Your HISEA product tester link doesn't work. I had to go to their website to register and hopefully it took as it doesn't say if your signup is completed or not.
Two suggestions: 1. Install a sediment filter before the tank to avoid sediment build up in the tank. Having two sediment filters (one before & one after the tank.) 2. Glue a bushing with female threads into the LB box so you can install a romax connector for the #12 gauge romax wire going into the LB.
I was just about to suggest something similar. On one hand, if you can clean out the tank, letting the sediment settle out means less usage on the sediment filter. But on the other hand, it just makes more sense to me to run all the filters BEFORE the tank. Run less chance of damaging anything after that. But I guess it might also depend on how things work, like the filters might not be able to handle the higher pressures on the line between the well and the tank.
Should never put a sediment filter before the pressure tank, will effect how the pressure switch acts. Sediment on the bottom of the tank isn't an issue. Only time I will come out is if you drain the tank down or run out of water.
Nope. issue is that some time filter get clogged, and it can burn up the pump motor. One option is to install two tanks: a small one with the pressure switch on it, and a second tank on the other side of the filter(s). The LB isn't the right electical box. It should be a box which you can install romex connector clamps (usually with threaded holes). You cab by cast alum or plastic rectangular electrical boxes that will except threaded flex conduit connections & romex wire connector clamps.
It is called an LB because the opening is opposite the cover, coming out the back. There are also LRs and LLs for going right and left. Hold the fitting like a pistol and the cover to the right is an LR and to the left an LL. I agree about putting a romex connector going into the LB. You wouldn't pass an inspection since the opening is not closed.
Great video! I would suggest you put the carbon filter at the end to extend the life span! When I built our filter system, we were instructed to always put the carbon last in the chain!
Ten years in the water conditioning industry taught me to filter the worst elements first and then the taste (carbon filter) last. Sentiment, minerals, chemicals. Great video. Dan.
You can use large to small micron filters the same way. The problem with the carbon filter is they lose carbon in the water so it will clog your other filters also. However if you don't want random black particles in your water you can do the carbon before another 20 micron filter to stop the carbon. If you buy a white filter you will see the black carbon on it. I had to do a lot of filtration for high pressure aeroponics It's good to think of the carbon as a sponge. Over time it will take the same oh and chemicals as whatever it filters. The carbon becomes very concentrated with these elements
having put in hundreds of wells in the past as well as servicing hundreds more add something like a iSpring WSP100ARB Spin Down Sediment Water Filter before the pressure tank! you can see the sediment so you know when to open the trap to empty heavy particulates as well as when to remove the filter to clean it.
After a couple of years building RO systems in arctic communities I would suggest an RO membrane . You should also look at a UV light phase on the post filtration side , you might also want to consider a 300-500 gallon tank in the basement post filtration to store clean water an ozone aeration unit will help keep it fresh and having a stock of clean water in a heatable space may save you in an extreme winter season . It also seems better for pump longevity to pressurize your inlet water with one pump and distribute it with another located after the filtration and before the P Tank . This splits the draw load and the distribution pressurization load . We were building fill your own jug systems for the town stores in these tiny villages and when you are 2 or 3 airplane flights and at least as many days from any replacement parts or a service tech you learn pretty quick how to adapt these systems for absolute minimum hands on maintenance , after all who wants to pay 10-12 thousand dollars for someone to fly in and replace a 100 dollar pump ?
You really need a silt filter before the pressure tank. Also you don't need a bypass on the filters. With that you are just allowing contaminated water into your system. What you really need is a service flush valve when you change the filters. When you put a new carbon filter you will have carbon dust in the water big time.
Great video, as usual. “LB” = opening on the “Back”. LR and LL, opening on the left or right holding the short end in your hand and long end pointing away from you.
