Went from a Mini-X to a Med-X and now temp added a Baby-X !!! love it!!!
I've got that same shirt. It's very fitting for your new excavator
You had a diesel creek shirt on. I really like Matt’s channel as well.
Hey guys funny here in Australia if you live of grid rain water storage is life or death for consumption and fire fighting I've been watching you for some time now and always wondered why you had no rain water tanks to catch roof run off but I guess it would freeze in winter your weather is certainly one extreme to the other but as always really enjoyed this video at 66yrs old now I can watch you guys living my off grid dream from the comfort of my lounge Thanks
Cheers Kym

I Love the Manouche-Swing (French-Gypsy) Guitar music (at about 16:30 min,) .
I believe that, in 'murika, Chester Burton (Chet) Atkins & collegues reproduced this style somewhat.
Here's an observation, which hopefully you've already considered - in your area, Sandpoint ID, there is an average of about 23" of rain (not including snowfall) per year, the footprint of your shop/home (30x40) is 1200sqft. that means that for every square foot of footprint, 23" of rain falls on it which totals 27,600 cubic feet of water per year, which is 206,462 gallons of water per year...
So as an alternative to your future system, all you'd have to do is buy and bury a tank (like you've just done) and get an advanced rainwater filtration system such as reverse osmosis, activated charcoal system, etc.
Can you tell us why you didn't go the water harvesting route?
Congrats on the Diesel Creek t-shirt😀
Yeah, I'm wondering the same.
Even an above ground tank for summer and drain it for winter.
Great Job Guy's on digging the bigga hole for ur water tank. lv the views. lv from sunny florida..
I loved "Boone is on baby duty." 😂 This atmospheric water generator fascinates me. It will be great to see your analytics. Running water. What a blessing that is. 😊
I'll be watching this atmospheric water project with a lot of interest as it seems to be pushing the limits of the technology especially for your high dry western climate and your solar power production limits. I hope you'll share all the numbers and figures on how you made the decision but forgive me if I'm skeptical of the enthusiasm of "unlimited water" from this source alone. I hope however that you hit a home run with this technology and prove it as a practical and usable solution which would be a big win for all of us. I look forward to regular updates.
Aww the baby🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Riley sporting the Diesel Creek shirt - excellent!
Here in Canada, we call that fine stuff from the screeners, overcrush.
In Scouting, we call being volunteered by others as being "voluntold." 🤣
Aw man, a cliffhanger. I'm pretty interested to see how the system works. I've heard of the technology before and it sounds amazing.
I rented that exact excavator and it was a riot. I didn’t get to drive it much because my neighbour is a heavy equipment operator and he was standing in my driveway hopping from foot to foot begging to use it. He did the hole job for me (see what I did there?) in 2 hours and saved me a ton of money. Fun machine though.
Hi guys also you should extend the excavation on the back and make a barrier because that mount can slide
Love the Diesel Creek shirt!
So fun to see you with a diesel creek T-shirt! You guys and him are my favorites!
Please be sure and post links to buy for all hardware that you have on these videos with model and cost preferably. Love your videos and attitude! Congrats on the new baby - - they are such a blessing. Especially this new "atmospheric water generator" you talk of.
You did a good job with the concrete I work for already mixed company.
Great Job, All of it ...
WRECKLESS RILEY ! We love the way you protect the tank from sharp rock damage so you can bounce a somewhat sharp steel tool off the bottom to get another chance at creating some wreckage... BTW the pipes look deep enough for freeze depth CA but not ID... a couple inches of XPS over the top would be prudent IMO.
I wonder if in the summer you could rig something up to collect the cool and dry exhaust air from your watermaker to cool your shop space??
Perhaps the hole in the wall will be usefull for an air duct from the air-output of your watermaker??
Just some food for thought. Lightening rods on the top of your home might be a good idea. It's insurance for safety and electrical perils from a lightening strike.
Cool video, I like the idea of the water generator and am curious to see how it does. The excavators in fast motion cracked me up, that was hilarious. Oh Snap!!! Did you guys call 811 before you dug that hole 🤣🤣
I really want an update, this sounds AWESOME!
Ah, another video 😁👍
It would be a good idea to follow best practices with regards to burying any lines. installing the ID tape and using dissimilar fill (specifically sand and clean gravel layers) will be a boon to you in the future if you ever have to dig, and not be guessing where the lines are.
I see you one of Matt's "T" shirts- my other favorite channel.
Nice job, can't wait till part #2
This is amazing 🇨🇦
Great video! Love you both! … and Oliver. 😊
Love the Diesel Creek shirt! Got the same one
Ya, u should install a great cement RV pad for company to bring up their own RV !
