Just some small additional info as I watch through: On Pillaging: Pillaging's success rate is actually tied to your heavy attack (3) % rate. This means attacking to build that % is a good way to increase your odds! Small note on this though: In Chrono Cross, when you get hit it resets your % on the character hit. In addition to this, If you build up your %, then get hit, if you try to pillage right after without rebuilding, you will always miss. On Star levels: Everyone in the game that is obtainable by the player gets a chance at a Key (Strength, magic, etc) Stat up on every Star Battle! This means you don't need them in your party to get it at a boss. The only exception to that is with the Mini-Stars; That is only available as a chance for the party in that battle! Also, on that note, there will be a couple fights that are counted as Start Battles that aren't always bosses (but for the most case and ease-of-explanation, boss battles is a good way to know). Additonally, later on, Some optional bosses wont count as Star Battles.
You should get g as your guide because he get an item. You can use trap on boss fights and run away to gain multiple strong elements. One of the only way to gain the best gear is to use summons. You probably should have ten of each element so you can switch out party members and you probably want the different elements crew. Make sure to talk to n on the ship as l or you can’t get the black plate which is an god send in very hard boss battle. Also make sure in the Dead Sea to have Anti black charms and don’t use any black characters outside of L and bring an holy light trap. Also when deal with the six dragon bring traps. An key factor about traps is you can run away and keep the trap. Not all boss fight will let you run away from th unless you turn off battles. Keep one cheap weapon and armor so you can change gear for the players. Take Z over K to the viper for his best attack. Remember for L. Each the elements plate on the weak characters so the enemies will be in trouble move revive up an few so it heals you more
It would take TOO long to post the full spellings of the names of all 45 party members so K and Z are Karsh and Zoah respectively. N = Nikki since theirs a missable quest that if you don't to it the black dragon boss can never be killed G = Guile on this run he's the best of the 3 Viper Manor guides.
Tossing a thumbs up and comment for that wild algorithm! So pleased to see Chrono Cross back in the news again. Feels surreal. Looking forward to more videos!
Imagine you're just walking around town and you offer someone's dog a bone and then that dog joins you to go on an adventure and leave its family forever.
That's literally every jrpg ever. "I have a family and a job as a knight, but I'll join you plucky kids on your quest to stop this nebulous evil form spreading"
@@Nirwanda001 Yeah, but at least a human can explain to his friends and family where he's going and when he'll be back. With a dog, it's just like one day your dog is gone, no explanation. Stolen? Kidnapped? Ran away? Quest? Who knows?
I listen to video game music a ton. I actually get a lot of comments throughout my videos because of the music I put! From Ridge Racer, to Power Dolls, Streets of Rage, Symphony of the Night, to Chrono Cross! Chrono Cross is still my #2 all time favorite.
Another tip for when you are crafting weapons, in case you are missing a material (that is not the base material, like bone, copper, iron, etc) you can trade elements for them with two npcs, one in guldove and another in termina. The trading works according to what level is the element you are trading, so a element level 3 will count 3 points, a level 1 will count for 1 point. Tablets costs only 10g, so you can get 10 points using tablets for the same price you would pay for 1 cure.
Always build up attack percentage with light hit and then hit hard at the end. Also light hits is an easy way to build levels for elements. You can capture elements from certain bosses. The dragons uses elements that can be captured. Diminish and weaken helps if you are struggling. The first paly through is usually the hardest and after game plus is pretty easy as you keep levels and elements. Don't rely on peoples videos for party members, mix and match until you find your own group that synergizes. Lots of video show funguy as a weak character yet I beat the game on my first playthrough with him and didn't struggle. If you want Glenn in your party, chose to not save kid. Many characters have dual techs so explore.
Maybe making it a multi part would be better? Beginning, Mid, and End game recruits you can get? That way people can get info faster? Not sure, let me know your thoughts!
@@JRPG-Mickey I think since you are already using chapters in your videos adding them all on the same video would be better, so if someone is looking for a specific character they can just check the chapters, instead of searching like 3 videos. This would also prevent confusion from new players who get a character like Irenes on the dream sequence and think they can recruit her early on.
I’ve played it through probably 50 times so mostly just love seeing another persons joy of the game! But maybe a guide for finding and how to use the summoning elements! Most people I’ve talked to about the game struggled with them for sure!
I always loved using the summons but I hated that they didn’t carry over on new game plus! Never understood that! Maybe a guide on new game plus would be helpful for people too! Especially for the Sprigg lovers like myself! Always rock Serge, Glenn and Sprigg! :)
I literally beat this game a bunch of times as a teenager and never knew the Leena thing, learn something new everyday. Might have to dust off the psx and play it again
Very helpful video and well structured too man! I played the hell out of CT during early teen years, but never got the chance to play CC though. Looking forward to getting down to this soon :)
Here's a good tip, get Starky Immediately after getting the Boat in Home World Act 2. Then go to Arni Village with Starky and go near the giant fish to get Plasma Pistol. Plasma Pistol is a super-strong Gun usable by Starky and Norris. The Only gun that is stronger is the Rainbow Shell Gun.
Make sure you capture plenty of Ultra Novas when you have Starky “leaning/hurting/near death.” You can fight him over and over and, unlike stealing, you keep elements you trap when you run away.
