How to quickly elevate the kingdom of mann and the isles
-Create a character with the Viking/Raider trait
- Marry a woman who will give you prestige. I would choose Saga, the “Truth-Speaker,” the daughter of Halfdan Whiteshirt
-Acquire much piety by executing prisoners (raiding ireland is a good option for prisoners)
- With this acquired piety, you can divorce and remarry Saga as many times as possible until you become a living legend
- Kill Ivar the Boneless
-Fight against Ivar's child for independence
- Now just elevate the kingdom of mann and the isles
- If you wish, you can also conquer the Sudreyjar before raising the Isle of Mann so that it becomes de jure part of the kingdom

Vykngrs are broken in CK3, playing as them is a piece of cake. Start as a count in Norway with a character with martial education.
1) Raid neighbours for gold. ~70 should be enough. Hold a feast with a high meal complexity and low number of courses. Chose event options which give you prestige. You should end up with 500-700 prestige.
2) Spend the prestige to get Varangian Veterans, with enough prestige left to get them to full strength.
3) Raid again, but not for gold, but for battles. Defeating armies while raiding gives you prestige.
4) Repeat step 2,3 till you have 900 VVs.
5) Start conquering until you have a kingdom.
6) Create an acclaimed knight with the vanguard attribute, preferably with valiant as the secondary attribute.
7) Repeat steps 2,3 until you get the acclaimed knight to glory level 5 and have 2700/3600 VVs. (Note: don't raise your levies while raiding, the target is more likely to attack you if your army looks smaller. Make sure to target appropriate realms, whose armies you are confident you can wipe with your VV stack)
8) Enjoy being an unstoppable war machine.
post life 1 advice: it's okay to have multiple eligible children, conquer as many kingdoms as you need to keep your primary titles to yourself. Infact, it is better to have as many independent kingdoms as you can, ruled by your dynasty members, as this will allow you to get renown quicker to get the "making a killing" perk in the pillaging dynasty legacy, this perk can help finance your realm when you switch to feudal.
People still haven't realized that going with High Taxes and March is the best way to cheese the contract.
Huh... I never thought about that, but that's probably because I play a lot more Stellaris than Crusader Kings. Stellaris has conditioned me to specialize everything, so in CK, my holdings and vassals are specialized as well. I need to stop focusing on efficiency and more on crushing my vassals under feudalism.
It's not that obvious tbf, you can get march without offering anything in return, so with high taxes you can get bot march and council rights. Most would assume that you'll need to give something for march too, which is not the case
Also offering "forced partition" when starting in 867 in exchange for "council rights", is kinda free for most cultures. at least early on.

You were much too hard on the sardinia guy. The strategy is actually quite good, but you somehow seemed hellbent on it being bad despite it working and you ending up very powerfull. The fact that he was slightly incoherent in how he wrote it and left a few thing for you to work out yourself doesn’t make it a bad strategy.
He was wrong about almost every detail lmao

@ getting a mine is pretty OP, and since you are already feaudalized you can bulid it early on which is not the case for the gold mines in Mali for instance. Aside from the mines, you also have a wealth of coastal districts that you can put tradeports in to get that sweet sweet culture. The sardinian culture even gives a bonus to coastal areas and if I semember correctly the isolationist perk is also pretty good. When you get the prestige for it there are also a lot of powerful improvements for the culture - the tradeport one comes to mind. You are also very close to Rome and if you are playing as a catholic it is very easy to impress the pope for insane ammounts of extra money. The setup is ideal for a very powerful tall playthrough - especially if you also take Corsica and make a little kingdom, you’ll be a powerhouse of culture and wealth. It is even pretty easy to defend.
And if you are playing wide it is also ideally situated to go and conquor a lot of interesting places.
So playing as Sardinia is definetely playing on easu mode, and definetely not bad advice that I thought deserved being presented in a list of “Terrible CK3 ideas” as a failed tactic. It is certainly much more powerful than many of the ones he gave better reviews.