Fix your water problem by getting a bigger tank and catching the rainwater from the house from the storm. Plus you'll need the water when you get a bush fire to save your property.
The D8 could really be useful if fire heads your way from lightning. Put up multiple lightning rods as your building is metal. A second tank would make a greenhouse and raised beds for food possible. Known from personal experience; Black Poly will die in about 10 years; Use Sch 40 pvc instead as soil acids will not destroy it. Our old trailer park had NO water for 3 yrs from the many breaks in the black poly pipe as original water lines.
The excavator hydraulic system probably needs a service. I mean, oil change, flush the system and clean all the selector valves (at the control too). Use a chemical on the valves like "Injector Clean" or "Carburetor Clean", use an Ultrasonic cleaner too, replace all the O-Rings (of course).
The purpose is to remove carbon or residue build-up, and inspect for corrosion or pitting at the valve seat. I expect just a sticky valve for build-up. Love the videos.
Hi you two (3) , when you get a chance and the $ , you can get a slimmer bucket . Cheers👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤ 13:07
You guys got a whole other YT short channel.
Riley as he wrecks it.
Lots of shorts of those moments that just happen when trying hard.
Maybe.
Wrecking it wit Riley and toys.
Dibs on all the running gear! Engine etc... From the previous video on the ARGO.
great lightning Video awesome !!!
On operating equipment
Try fingertips on the controls.
That new ex is way too big for your operation. Go back to a mini as soon as you see what I mean. Better to rent for big jobs.
On the water tank. In ground like that. We install cables and pour concrete at the base before burying so the tank won’t float in big winters. (!)
And next time you pour a pad. Try some #3 rebar
Thx for the show. Hope that helps.
The only problem i have with the adventures of courageous Courtney and Reckless Riley iz thy are too short
i am from another country and we use black containers because they don't let light through and as you know light in water causes diseases
but you could also put blocks of cement around the container so you can check every moment if a hose or a rakor loses water, now a stone can injure the container at any moment, I wish you all the best
Aww the Drummond pump I know it well
You guys should check into a mini rock crusher with all the rock you have on the property. You could always use gravel??
Hiya Guys. Another big achievement on its way, congratulations. As you live surrounded by trees, aren't you scared about fires ?
The nice thing about lightning is it cleans the air.
I don't know if someone else mentioned it but you ought to be running wire next to your buried pipes. Then a metal detector can help keep you out of trouble. Do this under ground drainage like septic fields and downspout drains. With that much lightning you should put up lightning rods and ground the house like they do for Telecom buildings.
WoW and I wanted to move up there until I saw that crazy lightning and that changed my mind quick. I'll just stay here in Phoenix Arizona. LoL!
Livin the life!
Awesome!
Better look into lightning rods you put on the roof of your house! Great filming of the lightning as well as all else you 2 have been doing. Thnx
Lighting storm while living in a Metal building. Hmmmmmmmm Stay safe the 3 of you!
Congratulations on Oliver!!!
Gwan mi gen, mi is excited for di 2 a unuh, big up mi don, translate: (go on my general, I'm excited for both of you, respect to you both. ❤❤🇯🇲🇯🇲💯👋
This place has the oddest combination of HVAC and heat pumps anywhere. There is the waste oil heater, which makes sense, then the diesel heater as a backup, which also makes sense. Then there is the heat pump water heater which, during winter, cools the garage so the heaters need to run more. Then there is the MrCool AC, which I love and looked at installing myself, but you installed the AC only model when this is the perfect application of the AC/heat pump version so you could heat and cool the shop with solar. Now the water generator is, you guessed it, another heat pump, but this one will run off solar and just dump the heat generated outside. If there was a way to capture the heat generated by the Tsunami so that it could be used to heat the shop/apartment that would be a much more efficient use of limited solar power.
Hi Eric! Both of our mini splits (apartment and shop) are heat pump versions and we used them almost exclusively in late February/March to heat our space. I agree that there are more efficient ways to use heat pumps (for example the hot side of the Tsunami could be heating our water). But, that isn't how the products are manufactured and building custom mechanical systems like that would get incredibly complicated. Thanks for watching!
Sick shirt Riley! Hope Matt sees this!
Very cool!!!
After that lightning ya get and how its only gettin worse ya might want to add some lightning forks on ya house to bleed off the static electricity cause thats how it attracts lightning but its also why broadcast towers have them ;)
Riley needs to put in some TVS diodes and some GMOV's to help protect the electrical aswell
I enjoy watching this great couple 👏
Loved seeing the Diesel Creek shirt!! Very cool project, Courtney could give Let's Dig 18 a run for his money on that excavator!!
You guys are so awesome AWESOME 👏
I bet that if you had the money and people you could build a wonderful City.
Thank you for showing Oliver. He’s a cutie ☺️.