I have some stuff to add, when you were talking about opposing elements, in the video you zoomed in when Serge was attacking the white innate enemy. I think you were going to say that when someone attacks an enemy of the same color they will deal less damage, but was forgotten when editting or narrating. There is only one profiteer purse in the game, I normally always dismantle it, but you can wear it to gain more money from battles. Money normally isn't an issue, unless you buy lots of elements and want to upgrade the equipment of all your party members, but if you want to keep it, you can upgrade your equipment to copper easily before going inside Viper Manor, for that choose Guile or Nikki as your guide, if you choose Guile, you can steal Bronze Swallows from the bat enemies in the Viper Manor Bluffs, if you choose Nikki, you can steal Brass Picks from the bulb enemies, both disassemble into one copper and other materials, both are also rare steals so around 1/10 chance to get, also on Nikki path there is a wraith inside the cave, you can steal copper from it (common), defeat him do not move the rock, leave the screen, come back and fight again. With this you can get bronze weapons for who you want to bring to the manor, plus bronze mails, don't bother with helmets, because you can steal them from the enemy "Acacia SGT", you can find them by getting caught by the light and waiting for the fight. Unfortunatelly, there is no way to farm copper with Pierre before entering the manor. About mini level ups, they are not really game breaking, a character that is behind on stats, when you start using them will catch up easily, because all characters have a maximum of a certain stats they can get. So if a character gets lots of strenght early on, they will start getting less later, the opposite is true, a character that is not getting mini level ups, will gain more stats on later levels to compensate. So even if a character is left behind, you can still get them up to date easily. Also updating your elements and equipment is more important than getting the extra points.
I was actually just trying to show how you can see the Innate element. The combat video coming out tomorrow more clearly explains things. I left this as a general beginner tips video not so much about combat. Nice tips to add though!
I was trying to steal bronze swallows from those bats and i seem to only be getting ointments, so unless its a rare steal or something then you might be mistaken here but im not gonna spend hours trying to steal them when its not even a very good weapon anyway and the copper stuff becomes obsolete pretty quickly, just gonna progress with the story lol.
@@AdrianParra Talk about something rare, i just got moonglasses as a drop from Harle for the first time lol. I went the "not save Kid" route so i couldnt steal them unfortunately but having one pair is great, gonna help very nicely on Miguel and Garai especially.
A good starting guide for new players. I would like to make an addendum about Poshul. The big, dumb, pink tub of lard you can get? You CAN wait until Lenna joins you in Another World IF you brush Kid away. It makes the first dungeon(s) a tad more dangerous and all, but I like to do this myself, since it's funny to see Poshul interact with herself in Home World. You don't get this interaction if you recruit her with the Hackran Bone, so...yea, it's not THAT big a jump in difficulty if you solo the first dungeon(s), since everything will die in a couple hits anyways and the game make sure you are plenty stocked on tablets.
You get unique interactions as well if you have Home World Poshul with you. When you get to Arni (Another), when Karsh throws her from the cliff (😂) or when explaining the Doc about both worlds. So, in any case you still miss on something, tho I think you get more unique interactions with Psohul from Home.
2 years old here but legit good tip video. especially the stealing hint/tip... which if i ever did know before i watched this video, ive long since forgotten it
This is really good stuff, Definitely keep these videos coming. This is one of my favorite games of all time and I didn’t even know that’s stealing was based off your third hit percentage.
Thank you! I played chrono trigger but never got to play chrono cross until today. This helped a lot. Now they just need to add radiant historia as well....and maybe some more star ocean...
@@JRPG-Mickey first it holds your hand for an infuriating amount of game time and then it gets weirdly difficult. I do enjoy the slightly stereotypic characters and story, it's very cleverly made and it's easy to switch between timelines and try out endings. I mean anything is easier than navigating Shadow of memories.
All people need to know is this: ABUSE THE DIMINISH SPELL. Abuse it! It’s broken as hell! Keeps you alive after it’s cast, nerfs opponent’s spell damage.
Except if you use the Evade boost you don't NEED to use Diminish use Magnify to boost your own damage and with the Evade boost the enemies STILL can't damage you while you get the 1.5 damage increase elements only.
On the PS1 version could use Diminish again Garai/Miguel and COULD still both Kill a Black Innate user Lynx in 1 hit so using a 2nd Black Innate user Harlie against both is really a BAD idea UNLESS you use the Evade boost cheat on this version.
Pilfer seems to work more often when enemy hp is low and even higher if enemy is "Frozen" after using elements like "Ice blast" but also tied to hit % which can be improved with elements like "Eagle eye" or "Ninety-nine".
It may sound silly, but some enemies use trap elements. When this happens, my tip is to only use techs or physical attacks to prevent your element from getting robbed
An interesting tip about summon spells is that a ton fo guides recommend you learn them by endgame of the elemental bosses in the final dungeon, but the truth is that even form early game there are specially powerful enemies that carry them. Sadly, I don't remember most of them, except the first one: right after you get the summon tutorial, Solt and Pepper will mention losing a summon and give some sort of hint about it being in the hydra marshes. It turns out if you go to there after that, there'll be a unique centipede enemy carrying the yellow element summon.
I did that FROM the normal enemies its just that WITHOUT the FULL Field elements final dungeon and only for red blue green and blue summons are ONLY worth it then theirs no Black/White Field element at all which suck since out of all the summons ONLY Saints white innate end game is really the only one worth using.