How exactly does the last idea suck? You don't really need the economy when playing tribal because troops cost prestige, and the buildings that upgrade those troops are way stronger than the feudal ones... the only minus when playing tribal is the tech lock, so after a new era comes, you will have fewer troops, but by that time, you will easily have become feudal, especially with that huge empire it's easy to reform the religion or adopt a new one
None of the ideas sucked, he was incredibly pedantic about them intentionally picking the weakest things within the confines of the idea like picking the shitty tribal count and swearing to minsk, Most of the ideas were intentionally super open ended so people could do them anywhere suitable not random russian bottom development county.
Exactly what I thought. I formed Scandinavia like this recently and had like 20k troops and high gold income. I had to save up like 1000 gold so I could survive going feudal though 😭
You don't even need allies as tribal you can do it alone. Tribal is completely bonkers in earliest start. You can fight anyone once you expand and he have best MAA of the era with Ruriks. My favourite past time in this region is sacking Constantinople on cooldown

The other reason to be Pagan is the "Conquer whatever I want" wargoals so you don't have to waste time with faking claims.
Except that those conquest casus belli don't require you to be pagan, you can be either tribal OR unreformed pagan. What the reddit guy was probably going for was the subjugate casus belli, which is the only one (except claim) that lets you take a whole empire at once. This one however is tied to you and the target being tribal, being pagan has nothing to do with it. The one who suggested the tactic just mixed up tribal and pagan (They do often coincide, but there are feudal pagans and - in the 867 start - also Christian and Islamic tribal realms.)
the best overpowered strat is having an intrigue character, then unlock the abduct schemes. Start one on someone who's land you have a claim on. When it is ready before hitting the confirmation to abduct them, keep the game paused and declare war on them for the claim. After you declare war, accept their abduction and profit.

You should of requested the position of Spymaster rather than Steward, that's what I thought you were gonna do when you requested council rights. If you're planning on assassinating your liege and his family you have a much higher chance when you hold the position that's supposed to defend them from assassinations lol. (Everyone reading this, if you haven't, play Dishonored)

17:22. When Louis died, his confederate partition meant that he was able to create the title kingdom of Sardinia upon his death. She inherited that title and became independent because it was at the same level as kingdom of Italy.
Actually inspired by that Khazaria run, not to take that steppe hell hole but to just absolutely spam kids, while never holding a kingdom title and matrileanally marrying all the girls off.
When I die there are now dozens of independent duchys out there of my dynasty.
Tbh this is probably how to actually achieve the runestone achievement.
You make CK3 look so simple 😭
The reason you need tribal for the last strategy is subjugation CB. Also, tribal is actually OP:
1. Every generation you can subjugate and invade a kingdom
2. You may not have an economy, but you can raid overseas
3. If you pick/reform a culture to allow navigation of major rivers, the game become too easy after about 100 years even if you started as a count because you can raid almost anywhere you want
3. You can easily defeat Byz or HRE - first you raid the hell out of them and kill all their armies (always hire 10-20 berserker champs). Then it is a free real estate with no claims required
4. Lack of technology can be countered with culture hybridisation (much easier for Norse)
5. Lack of good succession laws is countered by free MAA (if you raid and fight then prestige is infinite) and god-tier champions - just declare on your brothers and take it back immediately, all in one go
The only challenge you have as a tribal is if you decide to go feudal/clan. You'd probably do so after 100-200 years, but the game becomes so boring and easy you rarely actually do so :)
Its shorter if after you are betrothed to the princess to kill the emperor, then go for the children. That way he can't make more sons.
i was wondering why he didnt just do that in the first place. the only thing i can think of is that he was trying to avoid losing the primogeniture succession law; apparently it'll change to confederate partition if you do something like attempting to usurp the title. havent played byzantine yet, so i might be off on my guess.
then again, he also could've just decided to take the comment literally and went down the murder list as it was written.
Just because a good idea is poorly articulated doesn't make the idea bad. If the premise of the video had been "can redditers articulate their ideas well enough to succeed in CK3 by explicitly following their strategies" or something along those lines then yeah, you could have put those suggestions in the bad category, but all of these ideas were good. If you're going to be pedantic about word choice, then so am I, heh heh
I saw your eugenics vid a while back and added giants into the mix. Imagine an empire of beautiful, smart, and strong giants. Still playing it now and am like 8 generations deep. I’d say 50% of my dynasty are giants with 2-4 good traits.
the claim throne one, except that is the only perk you get in stewardship before going intrigue. get the perk that lets you kidnap. claim throne -> kidnap liege -> declare war right before executing the kidnap -> kidnap goes off -> enforce demands
My overpowered strat is a modification of that Meritocracy one, wherein you combine it with Kidnapper. You can push through *any* faction demand without effort by first kidnapping your liege. What's he gonna do, declare war? You already have the war leader captured!