Congratulations on all your accomplishments.
Blessing’s from Paso Robles, California
, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊❗️
You guys are amazing, and i think the perfect couple!!!!!
been waiting for the part 2 and further update on the water generator. one episode was uploaded but I can not find it anymore.
Good idea...
Welcome Back, so good to see the 3 of you. just one thing I do not understand, if Oliver is the Baby how come Riley is the one that keeps getting new toys ? 😛 see you next week, best regards from Argentina.
Man so much done in 23 minutes and 58 seconds!! That sucks about about the building. I hate fixing mistakes like that. Things are shaping up and can’t wait to see your Atmospheric Generator working. Let’s Go!
What? It's supposed to look like gem forever? Those dings tell a story.
@@Jeff-jg7jh that's so true....good point
With all the earth moving equipment, are you going sub-contracting?
You also have amazing sub base material, with the stone and soil.
With any concrete slab always bull nose the edge. There is a special, 90 degree trowel for this. It helps prevent edge cracking and spalling.
Reckless Riley strikes again!!!😁 Looks like you both have soo many vehicles,!! maybe, Above the Solar Array, use the bulldozer to clear a space to park them all. Have you got Prettier Courtney since having baby??🤩😇 Love to hear that there are major projects coming soon, I know 1 is carrying on widening the road, like the red Reckless Riley T shirt might go buy 1. Thanks for the videos, stay well x x
I thought you were going to put your tank up on the hill to have natural pressure for your water distribution, but with your winters I can see burying it to not freeze
Can't wait until the next video, an AWG is definitely on my list
Hey I like that you were wearing a Diesel Creek shirt, I watch him also.
Im slow! I was wondering how you was gonna fill that giant tote with what I thought was some kind of fancy water filter or pump. This is gonna be good when complete. You need to get California setup with something like this to make a lot of water on a massive scale. lol
You need a rubber bucket on that thing😊 tough luck though although lucky on the electrical
it was cool to see you in a diesel creek T.
Courtney you and Oliver look gorgeous together congratulations man from Missouri
you two arean exception to the norm of gridders and all you information is good you dont talk down to your viewers thank you
@12:39 around here, we call that "voluntold" 😁
We put surveyors tape an inch or so above any pipe, water line, electric wire that we put in the ground.
That way, when we dig down and start picking up surveyors tape, we know it's time to dig carefully.
Water is the MOST important NEED for off grid living, power 2nd and waste, that would be my order of priorities
Wow your wearing a Diesel Creek shirt, thats great, I love that channel too.
Pretty neat. Looking forward to the next part.
Looks awesome. Just rebar caps next time, please. Nothijg kicks off my safety third radar like the great steel punji stakes.
Big hot tub oils candles and some Joni Mitchell and a bottle of chilled white wine ,and two glasses ....
Matt's shirt is kinda fitting for the job your doing lol love diesel creek
I came up with a really neat little trick when my kids were little and I needed to work outside. I got a set of walkie talkies and set them to voice activated and would keep one next to the baby monitor inside and I wore the other one with an earpiece. I was able to hear whenever they would wake up even if I was running a chainsaw outside
Good to see you supporting Diesel Creek
So envious. Look forward to next week's video. Stay safe.
Y’all need to build a road grader attachment for the skid steer to blade your driveway..
glad to hear some of your old music.please work in some more.
Love the @DieselCreek t-shirt. Matt has an awesome channel, great to see you guys supporting it.
Question…why not invest in a rain water collection tank that has an element to heat up water in the snowy season and an insulation blanket in. It could be placed in the back, out of sight. That water can be used to flush toilets, mix concrete, clean equipment and any other non potable uses. Then the AWG can be used for drinking water, laundry and dishwashing. Love the series and the journey ✌🏾
Good luck with your new water system. :-) Jim Bell (Australia)
The whole smash the building moved the whole wall 😮
Oh my! What a storm, just when u dug a huge hole ! Now u have a pool!
My 1st time watching and I love your x\channel. Great enthusiasm a d so positive. I look forward to many more. Crazy John in Katy, Tx...
Good to see you guys back!
Oh, nice Diesel Creek t-shirt 😁
binge watching this channel one of the coolest off grid setups!
Talache here. You two are an example of what off-gridding can be with the right attitude, and funding. Nice work.
Well Riley at least Courtney put a small hole in the house. Lol It was nice to see baby Oliver was so darn cute. You know you have to keep that small excavator, because Oliver will need that to play in the sand .
I think I saw a People puppy??? Something to do this winter?? Gob bless,
Gramps
With Idaho having a bit arid climate, I hope yuor dreams don't get shattered about how much water you will make. It has to be in the atmosphere before it can be condensed and then tanked. Best of luck