Not really the only useful Rainbow Shell weapon are Glenn/Serge (Lynx) since their best weapons normally will NOT transfer to NG+ runs but the Prism Helms are NOT worth it.
The amount of battles between Star battles varies by a set amount, after that amount you will stop gaining random stats, and once you reach that number you'll actually get something known as a mini star stat growth which can be quite significant. There is a chart online that has these numbers for between each star battle. I THINK your current stats are what determines whether you get the bigger bonuses from those mini star battles, that is if your stats are lower than the average of what they should be at that point in the game. If your stats are already too high then the game won't give them to you. Another thing to note is ALL characters even unrecruited ones get stat boosts from the Star battles you fight! However only the characters in your party get the stats from those aforementioned mini star battles, so it pays to use your favorite characters often, or if you want to level up a specific character quicker, you can insert them into your party if you know that a mini star battle is about to come up. You'd need that online chart to know the specific number of fights you need to reach a mini star battle depending on where you are in the game as it varies between each boss fight aka star battle.
However if you keep No Encounter on do NOT Dismantle that gold boost accessory for 3x Irons instead keep it as is and equip it on Serge for the entire game since with no encounters on your best gold source will ONLY be from bosses. I also chose the Save Kid route so no Glenn the battle boost cheat makes you unkillable so you really only need to heal between battles with it turned OFF.
That said, I actually know how you can make pretty much all the money you need but it comes about mid game. Hmmm, I'll be sure to place that in my run!
I do since if you evade all attacks then the lv 5 Elements that cause Freeze Poison Burn or in Black Hole's Case instant death won't work if the elements don't do any damage however with the Evade boost you can STILL have the Trap's still take effect even if they normally miss due to the evade cheat..
As long as you KEEP the Profiteer purse even with fighting only bosses you'll still likely have more gold then what you need to spend it on normally I'd buy enough Recover all/heal all at least 30 so that the entire party can set at least 10 of them for the harder bosses. However with the Evade boost turned on your really won't need to buy ANYTHING but attack based elements the best of which is going to be Meteor Shower.
@@veghesther3204 Yup! There's a far better way to get gold! Thanks for pointing this out! I'll do a second more "intermediate" mid game tips video soon!
I always had issues getting glenn, also didn't know about the say no to Kid part going to do that, I don't use walkthroughs like I use to I try to find the spoiler free ones
Here is an incredible tip, the enemies don't attack randomly, especially bosses, they act on a set turn timer. Weak attacks = 1, Medium = 2, Strong = 3, Defending (Not the entire party) = 1, Elements = 1. I don't know what the entire party defending one is sadly. Using this information you know exactly when an boss attack is coming making even the most difficult of bosses easier. It also highlights that if a character has less the 1.0 on their stamina gain they aren't that good relatively speaking and can get you stuck in a low stamina cycle if you're not prepared for the boss. You can actually use the above information to with 100% certainty get the true ending without the boss interrupting you.
Great place to grind mini-stars is Lizard Rock south on AW. There are 5 (not 5, there are 4 woops) encounters that will run to you and are easy to beat. Plus you can get to the overwold to switch out quickly.
Keep in mind when you grind for mini star levels, sometimes you stop gaining HP any stats at all for a few battles, but if you keep grinding, THEN you'll gain some extra stats ALSO, you can get ministar stat bonuses for every character after every star level. Meaning every time you beat a boss, you can gain extra stats for EVERY CHARACTER, even if they weren't in the Star Battle
Best characters are basically just Guile, Serge/Lynx, Fargo imo. Glenn is decent but you could just funnel turns into Serge/Lynx; Serge/Lynx has higher crit rate (because of Mastermune) than Glenn, even if Glenn gets einlanzer. Guile has the ability to hit multiple targets on his attack 3 paired with eagle eye he will crush multiple targets easily. Fargo can use steal and vigor (you don't run out of stamina so you can attack like 3-4 times on Mastermune serge before the enemy gets a turn), probably the best support utility in the game.
@@JRPG-Mickey Karsh stamina gain is low, but he is good when you get him in that moment as Lynx, if you want to do damage. Van I would say is really good for clearing multiple monsters as well if you don't have guile, Can't remember if Mel did the asme. P.S Eagle Eye very overpowered element, try to get it as early as possible
Any stafff user hits everyone on the strong attack, tho. I would argue razzly due to her monstrous magic gains or the shapeshifting elf lady, due to her variety of transformations are better staff users.
@@Nirwanda001 Not Radius tho XD I'm sure he's using that cane/staff as single target. Tho Guile gets more elemental grids later at level 6-8 compared to other staff users, so he will do more often damage assuming you want to use elements. At least until Serge gets mastermune where giving all the turns to Serge is just faster battles.
It's important to note that stat boosting magic and such receives no panalty from being placed at level 1, meaning it's useless to have them clogging up the higher levels of your element grid Edit: damn you already mentioned it in another video
You can run from boss battles?? Wow, I never would've thought to try that, considering how that works in most games. But that's great to know, I was so annoyed when stealing failed.
