I feel like the Devs should have made the wand cores actually effect your magic. Like dragonheart spells have more damage but cooldowns longer or something. Just to have more immersion into the world and that your wand choice matters.

Could’ve been good and made choices easier to make bc all this is for the fans and RP and I don’t think the devs realize how many newbies would be coming in here trying to research and figure stuff out.
I had my Wizarding World account sync up with my first Hogwarts Legacy playthrough so the visit to Olivander's allowed me to refine the specifics already identified for me from site. Now my 10" ebony wand with unicorn core has the soft spiral with grains (reminds me of a unicorn horn) and the blue and brass celestial handle (a nod to my house). I've been trying to find a craftsman skilled enough to bring it into reality for me. There's a TH-cam channel called "Garrick's Apprentice" where beautifully accurate character wands have been made and I find myself watching them repeatedly. Any fans of the Harry Potter wands might also find enjoyment in them as well.
@@SmoothC92 oh nice! I actually wanna open a “wand shop” of my own. So far I only recreated one wand from HL. (The one that we carry until we get our own)

If we ever get a sequel game set at Ilvermorny in America, we can definitely expect to see wand cores made of horned serpent horn and rougarou hair. Rougarou hair cores even have a natural alignment with darker magic, so I could see perhaps a slight mechanic where if you want to have a darker run, you select that wand core and maybe have quicker curse cooldowns.
I'd love that! OR a Thunderbird Feather core or even coral - there's so many types! I feel like Olivander is too narrowed with his options
I do wish we explore the other magic schools in the hp universe, Ilvermorny included. There's 11 schools and they have so much potential!
@@amyrosefan1883 Yep, though I feel that if other games are made at those schools, it would be nice if they were made by studios with people from those language groups. Like, a French studio making a Bouxbatons game would be fitting, for example.

The ringed wand looks like a unicorn horn, I actually chose it and I also picked unicorn hair for core to match it up 😉
I love the wand customation it really does make the gameplay more enjoyable. I go for the red ok style hard verlation 14 inches Dragon Heartstring elder wand I love customation so much
Me too! My wand is a classic grey brown color, wood type is cherry, flexibility is unyielding, length is 13 inches, and the core is a unicorn hair. Looking at the classic grey brown wand, I was in a trance, like it was crafted for me. The wand really does choose the wizard!
i also chose the classic black because i think it looks the best, but i defintely regret not picking a lighter color one because i could barely see the wand in actual gameplay :( i hope that they can let us change the color of the whole wand in the future.

Mine is also a classic wand, I chose the grey brown color because I was immediately drawn to it, one look and I was like: "I gotta get it ASAP!"
None of the wand woods or cores actually do anything different so it really doesn't matter apart from the seperate designs choice
I actually used the wand I was given by Wizarding World (formerly Pottermore) and kept the settings that were randomly assigned for appearance. It felt more realistic to be given a wand like I would be rather than being able to choose it myself for the play I’m doing. In all the wand tests I do, I get Dragon heartstring. My first wand was Beech and my last two were Holly and Holly again (wizarding world made me retake the test for some reason).
Oh that’s cool! Yeah I think mine got preselected too now that I think of it.. 🤔 but then I changed the design

My wand is the classic design with black. It's 12 and 3/4 length, elder wood, and I think swishy, with a phoenix core. I use 3 handles I change out. The spiral one that you had on the classic wand, imperial white and gold, and the black arrow.

I also chose the classic design but it’s the grey brown variation. I loved the simple and sweet vibes. Soon I’m going to add a pink handle and it’ll look spectacular.
The arrow black wand handle is from a mission in Upper hogsfield from madam Beaumont

I got lucky and found my wand handle pretty much at the beginning of the game. Like the first one I found. It's called "Celestial - Blue". It's like a shiny blue with a marble in the end. Like literally never found any other one I wanted to use and it was on my wand the entire game.
I almost decided to change to the "Celestial - Dark Gray" one, cause the marble in it was blue and the gray matched my wand better than the blue, but I decided not to in the end.
Edit: Also, no need to hunt for the black arrow one. It's a quest reward. "Brother's Keeper" side quest. The quest giver is in Upper Hogsfield. You can get it almost instantly. You won't find it otherwise.

Perfect customization of a wand. I still have to wait for Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 because that copy isn't out yet, and I hope it's not delayed again, so I can play it now.

I haven't bought the game yet, but my wand is going to be the one I got on Pottermore. 10.75 inches, hornbeam, phoenix pheather and solid flexibility!!

As a Gryffindor I went with Classic black (like you), a Whippy 13 inch Ebony. Dragon Heart String. Unfortunately the only wand handle thats red was the basket weave handle, but it looks good though!
I really like this classic one. But for a different character I tried the one that has a very subtle spiral motion going on. It’s also same black, and it looks pretty good with all the handles too
I looked this up bcs on one character I chose the 6th wand, and when it casts the rings on it light up the color of the spell that's cast.
so I wanted to see animations, and if different things happened 😐 nobody does actual testing for some reason...
I bet nobody even notices the little details like that, the only universal animation the wands have is the little swirl of ancient magic that's around it when your meter is full.