New drinking game : take a shot every time Martin says Pipe dope 😆😆 id be 10 sheets to the wind now. Lol great video guys 💕 its great how you do step by steps and explainations. Helps us DIY novices for sure to understand it all x
Hey you guys know what this evening just checking up on you guys I just got a new tablet today so this tablet's working I still learning how to use it all right have a great day guys need a good evening to me
I hope you write on each pipe where it's going to??? Will you need to wrap all of your new piping in the crawl space to stop freezing pipes? So proud of you both for installing a water filter system WOW fantastic job for sure!!! God's blessings to you ALL!!!
I live in a small town we have the worst hard water and what it does to water heaters and pipes is horrible. I don't drink it, I drink bottled water I know wrong on every level but I am looking at other ways like having water delivered. Good job as always guys.
those filters are huge. my RO system was similar but a 1/10 of the size. during my installation, I was instructed to not drink the initial water passing through the filters but instead after 6-12 hours of the system and filters in use
When I lived in Hawaii I had a similar system but suggest a couple changes for yours. My system had a sediment filter before the pressure tank and that helps keep the inside of that tank clean and the rubber bladder inside it will last longer. Also, I had 3 filters mounted in this order : first was sediment, second was charcoal/carbon, last was a UV filter which contained a UV light that kills 99.9% of bacteria. We didn't really need an iron filter but since you have a deep well I can understand the need for one in your situation. I had my water tested for bacteria to be sure it was a safe source of drinking water. It's a learning experience that is so important! God bless you all! I love watching your progress!
The sediment will have no effect on the life of the tank, nor will dirty water. It more comes down to how often and how much water you use. The more the bladder expands and contracts, it gets pinched where a metal ring is crimped into the tank to hold it into place. I have never seen a filter before a tank besides and automatic sand separator. Putting filters before a tank can cause a pump to short cycle from the pressure switch not properly sensing tank pressure. Minerals in the water all come down to where the well is drilled not how deep. I have replaced pumps in 100 ft wells there are iron mines and I have also replaced pumps in 1300 ft well that are spotless. Just luck of the draw and local terrain really. Hopefully that helps some :)
If you open the center of a roll of romex and pull the wire from the center of the roll it won't make a mess like that. Don't take it out of the wrapper.
you're outside hydrant next to the well isn't going to work with the check valve in the basement only if the pump is running at the time you turned it on👍
My grandparents had a well on a 100+ year old farm. The water would come out of their well fizzing and white like that. It would eat a bar of soap in about 2 days. But it was oh so soft.
I’m working on watching all your old videos. I’m a year behind but I’ll catch up! Lol Y’all are wonderful and a blessing to many people! I’m grateful for Dutch sending me over! 💜✝️💜
if you notice lower water pressure in the faucets, remove the aerator and clean the screen. some debris can come from the new plumbing and will clog the screen in time. Good job on the pressure tank and plumbing, I used to install wells and pressure tanks, in a past life, hi hi
I love you guys. You are the best. I always look forward to your next video. Let me tell you I am a city boy and know nothing of homesteading or anything you do. I just love watching you. Keep up the good work! Love from South Africa!!
Would recommend adding a water softener before the filter, (I have a kinetico) I did what you did prior and spent two years of spending a ton on filters, the up front of a water softener is more but if you plan on the long haul it’s a saver and plus you can actually get 8 months on the filters. Side note, would add a uv filter system too, bulb change yearly and it’s cheap. Love the videos and good luck with off grip living
You guys are awesome, I had been racking my brain in my water adventures on my property. I have been following your videos from the beginning, I also have the battle born batteries, and the victron inverters, thanks to your videos. After seeing this, I ripped everything out and installed the 86 gallons tank from home depot. Best purchase ever!!! Also, I installed a Girard tankless rv water heater in our trailer, so we can take endless showers. I need to upgrade my filtration, as our water tastes metallic and is yellowish. Is there a part number or website where you got your filter unit? Thank you!!!