Awesome video. I would recommend (first tip) to avoid getting the heckran bone. Next, say NO to Kid after your first Karsh battle. Leena and Poshul will always join (Leena is a blue mage and she can be useful using frog prince)
@@JRPG-Mickey hi, I got the idea by watching speedruns, the gamers would get Poshul and Leena just by rejecting kid 😂 m.th-cam.com/video/UuYD-v00Pt8/w-d-xo.html minute 23:00 (example)
Here's a tip - The Pluses and Minuses on the element grid barely affect damage at all Once you get better elements, there is literally no reason to use weaker ones For Example A level 4 element -2 is ALWAYS MORE POWERFUL better than a normal level 2 element in a level 2 slot.
So yeah, go ahead and set all your Cure-All's and Heal-Alls to the lowest possible element grid slot you can because A. You can use them cheaper B. The decrease in power is barely noticeable
My biggest gripe with CC is not knowing when to stop doing "minilevelling" in some playhrough I did 7 fights to reach one! I was hoping they would add some sort of minilevel bar. Guile looks cool but if you want to get story implications you have to get the singer for the Viper manor heist, which sucks considering who Guile was supposed to be in early development.
Most of the time it's 5 battles, but in a few spots it's 7-10 battles at most. If you'd really like a SET number, 10 battles is the most that Chrono Cross will make you do to earn that Mini Star...Hope this helps!
I mean, if you're really worried about that then I would recommend looking up the cast of characters and how to unlock them before committing to a playthrough.
The one single tip that has helped me more than anything else is knowing that this game actually uses a hidden AP bar for time passage in battle, and it fills in basically the same way Stamina does, and when a certain amount is used is when the enemy gets to attack. Even though there is a hidden AP tally only the enemies actually have an actual AP bar that when full they will attack. You get to make as many action as you want til their bar is full, so it doesn't affect you at all, it's just there to determine when the enemies will attack, and of course to mark the passage of time so that everyone gets their Stamina recharged & whatnot. Literally all the combat mechanics make more sense when you know this & that the reason your other characters regain Stamina is not because you used it w another character but because time passed & they regained that much stamina due to the time passage. Aka a weak attack uses 1AP, medium 2, strong 3 etc. The only diff is Elemental spells use only 1AP not 7 like it does for Stamina. Stamina is a separate thing even though the numbers are similar. If you know the size of various enemies AP bars you can literally predict when they will attack! Each enemies bar is a different size, and there is a bit of RNG before each of their turns that makes the size of their AP bar vary slightly sometimes, so it's not always foolproof to predict when they'll attack. Either way, even if you don't know the specifics for each enemies AP bar, just knowing that it exists & that it's what affects when enemies get to attack is very helpful & makes the battle mechanics make more sense all around!
It's the BEST tip absolutely! I didn't go over it here due to beginner tips being kind of condensed, but I wanted to do a video about it eventually after the battle tips one. Unfortunately I ended up getting sick for 2 months. Handy has a really great video on the AP system! ( Pinned comment channel)
Don’t underestimate the characters, they are all good as long as you know how to use them, sometime you have an incomplete character when you get them, but later on with the right equipment and build are the best.
Very much worth noting that you should also refuse to help Kid when the option arises, or else you'll miss out on Glenn aka one of the best characters in the game. So basically the only time you should ever be nice to Kid is during your 2nd encounter with her so that she joins your party. Other than that it's no no no all the way lol. Poor Kid...
Razzly is one of the best characters in the game too, so to be honest it really doesn't matter who you get first from both except for personal preference (I even think that for early game during a first cycle Razzly is more useful than Glenn). In any case, the game is actually very easy, and the real challenging battles (Garai and Miguel) are done while you are Lynx, neither Glenn nor Razzly are available for those battles.
@@SeventhheavenDK Yeah I do agree that Razzly is pretty great. Her magic stat is awesome & she has some great techs. She's fragile as hell tho. I also agree that Glenn doesn't become OP til later on, so yeah I suppose it doesn't matter that much. And yeah the game is quite easy. Lol you're pretty spot on with all your points.
Wish it was an updated Chrono Trigger, but I'm glad they are giving some interest into the Chrono series. I am excited to use my weekend exploring this game yet again though. Thank you for the video.
Now with that battle boost that makes you unkillable (R3) I think you can farm a lot of trappable elements during the same fight without having to worry to heal your party? Or the enemies have a limited time of uses per elements maybe?
I'll go over trappable elements in a different video, but in theory I'd say you are correct in the seense that you're unkillable. The element casted is trapped anyway though, so you don't take damage from it as is! Maybe you're speaking of Criosphinx? Anyways, if you're up to it I'm coming out with the trap video soon enough!
best tip - Traps. Traps. Traps. Traps. Traps. lvl 5 6 and 7 elements can only be acquired (besides spefici chest) through trapping. buy and use all the traps as soon as possible. its pretty important
I'm quite a ways through my first playthrough and currently experiencing the Lynx effect. I completely forgot about being a jerk to Kid at the start of the game so i have missed Leena and Alternate World Poshul. I was able to get Home World Poshul instead though thanks to the Heckran Bone. But Seeing that I know I have to go through this game at least 3 times and complete a certain ending. I'll be a jerk to Kid and get Leena on the next playthough!
BTW I tried to do the steps for Kid's lv 7 tech yet the game itself would NOT recognize the buttons used for it so once you get that far make a video with the exact buttons need an where to stand before that machine during the burning house scenario will correctly recognize the correct inputs.
