I'm gonna be that guy. They actually changed it a long time ago before she did this nuzlocke, but it's fun to think she has that sort of power over the Internet
She goes by primary types, which is why they could have Torterra on one team and Abomasnow on the other. Toterra is Grass/Ground, Abomasnow is Ice/Grass. Also, the Regis are from generation 3 and they are bulky as all get-out. I imagine they're quite good in nuzlocke randomizer runs because they are very bulky. Regirock and Regice are kind of situational because they favor one type of defense over the other, but Registeel doesn't care. It will shrug off damage all day long. Special, physical, doesn't matter. It's pure steel type so it resists half the moves in the game, and it has super high defense and special defense. Regigigas came out in gen 4 and was not so great - as far as legendaries go it's kind of an all-rounder, with pretty darn high physical attack, but its only ability is slow start which makes it very difficult to use to its fullest potential. It's also normal type, which does put stab on moves like giga impact, but slow start is just so bad on this Pokemon. It's not as bulky as the others, and it has virtually no resistances. So... not great. I'd take Regice over Regigas any day. Regileki and Regidraco came out in Sword and Shield, but I don't really know much about them because I haven't played a main series game in a while, much less Sword and Shield.
Abomasnow’s primary type is Grass. Though I guess most people associate it more with Ice than Grass. Same claim can be made as to why Bibarel and Dodrio are viable to the challenge, though it stretches to the fact that there were not Pokémon with Flying as their primary type until the immediate next main series games.
It's not really a nuzloke but alpharad has 3 more Pokemon videos worth watching. A playthrough of emerald using only mudkip. A playthrough of bdsp with just piplup and a randomizer playthrough jaiden and alpha did together for charity and everytime a charity milestone is reached, they have to release a random Pokemon in their party.
When I'm thinking about ground and rock, I try to think of ground as soil. The separation makes more sense to me if I'm thinking rich dirt that you can plant stuff in contrasted with a boulder.
29;03 Palkia is Water/ Dragon type which Water makes it immune to Ice which is normally Effective against Dragon type so Ice beam will not help her here so Palkia in this Games is only weak to Dragon types since Fairy doesn’t doesn’t exist yet.
Nice reaction. You should check out Jaiden's other channel, where she posted highlights from the Soul Link. I promise: What you saw on this animation only scratches the surface of the insane stuff that went on during the whole thing.
Well, one positive of a Soul Link is that if one of the two players is ever unsure of what the best option would be in a given situation, they can just talk it over with their partner, especially if they're more experienced/knowledgeable about things. That's the good thing about Soul Links, because it's a wholly cooperative Nuzlocke, you don't have to figure things entirely out on your own, you can ask for advice or strategies if you happen to be stumped by a specific situation. As for the respective starter choices they had, Alpharad's only "bad" choice would have been Ludicolo as it learns no moves on it's own due to being a Stone evolution, so the only way to teach it new moves is via TMs. But Alpharad's best choice was absolutely Torterra, as it's Grass/Ground typing is a good defensive type, it hits hard, has a lot of HP & Defense, and it can naturally learn Earthquake (one of the best Ground type moves in the game). Tentacruel is better as something you add to your team to shore up a weakness or gap in your team rather than something you build your team around. For Jaiden, Mankey was literally her only option, as it's fast & hits hard. Ariados is trash even though it's already evolved as it's move-pool is very bad, and Wynaut is literally unusable as a starter since it has no attacking moves at all. Also, if Jaiden had chosen Ariados, then her rival would have eventually had a Wobuffet, and *THAT* could very easily have been a run-killer just by itself, as Wobuffet is a nightmare in a Nuzlocke even when encountered in the wild, since if it correctly predicts your move with Counter or Mirror Coat, then you are practically guaranteed to lose a Pokemon, and since Wobuffet has Shadow Tag as an ability, you also can't switch out or run from it. So Mankey was not only Jaiden's best choice of starter, it was really her only choice for a starter. Beedrill isn't bad early on, but it gets outclassed fairly quickly by other Pokemon, and it tends to be rather fragile as well. Plus it's weak to the very common Flying type due to it's Bug typing. And while Totodile is decent, the fact that it remains a pure Water type throughout all of it's evolutions really hurts it in the long run. so the totodile/Beedrill pair isn't "bad" early on, but