. So Mom was in the Passanger seat not the Drive. And also remember when the game was made it was still normal for life's to rides seatless in the back of vans, stationsagons, pickups, etc
14:45 no, in Emerald they do in fact have a Xatu and a Claydol, but they are still all level 42.
Leech Seed doesnt count as a status effect. Norman's Slaking was just that strong compared to Breloom.

I actually like the grinding in older games way more than the EXP.-gaining nowadays, tbh. As well as I loved to put sweat, tears and blood into getting & focusing on the team I want, to feel proud of it whenever I achieved it and look back at it, unlike SwSh, were every Pokémon you had to work to get it (like trade-evos and the final stages of pseudo-legendaries) is just there in the wild-area, like they were common and unspectacular, waiting for you to throw a Poké Ball to catch it.
As a person that's been playing since Pokémon Blue version...yeah, the grinding in the older games is absolutely soul sucking.

ok ive seen a lot of the big pokemon youtubers react to this and all they seem to care about when they reacted was the nuzlocke aspect, it was refreshing to see someone actually stop and appreciate the art and storytelling a bit more, also bonus points cus u uploaded this on my birthday

It's always been in my favorites list, for no reason reason.... I was so happy when they gave it a Mega and fairy type

It was one of those Pokémon that I knew of its existence but had never used it because it was not very common, so I only knew the basics and it was not that it caught my attention, It was thanks to the Mystery Dungeon that I gave it a little more importance, it appears in one of the chapters of the story, only has two or three dialogues and that's all, but it was enough for me XD
Momma was up front with all the Machamps, also as a canadian riding in the back of moving trucks and pickups is still kinda common here lol.

My interpretation on the whole "back of the truck" thing is that the mom was actually driving with you in the truck but since the driver and her occupied the only two seats, you had to ride in the back of the truck :o

She should've used Teriyaki with a fire move against Metagross. It's weak to ground, ghost, fire, and dark-types and dark-type moves.
@ElyskyPlayz I forgot about that. I only just remembered about Earthquake against Teriyaki.
The thing is, Metagross didn't become weak to Dark and Ghost attacks until Gen 6, because Steel lost its resistance to both types. Prior to Gen 6, Steel resisted both Dark and Ghost so the attacks would have been neutral. It's still weak to Fire and Ground, though. (This applies to the other Steel/Psychic types, Bronzor and Bronzong, assuming they don't have Levitate as there ability.)

Honestly, the only gym I remember having problems with was the Normal Gym and 'Dad'. I didn't even know the flying gym was that scary... xD But I also had a pretty strong electric pokemon on my team that wiped out everything.

If it's post gen 5 sturdy, yeah. Before that, it only works vs moves like Sheer Cold, Fissure, or any legit OHKO moves

As you saw during the Tate and Liza fight especially when it was paused, she had Squidward and Sin out but messed up and sent out ZipZapZop. She could've avoided that sad death by staying in.
You know what's worse than escaping in a submarine? Styling on the Elite Four and their champion with a flying fortress.
Leech Seed did not count as Status in the 3rd Gen. But it might have the Secondary Effect to Trap the Pokemon with Leech Seed on it. I honestly dont remember
I think Leach Seed trapping the Pokemon that it's used on wasn't a thing until Gen VI at the latest.

Yeah, Tate and Liza only had Lunatone and Solrock in the original Ruby and Sapphire, but they had more Pokemon in Emerald. Then they have five Pokemon in the first rematch, then six Pokemon after that.
there really should be a nuzlocke mode in pokemon
Bulbapedia says about Leech Seed "after a target is under the effect of Leech Seed", so if the opponent is under the effect of it, I would consider it a status effect. Effects the target's HP.
It's a different kind of status effect. Bulbapedia places Leech Seed (and other effects that disappear after switching out) in the Volatile status category. Effects that stay like Burn, Frozen and Sleep are Non-Volatile.
Also, Facade itself specifies it only doubles in power when the user is under the effects of Burn, Poison or Paralysis, so even the other non-volatile effects won't count. (Edit: Yes, I know Frozen and Sleep prevents you from attacking anyway, but technically you could use Facade while sleeping by using Sleep Talk)

From damage calculator it's supposed that ZipZapZop got 212 HP EVs to get 98 HP and survive in 2 HP from earthquake. So at least that's 106 marills killed

If you really cultivate, and buff your main flying type, I find they are usually aces in the hole against a lot of opponents.

Former owner of Ruby version(I want it back dammit--) and I can attest Winona is a gd scary and frustrating gym leader yeah.
Tate and Liza also frustrated me. Mostly because I was little and still didn't know type matchups too well yet (aside from the usual grass/fire/water)

I know someone already answered that Leech Seed isn't a status effect but one thing I use to identify status effects is the game won't let you inflict one pokemon with multiple status effects at the same time so by technicalities infatuation, wrap and confusion aren't status effects either
I loved how they made Wally have a Gallade in Pokemon ORAS but he was still a pushover lol
My Linoone became a boss later on. With Strength, Facade, Shadow Ball (Physical in Gen 3) and Belly Drum he wasn't someone to mess with.
That was basically me and a Grumpig. At first I didn't like Grumpig, but he became a pretty tough teammate in the end.

For the leech seed thing I think Onion died and then the last of the the Slaking's health was chipped away so it worked but Onion died

am i the only one who know that facade does much more damage when the pokemon that use the attack has a status effect, such as poison or leech seed
I've been told leech seed ismt considered a status effect that works with facade though? Have I been misinformed?
@@Allostar perhaps but if i bad don't recall even pokemon reloaded put it like that so even i' m not that sure about it but hey i know that onion should have live the facade
Its always annoying to grind with normal speed in pokemon. Have to run the grass and get the slow encounter intro before battle is just awfully slow. I love play Pokemon Rom on computer as you can just hold Space to go faster and it makes grinding less boring and goes faster. I wish there was an option for switch, 3Ds and gameboy to have a speed up button.
Btw are Legendaries not allowed to use in Nuzlocke? I can see Groudon to be very useful.I have been able to League with just a Groudon. Even tho it took me several tries.