Thanks because when you first Press the X button near that machine the game ends up showing a really weird password like screen but I'll still not use how to type in LARA from their.
Blue is the best innate Color, and Leena is very good. however, Fargo is the best blue bc stealing is far too important. So while yes Leena is good, she is benched once you get Fargo.
So an note about stealing don’t;) But for real almost all enemies have two types of drops and steals an common and rare I am at the end of the game and Few of the bosses have rainbow shells which is one of key items to make the best equipment. You also need. Items that are really only dropped when you summon and you need an special hammer otherwise you can’t make the best equipment. The second best swallow weapon in the game get removed from your gear on the new game plus because it’s an key item.
Without the Evade boost cheat on you MUST steal ALL the armors off all 6 dragon bosses but every boss in the entire game besides the LAST 2 all have items worth stealing starting with the bosses you fight BEFORE entering Viper Manor itself. Glenn also needs a replacement weapon HIS best one also counts as a Key item and doesn't transfer over to NG+ runs either.
From what I understand, damage to relative innates like in your example do "less" damage in that a green/yellow/blue/red would do more damage to a white innate compared to a white damaging a white innate
@@JRPG-Mickey I see, so there is in fact a slight damage reduction when going up against a like colored innate? I of course don't mean compared to it's weakness, I mean compared to a neutral innate.
So question. Is it REALLY a good idea to disassemble that Profiteers Purse? Seems to me it would be FAR more useful having increased Gold throughout the game! I mean you simply would need to tough it out without the Iron for a while, not that big a deal for something that I would think would benefit you more in the longrun aka the increased Gold.
Honestly, I’ve done both, and, on my first play through of a set of three? I’d rather have the iron and copper on my way into Viper Manor. That plus all the Dragon feeding prizes? Iron Vest, various copper implements, and a Recover All? You’ll be marching down the halls of Viper Manor like gods among lesser mortals. Just don’t get cocky around the bosses.
@@corsaircaruso471 Meh, I find it to be far more useful used for it's given purpose. The money you gain with it throughout the playthru ends up being far more valuable than a couple pieces of slightly overpowered gear early.

Wish I'd known about how to get Leena before I started playing. No idea if I'll actually play through the game more than once, since I'm trying to finish a lot of different games right now.
@@THEGREATMAX And I have close enough to a thousand games to play on Steam alone (and every console I've owned since the Wii), so if I don't feel like trying for another ending after the first playthrough then I'm not gonna. Kinda tired of the pace I've been building a backlog at for the last 15 years.
best team, Leena for healing, and whoever the fuck you want, two randoms are pretty much okay, you can finish the game pretty easy with her on your team
You also want to have a good member for each innate as some elements can only be used by an innate of that color. For me, I would typically use Serge/Lynx, and the other 2 characters would be innates that helped. For example if I faced an innate red boss, I would use Serge/Lynx, then use a blue and red characters. You can't always do that, but it can help. Only time I would stray from that was with the dragon fights, as Fargo is necessary to steal the plates from them. Those are invaluable, especially the fight against Dario. My best party members tended to be Serge and Riddel for white, Grobyc and Guile for black, Kid and Draggy for red, Leena and Fargo for blue, Zoah and Norris for yellow, and Glenn and Razzly for green.
@@JRPG-Mickey No prob. I never knew that stealing was tied to the heavy attack %, so thanks for that. Playing through the remake now and gonna correct some of the mistakes I made back in the day.
Best early party members are Leena and Glenn of course. They are even the best party members end game imo thanks to Leena having Vigora and Glenn having twin einlanzers.
Stealing is actually pretty good! You can get Moonglasses from Harle early in the game, Element Plates from Dragons, a Power Seal from Tyrano later in the game, Sky Djinn Rings from the TutanShaman's...Lots of great stuff to steal in my opinion!
I’ve mastered farming for lvl 5, 6, and 7 elements. I spent disgusting amounts of time farming for Black Hole, Volcano, Tornado, Holy Light, Ultra Nova, Carnivore, Earthquake, Thunda Strike, Freefall, and all the summons.
Always be a jerk to Kid, yes. Tell her no, for joining the party. Also, for the love all that is Holy, don't try to save her when you get the chance! Only jerks who don't choose to save Kid get /Glenn!/
Guess it really depends on: 1) do you plan on continuing after beating the game once? 2) would you rather have one of the best melee green innates or one of the better green innate mages? If playing on after beating the last boss then you can do both, but I also usually go the Glenn route first playthroughs anyway since you can later add him back in during subsequent playthroughs.
The stat bonus you would have gained with that character from the boss IS LOST FOR GOOD!!! Run away, and try again, and ALWAYS have Revive equipped to level 3-4 with Serge to bring allies back to life with decent health!
@@superzellff8179 stats "catch up" if you are behind, the game has a weird semi random stat allocation method where it checks where your stats should be at the current star level giving more if you are behind the curve, so dont sweat too hard, you will catch up in the long run after a few more bosses. however that character will be weaker for a bit until it corrects itself.
ALL those turn your OWN attacks into the matching innate but it only works for specific one so the LESSER Pendragon one only works if your hit but 1 lv elements Fire ball uplift etc but by the time you actually find that one very FEW enemies will use lv 1 elements. The Strongest of the 3 sigils takes effect after your hit by any lv 5 or higher element and yes that accessory when your hit Can BOOST the Mastermune's physical damage even higher.