Great work. I really do suggest that you use the special silicone grease on the filter O rings. When you go to change the filters, you have a great chance of being real glad you did.
Nylon Taping Tip Hold the fitting in your left hand Roll of tape in the right Tape goes over the top of the fitting & go under & around several times Tape - Smaller at the front tapered to back of the fitting. Works everything.
A suggestion, I wouldn’t put the filters and pressure tank in the crawl space, not for any other reason than it’s a pain to change and if the tank ever fails, it’s a huge pain to get it out of there. Usually you would want all of that stuff at ground level or at least where you can get it out of there on a flight of stairs instead of a step ladder. In the case of a catastrophic failure, it’s nice when these systems are located in the garage, in those cases they typically drain out of the garage bay.
Hi Great video thank you very much. We myself and my wife just bought the plot of land. We've built a small temporary home. We built it out of timber. So that we can stay on site while we build the actual property. It was good watching your video because. Where you've built a basement. Is exactly what I want to do. We have yet to drill for the water. They say that in the area that we are it might be up to 100 m. When we build the actual property that we are going to live in permanently. I'm going to try and do the same that you have done. So again thank you very much All the best Russell
It's an LB because it makes an "L" shape and the opening comes out the back. An LR comes out the right and an LL comes out the left. A "T" or Tee condolette makes a T shape and a C condolette only goes straight but is used for accessing wires on long pulls etc.
OOPS never use Rector Seal on any plastic. If you do not like teflon tape, use a Teflon based paste. just an fyi. also put a check valve between the tank tee and the filter, so you do not draw water back from the house. filter placement. sediment, iron manganese then carbon. never use the wrench to tighten the can, it is an o'ring seal. the wrench is to remove them
Praise be to our Abba Marty and Jewels... Emmanuel has truly blessed you both to come so far... Have you ever thought of using a used oil heater. They can be used in non living areas, it can help keep your home's crawl spaces, and the garage warm. This could potentially help you retain heat in your living areas by heating the floors in the house and the living space of the apartment from the garage reducing your demands on your off-grid power systems in the winter and lower your propane needs since the lower temps may use more fuel to keep the areas cozy. You can get spent oil from auto parts stores and oil changers. They would probably give you the used motor oil... A 55 gallon used Polly drum could be ideal to store the oil. I would also consider putting a small power station in the basement area with its own micro charging station all-in-one with a 400watt Bifacial panel should keep that charged especially in the winter to reduce the demand. This could allow you to shut of the circuit from your Off-grid power electrical panel. Less flow of current in wires of unused circuits means less wasted energy. Just some ideas to help stay efficient and cozy... I bid Bonds of Abundance, Bonds of Unity Bringing Harmony, Bonds of Opportunity, Bonds of Progress, Bonds of Supernatural Provisions, Bonds of Health and Bonds of Miracles and each of the entities to be released to impart these righteous bonds into and upon your family and your pets, your parents, your ministry, and your busineses and all that Abba has allowed to manifest in your favor and the things to come, planned and unexpected in the name of our King Emmanuel! So that you too can keep smiling. Love you and your family... Give Jewels Dad and Seth, a big hug for me... The Holy Spirit says her Dad He needs encouragement! I love you with the Agape Love of Emmanuel!
I think it would have been better to put the 3 filters before the tank. I found that the carbon filter kills the flow to the point where you cant shower properly. If you put the filter first, the tank wont rust from the iron coming in and the tank will keep the pressure up.
@@guytech7310 the pump should have a pressure switch, if the filter gets clogged, the switch turns off the pump. The filters can still get clogged where they are...
@@andrewtheologo1268 Pumps do not have built in pressure switches. issue is that the pump does not know the depth of the well. The deeper the well the more pressure is required to pump the water out of the well. The pressure which needs to be install at least at the top of the well.
