I always play Mick to my bass students, and they are floored. Instantly recognizable in a world filled with imitators. I wish he was still with us. Brilliant player AND composer.

This is fantastic! Makes my day! Jansen, Barbieri, Karn together is magic! Steven Wilson really ads. I miss Mick Karn! No one played the bass like him.

I have been a fan of Japan since early 1980 & their subsequent projects;solo & otherwise, since. Does anyone else have a shudder down their spine at Barbieri's keyboard performance from 6.43 onwards ? What a fantastically talented bunch of musicians, one & all.

As a HUGE PT and SW fan, including the delirium years, from about 2004. I can't believe I'm discovering this today, and it just made my year! Feels like I'm falling through a void of Old School PT and tripping 😊

Agreed. I discovered this earlier this year, late 2022 and cannot believe how good it is. Would love to see a Steven Wilson remix and new release of this JBK material.

Thanks for posting this. I always wonder how people get all this wonderful stuff to post on youtube. After Japan split I did not really follow the individual band members, and what they were doing. Now I know I've missed much. R.I.P. Mick

@alexcubata of course Duran Duran did not officially lose anything to Japan. Can they even be compared?
Fact is (in an interview with John) Japan was inspiration for Duran Duran.
It is by my opinion that Japan is more awesome than DD, thought they remain cool as they were!
    Huzzah, Mick is so pretty!

@mirzamarco I'm guessing that he's triggering a pattern on the drum machine, yes. That's part of his sound, combining real drums with drum loops.

Steven Wilson. He has a band with Barbieri called Porcupine Tree and has worked with many legends over the years including Robert Fripp and Alex Lifeson. Definitely check him out, he's releasing a new solo album the 25th of February.

In all respect to Japan (and Mick, R.I.P.) whose I´m a big fan I wouldn´t agree with such a little hot-headed comment..consider DD doesn´t mean only well-known big hits or similar crap (devastating big-labels-influence is here evident)..such a kind of view would be very unfair and limited..Taken without prejudice DD does mean lots of hidden gems - sophisticated songs, great b-sides, interesting live-versions, Arcadia project, Medazzaland etc. This is what DD musically really means!

It looks like Steve Jansen is not actually playing the drum part, as witnessed at 1:02 and 1:11. Such a pity. Is that a drumloop or what?