@@veghesther3204 how does turning your attack element into the same one that the enemy has a good thing. wouldnt that just make them resistant to your attack because they have the same element?
Well the last boss has access to EVERY elemental type of attack in game so the Sigils are actually very useful for the last boss especially for the ending where Serge needs to SOLO it but I also had the Mastermune do more damage with the Strongest of the 3 Sigils equipped as well as with the Sun Glasses equipped after killing Crisosphinx. Also the Sigils only make your PHYSICAL hits be Elemental based not the elements you use yourself on it however the Sigils take effect after ANY elemental is used not just the Enemies hitting you with any. So IF any of the Sigils are equipped and your used a HEALING spell on that party member it would still cause the Sigils to become that element for your Physical hits only so other then against the FINAL boss or the Dragon God Boss top of the Tower of Terra the 3 Sigil accessories are pretty much useless.
Some items are really good you are probably better with stuff that increases your hit rate. Some items are really good like the moon glass which decreases damage
I hadn't messed around with Pendragon Sigil's very much but from what I understand, the element that is casted on the wearer of the Sigil then obtains that element innate...so for instance, Recover All is white, Heal is green, and Cure Plus is Blue...meaning that if you cast these spells on the person who equips the Pendragon Sigil, they can now be turned into White, Blue, or Green innate's depending on your choosing. OR...I'm wrong completely!
Honestly, Id rather take kid for the first playthrough and save her from the poison since you miss out on a lot of pilfer opportunities before picking up Fargo. Leena is great and all, top tier, really, but pilfer is really strong.
Probably you know by now, but you must give Poshul an Heckran Bone while in Arni Village (Home) and she will join you (but it must be done before the events at Opassa Beach).
The game throws a color sequence you need at you really early, and repeats the sequence throughout the game, then beats you over the head with it late game.
That's kind of an odd way to look at it, though. You aren't being an asshole to her. You're simply refusing to join up with her. She's a complete stranger to you at that point, and you're lost and confused as to what's going on, so it's only natural that she wouldn't be someone you trust just yet. Refusing her is basically the equivalent of saying "No thank you, I'm going back to the village for now".
@@marksamson4173 You're thinking about the wrong part. That's just to get Leena. The part that's being talked about is when Kid gets poisoned and you choose not to go to the Hydra Marshes to find Hydra Humour. I don't really see it as being a dick to her though. It's more of a realistic choice and less of an anime/jrpg protag choice. All your options are shot down and you don't really know what to do or how to go about saving her. You're not downright refusing to help Kid, your response is that you just don't know what to do.
@@eirmundgundnand9442 The initial post mentioned Leena, and the video specifically mentioned not picking Kid when showing her first appearance, though. I was just talking about that
Kid isn't worth it anyway. You lose access to her for most of the game so you can't min-max her with ministar levels like you can with some other characters. My first couple of playthroughs back in the day I always used her bc main character... but these days she doesn't fit with my min-maxing playstyle
@@JRPG-Mickey Personally, I never cared much for Glenn. I usually refuse to save Kid because you get Macha as well for that choice. I've always liked Macha. You don't see older, portly mother type characters playable often in games, so to me, she's a joy to recruit. It helps that she has great stats all around, including the highest defense in the game.
Just some small additional info as I watch through:
On Pillaging: Pillaging's success rate is actually tied to your heavy attack (3) % rate.
What up big dog! You mind if I pin this comment? Always appreciate comments from ya!
@@JRPG-Mickey Oh absoutely not! Thank you for making more Chrono Cross content!
Each the elements plate on the weak characters so the enemies will be in trouble move revive up an few so it heals you more
@@lorddiethorn is there a reason why you didn't spell the characters names? Who the hell are g, l, n, k, z, etc.?
It would take TOO long to post the full spellings of the names of all 45 party members so K and Z are Karsh and Zoah respectively. N = Nikki since theirs a missable quest that if you don't to it the black dragon boss can never be killed G = Guile on this run he's the best of the 3 Viper Manor guides.

My thoughts exactly! My favorite game of all time!
Imagine you're just walking around town and you offer someone's dog a bone and then that dog joins you to go on an adventure and leave its family forever.

The music in this game is phenomenal...I remember playing the music in the background while I did house chores...man times sure flies....
Very true! I'm loving how the comment section is chalk full with tidbits like this! Thanks!
I love the first scene where you got a random character every time you start the game
I really cant wait for the video showing how to recruit all characters eventually
Great video! Looking forward to all the CC content to come!

Starky is by far my FAVORITE character due to how strong he can be!
though his max HP on a first run kind of sucks but he and Fargo on a 1st run never left my party I also did the Save Kid + Guile route on a 1st run.
@@laylamiller6292 yeah, my comment says they are rare steals
I always thought it was funny when we first see Serge go into Another World, and Poshul shows up there too. Hah!
You get unique interactions as well if you have Home World Poshul with you. When you get to Arni (Another), when Karsh throws her from the cliff (😂) or when explaining the Doc about both worlds.
So, in any case you still miss on something, tho I think you get more unique interactions with Psohul from Home.

I've actually never played Radiant Historia...how are you liking it?