The recommendation of using a sediment filter before the tank is a good one. It looks like you went with 4.5-inch diameter filters also called big blue filters by 20 inches long. This is a good choice. I have had an excellent experience with these sediment filters in a 50--5--1 micron bank. But I have really rusty water with chunks. I did not see the designated sediment filter that was used. If you use pleated filters you will get massively more use as compared to smooth surface filters. A pressure gauge after the sediment filter will tell you when to change the filter.
27:05 I have a fairly similar arrangement with the hydrant and hand pump, and it's REALLY hard to pressurize the tank to 60PSI by hand. Plus, you can't see the pressure, so the only way to know when to stop it is to keep pumping until your arm falls off! 😁 Still, it's much better than having no water. This arrangement saved me lots of times when I was having problems with my well pump.
Do you have any way to bleed the pressure off of the filters after closing the valve? I suggest adding a bleeder. If not, it'll be difficult to unscrew the filters. Pressure guage on each side will show you your differential pressure also.
You had it right as far as you went. LB stands for "Elbow Back" because the direction change is on the "back". There are also LL and LR and an almost never used LF. You guessed it, Elbow Left, Elbow Right and the unicorn Elbow Front. I've only seen the LF once in 37 years as a general contractor.
Hey never seen your channel before, but I am a well technician hopefully I can give some tips or advice. 1:20 I use teflon tape and pipe dope when I do anything. It cheaper to buy teflon than to have a call back for a leak. 3:20 you don't need to open the bypass to change the filters unless you have something very important using water. I also didn't notice any pressure release buttons on the filters they may be black and just hard to see. But if you don't have any way of releasing the pressure out of the filter you will never get it lose. 8:45 tanks are sized based on your pump size. I am sure this one is sufficient but the reasoning is for proper run time of the pump, you don't want it run for short periods of time bad for long term health of the motor. 9:50 if you can run a ground to the tank. The brass to stainless connection will cause electrolysis but can be lessened with grounding. 22:35 Carbon should be last in line as the iron will foul it out and clog the filter. hope it helps
Great video, I love working with PEX, fewer if any freeze problems, and every leak we have had in our 40 years in our house has been in a brass elbow. I believe it stops water hammer also.
I have been watching your build for a couple of years and enjoy what your doing and your family. As you were installing the new water system tank and filters, I saw what may be a code error in your wiring. In our area south of Portland, you cannot wiretie Romex to a pipe as in your pex to the pressure tank pressure switch. I would suggest you bring the Romex to a box on the wall then conduit from the box to the pressure switch. You may also want to put a switch in that box to disable the pressure switch right there if needed. Hope this helps.
Really enjoyed watching...a little concerned watching the ladder work, safety first...please. Good job well done. Thank you for sharing your labors!!! Currently recovering in a full back brace from a broken back. Doc won't let me do much. Living vicariously with the help of your video's Helps me set still as the Doc wishes for a speedy recovery.
Nice job, bet your are glad to have fully plumbed water now. One suggestion move the iron filter before the tank and a second sediment filter between the iron filter and the well. This will keep the sediment and iron out of the tank. You are likely going to need a larger iron filter. They are available in a larger tank like a water softener, with these there, is no filter to purchase and replace they do need to be back flushed and recharged every so often, good ones have fully automatic back flush and salt brine regeneration. The activated carbon filters are usually coconut charcoal in a block or granular (GAC) form. When replacing these filters you need to flush them to the drain for a couple minutes to wash out all the charcoal dust. Just run the water until it runs clear. Factoid: 1 gram of activated carbon has the surface area of an acre of land.
I went back and watch the video the Hydrant is teed in by the well on the same line that goes to the house the check valve in the house is not going to let the water go back to the Hydrant so you only have water at the hydrant when the pump is running .
Your filter system is very much the same as ours, just a different manufacturer. We have had it for over 4 years and recently changed to a block carbon filter from a granulated one and it made huge difference. We also use a 25 10 5 1 micron filter first then the iron manganese and carbon last. Your water might have a little more sediment so you may need to pre-filter before the pressure tank. Great job and very well explained.