Here’s one to get powerful and stable quickly , take advantage of the building speed glitch. Pause the game and then stop and start the building queue over and over again.
At this point it's not a glitch, it's a feature.

I got into fc because I was so bored and sick of 2K and madden, as an American I like futbol aka soccer. I got rlly into it this year. I was introduced to ck3 early 2023 via the free trial on the PlayStation store. Fell in love with it. While off an edible of course, never seen a game with so much depth. Wife got it for me, for my birthday.. and yeah. I always thought strategy games were lame. After watching guys like you though the game is unrecognizable. Haestein as anyone. For example, with Haestein, VA into Duchy of Connect to become tribal. Conquer a Welsh Duchy and set a welsh county as Capital. Convert to realms tradition to become Welsh/catholic. Use prestige to stack thousands of Longbow men (+Vigmen, VV's) and reclaim Britannia (and whatever else). This week Haestein becomes Norman. Haestein becomes Ghengkis Khan. Haestein Unites Africa

"Step 1: Start as controlling Västergötland. Step 2: Somehow conquer Sweden. Step 3: Move capitol to Västergötland." -Its not a good strategy, I tend to fail. But its what I always try to do. History must be set right.
4th idea is actually good, the only thing you would also want is to conquer all of your liege vassal's land. That's how I used to do it before I got too overconfident in the game.