@@JRPG-Mickey first it holds your hand for an infuriating amount of game time and then it gets weirdly difficult. I do enjoy the slightly stereotypic characters and story, it's very cleverly made and it's easy to switch between timelines and try out endings.
I mean anything is easier than navigating Shadow of memories.
All people need to know is this: ABUSE THE DIMINISH SPELL. Abuse it! It’s broken as hell! Keeps you alive after it’s cast, nerfs opponent’s spell damage.
One of the best!
Except if you use the Evade boost you don't NEED to use Diminish use Magnify to boost your own damage and with the Evade boost the enemies STILL can't damage you while you get the 1.5 damage increase elements only.
@@veghesther3204 yup. You don't need anything at the point. Pretty much becomes a graphic novel.
Diminish is so cheesy though lol. I equip diminish but only use it against an enemy that uses magnify
On the PS1 version could use Diminish again Garai/Miguel and COULD still both Kill a Black Innate user Lynx in 1 hit so using a 2nd Black Innate user Harlie against both is really a BAD idea UNLESS you use the Evade boost cheat on this version.
I had no idea how to recruit Lena until you said it in this video. Thank you.
I’m so excited that Chrono Cross is in the public eye again. I adore this game.
Or make sure you use an off element. You can usually see what the color is.
The last tip was gold!
Thanks! Hope it helped!
No summons are worth using not just for battle but for making armor and weapons
VERY true! I'm actually going to be doing an ALL SUMMONS VIDEO here shortly!
Not really the only useful Rainbow Shell weapon are Glenn/Serge (Lynx) since their best weapons normally will NOT transfer to NG+ runs but the Prism Helms are NOT worth it.
@@veghesther3204 Uh i think you replied to the wrong comment. 🤔
Thanks for these tips! About to play it for the first time the revamp is the first time it’s been available officially in the uk!
Niiiice! I think this game is GREAT especially if you loved older JRPG's!
Do you also use the evade boost as well? Happy to know that people are using these boosts!
Niiice! My preferred spot is over at Shadow Forest, but I think this one is better!
Keep in mind when you grind for mini star levels, sometimes you stop gaining HP any stats at all for a few battles, but if you keep grinding, THEN you'll gain some extra stats
ALSO, you can get ministar stat bonuses for every character after every star level.
I'm a big fan of Starky and Karsh to add to your list. Once Serge has the mastermune, it's CRIT city!
Starky I'll use for physical damage Only Karsh still sucks even on the bosses you need to kill BEFORE you can fight Dario.
It's important to note that stat boosting magic and such receives no panalty from being placed at level 1, meaning it's useless to have them clogging up the higher levels of your element grid
Edit: damn you already mentioned it in another video

Here's a tip - The Pluses and Minuses on the element grid barely affect damage at all
Once you get better elements, there is literally no reason to use weaker ones
For Example A level 4 element -2 is ALWAYS MORE POWERFUL better than a normal level 2 element in a level 2 slot.
So yeah, go ahead and set all your Cure-All's and Heal-Alls to the lowest possible element grid slot you can because
A. You can use them cheaper

@@mcm426 Very nice! I'll definitely be doing a guide on the characters you can get for the first half of the game pretty soon. How far are you now?

The stealing or pilfering tip has to be the best tip I've heard. (If true!?)
best tip - Traps. Traps. Traps. Traps. Traps. lvl 5 6 and 7 elements can only be acquired (besides spefici chest) through trapping. buy and use all the traps as soon as possible. its pretty important
Can you get the profiteer's purse when you go back to Termina? I missed it the first time I was there. I went back and was not able to get it.
BTW I tried to do the steps for Kid's lv 7 tech yet the game itself would NOT recognize the buttons used for it so once you get that far make a video with the exact buttons need an where to stand before that machine during the burning house scenario will correctly recognize the correct inputs.
I'll make a video on that specific tip...LARA!
Thanks because when you first Press the X button near that machine the game ends up showing a really weird password like screen but I'll still not use how to type in LARA from their.
Where is the next video I need my Jrpg fix!!!
Nice, happy to see your comment.
yah i had no idea that Leena could join your party. i didn't refuse Kid when she asked to join the party.
Combat tips easy : buff attack and hit rate on protagonist
Debuff defense on enemy
Profit
Also get some magic traps for certain boss fight
Yes! Disassemble that Profiteer Purse before Viper Manor and wreck shit!
Crono Trigger ROCKS!!!
Crono Cross ROCKS!!!
Both seem like 2 totally different games, with an equally great soundtrack!!
Is Leena any good?
Blue is the best innate Color, and Leena is very good. however, Fargo is the best blue bc stealing is far too important. So while yes Leena is good, she is benched once you get Fargo.
@@scottcaligiuri5410 I decided to go for an OP run. Serge, Fargo, Glenn will be my end game team
Will he remake come to the ios? Chrono Trigger was ported over to ios
I missed leena, Glenn, guilie in my first 5 hrs…. Ima start the game over
When can you start to steal ? Just got to Termina and Kid just joined as 4th character
Kill the next boss on your chosen route and Kid will get her lv 3 stealing tech then.
So an note about stealing don’t;)
But for real almost all enemies have two types of drops and steals an common and rare I am at the end of the game and Few of the bosses have rainbow shells which is one of key items to make the best equipment.
Question. So does this mean you will deal LESS damage & take less damage from the same innate element as yourself?