Yes, gauges on the top to monitor filter restriction. My water is that cloudy and it’s crazy to see how fast that sediment filter changes color. I have a case of sediment filters for 30-45 day changes. I also put a 50 micron metal reusable filter in front of the media filters. Now I just need a nice big pressure tank like that one! Current one is too small. Nice project!
I get water filter from monolithic domes, Italy Texas. church down street sending missionaries too Africa, asked this company to make small reusable filter turn ditch water into drinking water.
If you install another set of filters in parallel with the others filters you will get much longer life out of the filters because as they plug up they only need to supply half the flow. I’ve seen others with particularly dirty water run quad lines of filters. Set and forget type of system and when they do actually plug up in an emergency you can still just replace one set of filters till you can replace all of them.
Awesome as always guys! Cheers to the hardest working family I've seen 🙂. I look forward to your video's. You guys are such an asset to humanity! Thank you!!
you might wish to add a couple of rusco spin down filters and drain valves they will save you a small fortune on filters in the big blue filter rack they will go inline before your water filters that you installed. They are available all the way up to 1000 mesh filter elements
This system is probably installed on a lot of homes that have a well. I never had one before and wasnt aware that a bad pressure tank causes that pressure to constantly fluctuate, the needle drops and builds up often instead of a working tank which keeps the needle steady. This also causes the pump to work too much, probably wearing it out.
Well may I sugest you use 2 UV lights, and not the small ones, the long ones. Your filtration seems adequate though you may want to add a further fine between the 2 UV's.
There’s a new water system coming out that uses air taking water out water gen, for home use. I got my system filters from the same company. I took the label off the plastic bag and put them on the filter for each of the three
💦 If you missed it, here is our well-drilling video th-cam.com/video/EVlSBgdA7Dc/w-d-xo.html
Martin, you need to install insulation underneath the floor to keep the house warm and prevent pipes from freezing during winter time.
Love the new film quality! New phones? New equipment too?
Just FYI spammer trying to contact me on the comment I left earlier.
I think a spammer wanted me to do what's ap. I just wanted more info on hand pump, wasn't in well drilling video

2. Glue a bushing with female threads into the LB box so you can install a romax connector for the #12 gauge romax wire going into the LB.
I got all of my filtrations done before the tank, and in the tank i have a UV lamp ,but yes the sediment filter is the minimum

Yes I agree, same as we did

Pressure gauges on filter assembly are a good way to keep track of filters. If pressure across filter is different by much time to change them.

personally, I'd put the carbon filter last.
Tux and Watts...all the supervision you need!
Martin, went to your website. Found Simple Pump in water section. Their site says static depth 325 but you are much deeper How you do dat?
As another filter maybe one right at the faucet from under the sink? Just a thought.
OMGosh…. I remember the previous disappointment! I’m so so happy for you guys!!! May God continue to bless all of you!!!
Great job Johnson Family so happy for you as our water is most important and now you can drink it. Yeah.
you're outside hydrant next to the well isn't going to work with the check valve in the basement only if the pump is running at the time you turned it on👍

for iron, you need aeration and settling tank before sent the water into a holding tank.
after that you can use iron filter.

Also, I installed a Girard tankless rv water heater in our trailer, so we can take endless showers. I need to upgrade my filtration, as our water tastes metallic and is yellowish. Is there a part number or website where you got your filter unit? Thank you!!!
"Tell me if you see anything gross" ... "not looking for gross" ... (13:35) made me chuckle 😋Good vlog ...always smiling😎
😂
Great work. I really do suggest that you use the special silicone grease on the filter O rings. When you go to change the filters, you have a great chance of being real glad you did.
I was going to suggest that as well, wait till he tries to change filters and finds them stuck.................
Omg you must have been watching me last month changing ours!