My strat that began as a challenge but turned out to be kind of good is: be a loving father/brother, a loving family member in general. Keep confederate partition, and don't thirst for the land of your brothers. Help them succeed if you can. Keep doing it with everyone. You succeed only if your entire family succeeds
I went from countess to empress using (mostly) diplomacy as Daurama Daura when I was playing Mother of Us All! I used my husband to capture a couple of my closest neighbors, but he was expanding too aggressively so I ended up killing him to split his land among his kids. Remarried, conquered all the kids and formed Hausaland. I conquered most of Kanem-Bornu using Forced Vassalization, but the piece de resistance was befriending the king of Kanem and convincing him to become a vassal of his own free will, even though he probably could have taken me in an all-out war. Diplomacy was by far the most useful lifestyle for MoUA, especially after going feudal. I learned very quickly that ruling over 10 kings is better than ruling over 50 dukes lol.
My favourite start is, pick a duchy in Norway, conquer most of Norway, but don't create the Kingdom. Conquer Isle of Mann, create Kingdom of Mann, take over Normandy while also going for England and Denmark, create Norman culture, then finish off England and Denmark to create the North Sea Empire. Can also create English culture if you want, but it's usually not as beneficial as combining the Norse/French cultures. You end up with a bunch of land, some useful family perks and tons of money from raiding to get Viking for Kingdom of Mann.
I've done it with a single ruler, but usually requires some good luck or murders to get it all done.
OK this is a bit of a long term one I doubt you can make it work in one lifetime but here it is.
Start as Sigurd Snake In the Eye (any Son of Ragnar will work but I find Sigurd is best placed for this)
Ally all your brothers within diplo-range and join in in Ivar and Halfdans invasions of britain aiming to fight as many battles as possible for prestige.
After join in on any other wars you can as participating as an ally is the best way to earn prestige. when there are no wars raid.
you want the prestige to max out your men at arms, focussing on varangian veterans (or if this is too unsustainable Huscarls). You also want enough gold to sustain them once you turn feudal.
you want to try and have the largest army of your dynasty so that you're considered the dynasty head. This is because the Sigurd dynasty is massive and will grow in renown very quickly which you want put into the sea wolves branch instead of whatever crap the AI thinks of.
when you have maxed men at arms and loads of cash on hand do a Varangian adventure on Sardinia. Possibly doing county conquests to get there.
Obviously invest money into the mine in Cagliari but first of all go raiding with the Varangian special troops before they despawn.
The mine will help somewhat but you'll still need to do plenty of raiding to keep out of debt.
Your aim should now be to conquer Corsica, Sicily and Mallorca to take the secure the Mediterranean decision. This gives you a kingdom title not many players see as well as the "Controlling the Mediterranean" house modifier which gives you and house some good buffs as well as a casus belli which lets you take any Mediterranean county semi-cheaply; This is a good alternative to the conquest casus-belli for future characters as it has no fame prerequisit.
Once you have Sicily promote acceptance with Greek until you can form a hybrid culture making sure to take Eastern Roman legacy whilst retaining coastal warriors.
Eastern Roman Legacy and the second sea wolves rank both give you +2 to the size of heavy infantry regiments allowing you to have 4500 varangian veterans as a king or 5400 as an emperor.
The other ranks of sea wolves gives you money after battles and more/better ransoms which turns warfare into a very profitable affair.
now you have an army that can probably defeat anyone else on the map and your in a good position to form the Roman Empire (Which would require becoming Christian which makes it harder to be in a constant stream of Warfare) or you could go for the Miklagarðaríki/King of all the Isles achievements.
I'm sure there are cheesier ways to get more powerful quicker but this way gets you a massive army and (in my opinion) is a lot of fun.
Actually, if your in Sardinia you can invite the Pope to feasts, as a neighboring ruler. It only works, when he can travel though, but you can get like 80 opinion in one go if your lucky with the Feast events.
Theocratic vassals are generally OP, I have them usually with republics as their vassels. Less rebellions, but internal management is still a headache sometimes
Starting as a count between Sicily and Italy, you can finesse the system and get Italia and Byzantine Empire extremely quick. Little bit of diplomacy, little bit if intrigue…

For the Sardinia thing- you could have easily sworn to the pope.

1) 1066 start date. Custom ruler of the duchy of Austria: female, beautiful, fecund, intrigue education, lustful trait and Messalian faith (equal inheritance, lay clergy, and accepted adultery/fornication).
2) Forge a hook on the Kaiser. You want both religious freedom (this is more important) and a council position (this can come later if he starts demanding your conversion before you get your hook). Then keep forging hooks and spying until you have a strong hook on him.
3) Start seducing EVERYONE: HRE, Byzantium, France, Poland, Hungary, Sweden, strong duchies, literally everyone. Especially those who do not yet have heirs.
4) When the the option comes up, acknowledge the true father and legitimize your children. Now your house will be in line for many titles. Send heirs off to foreign courts to be raised as the culture and faith of the title they will inherit so their future vassals won't hate them for being weird.
5) While this is going on, take over the duchies of Steyermark and anything else you want in your future kingdom.
6) Diverge your culture to Austrian to become culture head and race for Royal Prerogative innovation and absolute crown authority.
7) Briefly switch your faith to Catholic to take the decision to form the Archduchy of Austria and gain free early primogeniture and a royal court. Then switch back to Messalian. You should have plenty of piety since Messalians can hold temples and lustful is a virtue.
8) When your children inherit their fathers' lands spend your hooks to force them to ally with you. Now you can help them in the rare event they get factions and they can help you if you need to press your other kids' claims if a half sibling takes precedence.
9) Pick your best daughter as your designated heir for every county and duchy in Austria with primogeniture and absolute crown authority.
10) Rinse and repeat for however many generations you feel like and just watch all the dynastic renown flow in from having infinite emperors and kings of your dynasty.
The first time I did this I ended up with 2 Emperors, 4 Kings, 3 Dukes, and 1 Count as kids for +27 renown per month in just the first generation while Wien/Vienna was the most developed county on the map and I had more gold and troops than my titular liege. Every generation after that just got better and better with more dynastic rulers and more beneficial vassal contracts with steward appointment, coinage rights, fortification rights, sanctioned wars, zero taxes, and the whole nine yards. And you never lose your sweet contract to becoming elected Kaiser because you're the wrong gender and the wrong religion.

