My Granny used to make this. My deepest regret is, I was too young to learn cooking from her. Today is her 15th death anniversary, and I hope to recreate some of that magic...

Hi Florency, I'm not sure whether this is your daughter or you I'm addressing. Just wanted to let you know that we tried out this recipe. It came out absolutely delicious. The container we used was much smaller than the one you used so we baked the remaining mixture and that turned out very well too. Thanks you so much. It's a real pleasure to watch the way you do your cooking and it has caused my wife to start cooking again. Many blessings from New Zealand.

Will the eggs not cook whilst adding to hot milk
I made the caramel custard your way and was wondering why i have been making it in hot water bath in oven which takes so long but results are the same !!!
Can you please give me option for egg as l m vegetarian?
Hi Florency do you have to boil the milk to make the custard?
Hello @MN :)
What you're looking for is hot milk; the milk just needs to reach that boiling stage and then taken off the heat. Some would argue that this would affect its texture, but this custard isn't the one where you cook the milk-eggs mixture till thick.
The heat ensures that the yolk membrane isn't seen as a separate 'tiny wave' on the inside of final product.
Hope this helps 💫
Nice yuummmmmyyyy

Thank you!

What can be used instead of aluminium foil?
Please reply me
The aluminium foil is simply to cover the vessel so no water drips onto the pudding. You can cover it with a heat-resistant plate
Can I use the same recipe but bake the custard?
Hello, Flavia :)
I haven't tried baking this in an oven. So I can't be absolutely sure, but one thing, you'll have to use a water bath if that's how you're planning on cooking it. (Place the custard/pudding tin in a baking tray with some water in it) Could possibly take 45-50 minutes- or more, the pudding must be jiggly, yet firm to touch.
I use 5 eggs for 500 ml milk
Is tht okay?
I have not tried it with 5 eggs, 4 work perfectly for my recipe :) But in case you do use more, let me know how it turns out- I would love to learn from you✨
Can we steam since mould not fitting in the cooker
Kly advise
Can we steam in a pan instead cooker
If yes how long
How to cook without cooker usage? In simple vessel and time...
Hello, Rimi :) Without a pressure cooker, the preparation procedure stays the same, only the cooking time changes- you'll have to place it in a large vessel with water, upon a stand and cover the dish and cook for about 25-30 minutes. It will still appear to jiggle a lot, but after cooling it will gain some firmness to be over-turned.
Thanks for your question, hope this helped 💫
I don’t understand 9 whistles. I calculate the timing of my pressure cooker after lowering the flame after the 1st whistle on high flame. Do you mean Is that 6 to 8 minutes after lowering the flame after the first whistle?
Hello Stephanie, thank you for the interest shown 😀 keep the flame on medium high throughout the whole cooking process, that's till the 9 whistles and it will take not more than 8 minutes 💫 Hope this helps 👍

It becomes too hard, my children didn't like it
Seems like you've encountered some troubles in the cooking; since this recipe is basically just milk and eggs, it's quite surprising that it's turned out hard - I would be very glad to discuss this with you, to help us both understand what could have gone wrong :)
Maybe the cooking time/number of whistles? Do write back if you're willing✨