Nylon Taping
Tip
Hold the fitting in your left hand
Roll of tape in the right
Tape goes over the top of the fitting & go under & around several times
Tape - Smaller at the front tapered to back of the fitting.
Best Video Yet, really enjoyed how you showed the entire process. What’s the plan for the big black water tank? Water Catchment for the garden maybe?
I wish I knew how to do all this useful construction stuff I was just a keyboard jockey for 30 years. Glad to see videos like this.
Great job you guys. Love the kittens. My two cats are twins and 11 years old now. Martin and Julie, doing a super job. Keep up the great work.
Great water fitting hope it saves on frozen pipes.
The B in LB stands for back because the outlet comes out the back of the box there’s also LR and LL’s for right and left
Hi
Great video thank you very much.
So again thank you very much
All the best
Russell
Congrats on the new water system.
A pressure gauge, before and after the filterset will indicate, your filter polution.
Great job on getting your water from your well to the pressure tank and in to the house Martin and Julie.God bless and thanks for sharing.☺️☺️❤️❤️❤️👍👍
you have to run 5 gallons or more water through new filters to set taste .
I bid

i’m so so grateful! We’re gonna need a system
like this in the next year or so
I think it would have been better to put the 3 filters before the tank.
I found that the carbon filter kills the flow to the point where you cant shower properly.
If you put the filter first, the tank wont rust from the iron coming in and the tank will keep the pressure up.
No, because if the filter becomes clogged it can burn up the pump.
I would recommend a UV sanitizer after the filters with another bypass piping. Would we handy especially if you ever do rain water harvesting.
A pressure gauge after the sediment filter will tell you when to change the filter.
on the pvcLB the b is the cover position , LR or LL depending on which way it faces
Good video. Thanks for bringing us along.
Wow!! That filter system is Very Impressive!! I wonder how long the filters will last!! Good Job 👍 God Bless and have a Wonderful Week!! 😊⚘❤
You should add an inline UV sterilizer after filtration for even better quality water.
25:00 L is for the fact that it's a 90 degree, 'B' stands for opening at the Back.
So a long time ago I learned the electrical fitting lingo and an ELB stands for an elbow with the access cover on the back.
We had a well with a lot of iron, water from the well was red, real red. Installed a Kinetico water softener and a ozone iron filter, worked great.
No, becuase a clogged filter can burn up the pump.
Great job installing all the water lines and tank, Wonderful to have running water!
Belive from the color of thread paste it's also appoved for propane connections
That looks really nice awesome job guys
Fun video. Great editing.
God bless your family.
Great you have clean well water to the house.
We call them big blue filters in South Africa, we still have dirty water coming through the filters so we do not drink tap water
I always install a zero pressure cutoff pressure switch on my well systems. They have saved me from having the pump run dry and burn up many times.
Awesome as always guys! Cheers to the hardest working family I've seen 🙂. I look forward to your video's. You guys are such an asset to humanity! Thank you!!
Rotfl Jacobean (JACK, o be an) or (jack o BE an) refers to an early English style the stain is a rich dark brown or rich color.
you might wish to add a couple of rusco spin down filters and drain valves they will save you a small fortune on filters in the big blue filter rack they will go inline before your water filters that you installed. They are available all the way up to 1000 mesh filter elements
What brand pump and model do you have? What psi do you end up with? Do you have a pressure tank? What depth did you put the pump?
Looking great. Love how precise you are with everything in this water system. Well so much more dependable then water collection
Yea!!! Let there be water!🙃good job guy's
Have a great rest of your day 🤗❤👍
Great video good to see y'all
Have the water tested? Nice job M&J Johnson!
6 water filter and UV water filter system great idea
Just found your channel, loved the demo shirt!! Didn't have to watch anymore to subscribe!!
There’s a new water system coming out that uses air taking water out water gen, for home use. I got my system filters from the same company. I took the label off the plastic bag and put them on the filter for each of the three