it will get out-shined by other pairs later on. The "Salamence type" goof isn't the only such goof Google made, as they also used to call the Rock type the "Onix type". Sad thing is, Regigigas also happens to be one of the absolute worst legendaries due solely to it's ability, "Slow Start" which requires it to last 5 full turns before it can actually fight at full strength (though at that point it turns into a total monster), but the problem is that it's very unlikely that Regigigas would even last that long without having to be switched out or ending up dead. The Piplup & Flaafy pair was all-around better than the Totodile/Beedrill pair, as Empoleon is currently the only Water/Steel type Pokemon around, while Ampharos is, indeed, a very powerful Electric type. Cradily is deceptively good, yeah. It's typing is rather unique, being Grass/Rock, and it can be quite bulky. It's even better if it happens to have it's Hidden Ability of Storm Drain, which forces water type moves to target Cradily with 100% accuracy, the move will then deal no damage (effectively making Cradily immune to Water types) and it will raise Cradily's Special Attack stat by one stage. They actually couldn't have Mewtwo on the team due to Torterra. It's primary typing is Grass, not Ground, so it would conflict with Weepinbell. And Alpharad would have understandably been unwilling to not use his Torterra just so that Jaiden could use Mewtwo. Though the two of them actually made a faux pas here as they technically shouldn't have been able to use Abomasnow/Pupitar either, as Abomasnow's primary typing is Grass rather than Ice, so it should have conflicted with Torterra as well. The way they're playing with the type restriction is that it's the Pokemon's primary (first) typing that counts, not their secondary typing. For instance, Gallade's typing is Psychic/Fighting, so his primary typing is Psychic, so using a Gallade here would have blocked other Psychic types, but not Fighting types. Secondary types don't matter with the rules that Jaiden & Alpharad are using, only the Primary type does. That's why so many people hate Clair. She's a sore loser, just like Whitney. She's mad that she lost, so she's throwing a fit and refusing to give you the badge that you had earned. Zangoose is "meh" as far as I'm aware. Loudred's evolution, Exploud can be good, but it takes a bit of work for Exploud to get to that point and it's usually not worth the effort. But since they are both pure Normal types, it's Porygon2 & Regigigas all over again, they can't be used since they have the same primary typing, and they're the same typing as Porygon2 & Regigigas to boot. Doduo/Dodrio is the definition of a glass cannon. It can hit hard, yes. But it can get taken out *very* easily. That makes the Dodei pairing a very volatile and risky one. Levels don't really matter when it comes to moves like Counter & Mirror Coat. Those two moves deal double the damage that the attacking Pokemon caused (in this case, twice the damage that Charizard had dealt to Hitmontop). That's why Wobuffet is so scary in Nuzlockes, it it's Wobuffet's stats that matter, it's the attacking Pokemon's. Bibarel is actually deceptively good. Especially if it has the Simple ability. And that Cross Chop is why Dodrio is a risky Pokemon to use. Cross Chop has a high chance to crit, and with Dodrio already being fragile, that's a death sentence, especially from something with the raw power of Machamp. Metal Burst is like counter except that it doesn't have negative priority (so it doesn't force the user to go last), it doesn't care if the incoming move is Physical or Special, and it deals 1.5x the damage dealt rather than 2x like with Counter & Mirror Coat. But since Bastiodon is so slow and can potentially have the Sturdy ability (survives a potential one-hit KO with 1 HP), that makes Bastiodon pretty much tailor-made for Metal Burst. Azumarill with Huge Power can be terrifying. It may not *look* that dangerous, but it can very easily prove you wrong pretty quickly.
Given your stated fondness for situations involving insane luck, may I humbly recommend taking a look at SmallAnt's "Pokemon, but I can only use shinies" Video?
Rock and Ground surprisingly very different. Ground is the only thing 2x effective against electric as well as immune to it. Rock has no immunities. Quite literally think dirt vs rocks
Wynaut would have been the WORST choice for a starter b/c it literally cannot fight. Less than usual. At this stage it would only have Splash, Encore and Charm. Alas, Zangoose and Loudred are both Normal types so they wouldn't be able to use them. Loudred is probably better simply on account of the fact it can evolve. AND they actually DID do the post game! Alpharad actually uploaded a video covering that recently.
I always figured ground types dig and rock types are made of rock somehow but then again I only notice pokemon for design not type (never played any of the games, they didn't sell in my country)
Why are you so happy in your thumbnails