From what I understand, damage to relative innates like in your example do "less" damage in that a green/yellow/blue/red would do more damage to a white innate compared to a white damaging a white innate
@@JRPG-Mickey I see, so there is in fact a slight damage reduction when going up against a like colored innate? I of course don't mean compared to it's weakness, I mean compared to a neutral innate.
@@skins4thewin correct
@@JRPG-Mickey Thx for confirming :)
Is there a difference between getting Poshul with Leena and getting Poshul with the Heckran bone? Besides when you get him or the world he is from.
Just slight conversation changes and the ability for another to interact with home version
Dont save kid glen starsky and serge is my top 3 characters sometimes i switch starsky to guile
Why is Starky so underrated? I think he's one of the best in the game!!

You realize you have to play through this game 3 times with new game plus to get all the characters right? lol
@@THEGREATMAX You realize you don't have to 100% a game if you don't feel like playing more, right?
@@JediMB The game has 11 different endings tho lol
@@THEGREATMAX And I have close enough to a thousand games to play on Steam alone (and every console I've owned since the Wii), so if I don't feel like trying for another ending after the first playthrough then I'm not gonna.
Kinda tired of the pace I've been building a backlog at for the last 15 years.
Does the chrono cross remaster have trophies or achievements
Yes
best team, Leena for healing, and whoever the fuck you want, two randoms are pretty much okay, you can finish the game pretty easy with her on your team
One of my favorite characters definitely
I thought Frog was in Chrono Trigger? Is he in Cross as well?
I would edit him to l for spoilers
Very good recommendations! Thanks!
I like to have kid or Fargo because they can steal
@@lorddiethorn Yeah, it's just too bad stealing is not more useful.
@@msarilyn7677 there is like three rainbow shell that can be stolen
Stealing is actually pretty good! You can get Moonglasses from Harle early in the game, Element Plates from Dragons, a Power Seal from Tyrano later in the game, Sky Djinn Rings from the TutanShaman's...Lots of great stuff to steal in my opinion!
I’ve mastered farming for lvl 5, 6, and 7 elements. I spent disgusting amounts of time farming for Black Hole, Volcano, Tornado, Holy Light, Ultra Nova, Carnivore, Earthquake, Thunda Strike, Freefall, and all the summons.
Holy Light can be captured in Fort Dragonia from the Son of Sun White elemental boss.
Ultra Nova can be captured from Starky, shortly after you first get a boat in Homeworld after changing.
Inferno can be captured from Bunyip’s red/first form.
Volcano can be trapped from Tragediennes, in the Dead Sea.
Carnivore can be captured from the Green Dragon.
I always use Leena way back then
Only the characters in the party lvl up? The other characters outside battle don't gain anything? :(
They actually DO gain star levels WITH you, but to keep their stats high like Serge's, you'll need to constantly build the mini star levels!
And don't overlook Macha. She comes in a package with Glenn and is one of the best red innates.
@@TealBishie You mean Glenn is a Green innate, right?
@@ian-5107 No, I mean Macha is a pretty good red overall. People tend to overlook her since she joins with Glenn and there are cooler looking reds.
@@TealBishie ahhh, yes I agree with that
Very nice
Hey, Thanks!
I haven’t played this game since release. Forgot about all these weird systems
Already stopped the video 2 minutes in lol you can run from boss battles ?!?
Never knew this !
If a character dies in a fight and I beat the boss after, am I able to make up the star level on that character somehow? Or is it lost for good?
If a character dies run away and try again.
They can make up for it later since I did 99 stars back in the OG game 👍
The stat bonus you would have gained with that character from the boss IS LOST FOR GOOD!!! Run away, and try again, and ALWAYS have Revive equipped to level 3-4 with Serge to bring allies back to life with decent health!
@@JRPG-Mickey welp, there goes that save file. Luckily I was only on like star 8. Easy to get back.
@@lysander9957 you should make muti save files. Have save points at different points in the game if this happens again
My man please watch out for the audio mixing next time. Your voice drowns in the beautiful OST. Great video!
what exactly does the lesser pendragon sigil do?
Ohh wow how come u got poshul on the first boss in the island I thot serge is the only one can get the scales
Probably you know by now, but you must give Poshul an Heckran Bone while in Arni Village (Home) and she will join you (but it must be done before the events at Opassa Beach).
The game throws a color sequence you need at you really early, and repeats the sequence throughout the game, then beats you over the head with it late game.
thanks!!
Hope it helps!
How do I know which world I'm in? Simple, i just listen to the music.
There's always an option to show the world name in start option
Only after the events at the manor
This is the REAL answer hahahaha Loved this comment!
A absolutely hate how this game encourages you too be an asshole with Kid. I usually only get Glenn and Leena on a second playthrough because of that.
Yeahhh, the game definitely wants you to try all routes. At least you ended up getting him!
I'm playing this for the first time since I bought it....when it first released. I'm 5 minutes in and realize I don't remember anything.
Totally missed "frog" on my first playthrough because I didn't want to be mean to kid
Niiiiice. Cool to see someone actually comment about this!
So you have to turn down helping her when she's poisoned?
@@klissattack Thats right! When you choose not to save kid you'll get Glenn!
You could always get turnip boy who si even more frog than frog himself.

12% - 18% next time you're out.