Would like it if each wand style all shared the colors instead of it restricted to a style, would've preferred a soft spiral grey/white or black stalk wand, or deeper shades of red.

Hounestly i went into the wand costumesation, expekting a Button on the wood type sektion, to show a deskription on what that wand wood brinks to the wand, instead i had to look it op on my own to decide it, and then it took me olmost an hour to make the wand, i dobt even know why the devs dident even copy the pottermore Pages to the wand customasation, its such an obivius thing to do counsidering they did it fore the potter fans, its deffintly something they could add to improve the Hole experience.
LOL the wand designs you like the least, are the ones i liket the most😅.

I hope we get another game Series for North America wizards set in Ilvormorny. I would totally buy it. My Pottermore’s wand is an Ebony with a core of Dragonheartstring 12 and 3/4 inches Reasonably Supple. Knowing Shikoba Wolfe and her wand cores which so happens to be made of Thunder bird tail feather. That would’ve been my wand. The same wand wood, same wand length, same wand rigidity, but different wand core as I happen to live in North America. 😁
When it came to creating my build i modeled mine after lord voldemorts wand lol gave it the bone white/light grey design made it 13 and 3 quarters though with the yew and pheonix, its done me proud so far, great for combat but a bit frustrating for other things

I hope we get a second game and we can choose a wand again but we have 20 wand choices and loads of colours. I went with classic brown and black leafy handle that reminds me of a unique style of the first movie wand for hardy potter

Mine is the Ringed dark brown 10 1/2 willow and Phoenix core, haven’t quite found my wand handle yet, none of mine call to me yet which sucks but I’m still on the look out.

i got the crooked spiral-dark grey/ yew wood/core unicorn hair/fairly bendy/ thirteen and a quarter inches, i liked that design, so far 20 hours in very fun game
Does the core of the wand change stats at all, or is it just a neat detail that you get to pick?
No, it doesn’t affect anything in the game, just registers in your wands dicier and that’s it. Though I hope maybe in the next game the different wood types and cores will come with unique features and stats
I was bummed out that i couldn't choose Thestral tail hair for my wand core. Oh well. Ya can't get everything ya want rite? Besides, this is my new favorite RPG & Game of all time.

I'm so confused. I didn't get an option to customize my wand. Is it because I'm on Xbox or because I did a quiz on the Harry Potter fan club sight and it chose a wand for me? I'm so bummed lol
@@LittleMissStamper you can customize it on any platform.. you probably overlooked the option to swap between the menus where you customize the wands
I restarted my game because I didn’t like how my wand looked. I think I’m going to choose the classic black. I like its simplicity and I think a handle will make it look more creative
Haha I hear ya.. the very simplistic one is good and also the one that has subtle spiral waves on it.. both in black work great with all the handles
The wands really feel like it was made just because of the potter more thing. It had to add all the stats that the quiz had despite doing nothing in game, don't even know if it changes what it looks like.
Yeah, it’s a very minor thing, but it’s nice. You can tell the visual difference. Even with the different handles

Not the wand, no. The outfits have different stats, but you can swap their looks.

I actually chose the spiral wand for my first playthrough, and it wasn't until after i finished the game that i realized Isidora had the same wand, so i made a headcanon that it chose my character after... well, you know.. and that detail is really cool.
Once I found out that the wand doesn't effect game play, I didn't care what the wand looked like or was.
Kinda got me hard thinking which would be more accurate for a wand core to work with Elder wood since I’m stuck between Dragon and Phoenix for lore accuracy RP for sure, would’ve made things easier if the cores did effect things.
I’d go with the Dragon heartstring, since it produces more powerful magic.

No, you don’t get to pick. The wand chooses the wizard. Do the Pottermore quiz and link up your account to the game. It is the only way.

I'm disappointed with the linited customizations for our wands. The ones that Olivandar hands us before choosing ours have designs that we can't get. We can get the first handle, but the extra gold accencts are not available at all. Plus, I wish we could just completely choose every little detail, and make it how we want it. Handles are cool, but they are bland without extra accents, on the rest of the wands. Look at Hecat for instance; her wand has an amazing style, but no way. We can not customise our wands.
That’s true, they do show a bunch of wands throughout the game that are very unique. Maybe they are saving some ideas for possible future dlc packs 🤔
@@BenjaminSnow I love the wands shown throughout, I would like to see some sort of deeper customization added, even if I have to pay extra, I just want our wands to be specifically personal. There is a lot missing from the gameplay, but I'm happy with it overall, I just hope they don't ditch it after getting their bag