start as konungardr. stockpile money for a bit, and go on as many feasts and hunts as you can. once you have a lot of prestige, spam the hell out varangian veterans, and make a few alliances with your kids. wait for byzantine empire to go to war, when they inevitably do, do a varangian adventure smack dab to thrace. hire mercenaries if you couldnot get enough allies to siege constantinople. 9/10 times your varangians absolutely destroy the byzantine army and your allies arrive to help take down constantinople. once you do that youre pretty much good to go, turn christian if you really want to get extra cash from the holy site. you can hybridize with the greeks if you want that juicy +2 regiments to all your varangians. also you have the genius trait and you can work towards inbreeding super soldiers. i mean you can do pretty much anything
I think the MAA corresponding to whoever Italy is weak against means more of: Join Italy, build troops that counter italy's enemies.
I mean I don't see how that would've been any better than what you did, but it's what what they said sounded more like to me.

I didn't realize idea one was a crazy way to play? That's been my default way of acquiring new large chunks of land since I started playing. I have a challenge for you, if you interested. Basically - same thing you did in your previous video - Girlboss empire. But with standart game rules.
Goal - create united african empire of amazons, including egypt, jerusalem and part middle-east all the way to iran. All of it must be your culture, and all, or most of the vassals must be from your bloodline. Also your culture must be as warrior-ish as possible with female dominance, pillars of eastern roman legacy and warrior qeens. And religion must be reformed with killing bloodline forbidden.
Start character: greek women, with achamánism faith (sacrificial ceremonies must stay).Sheikdom of Achinech. With whatever skills and traits you whant (free pool).
So.... I'm asking you to do the perfect tall empire run and make it wide, with penalty of being a women in middle ages. I know that takes like A LOT of time, that is why i can't do it either, but i've tried a couple of times. And it's not impossible. I just can't figure out how to make it fast. Reduce all stats to zero (all kids start with 0 stats anyway, those stats then change with the traits named above) to increase creation score total. Even if you keep stats they will be set to 0.
Add a few traits to reach the creation total of 400/400, usually pragmatic ones like Wise Man and Blademaster
Upon game start you can converge blood and become blood father, the dynastic perk that increases health and age. Fecund, Hale, Blood, and Converged Blood increase your lifespan to about 70, can reach 100 easy with Whole of Body.
Create character and give yourself the best education and get good personality traits and once you reach 16 years old go to university on the other side of the world at minimum cost, (OR Pilgrimage if you selected a VERY far away religion, for example, a Viking Islam or a West African with an Indian Religion) visit EVERY SINGLE landmark along the way, and by the time you get home you're like 21, with a max out wanderer bonus, like 10 different lifestyle bonuses, and if you hit Byzantium Rome and Baghdad you probably have a few FREE traits as well such as flexible truces or embassies. Every single child born is a chad with traits inherited from your great starter genes, can easily reach the child softcap of 20. Bonus points if you have a polygamous religion then land your kids and give them multiple spouses as well and your dynasty can reach 100 members by the time you're 50.
The ONLY bad part about this universally amazing strategy that works for almost anything is what happens after your first character dies. Every single ambitious child will probably make succession rough but once you overcome the initial civil wars then you actually end up with an extremely stable dynasty that can do literally anything. Ending the Iberian Struggle or the Iranian Intermezzo with one character then dominating the region is childsplay. Forming Northsea and uniting the Nords, or even conquering or peacefully vassalizing all of Africa. Easy, and smooth.
20 years of waiting around doing nothing comes with the opportunity cost of having actually played for those 20 years though
@@johnny-smith It’s a very reasonable opportunity cost, because it sets up an entire game while giving you a character that is undisputably the best in the entire world while still being valid for getting achievements.
There is also a weird mechanic where negative factions actually cannot Form against you if you are under the age of five. They will automatically dissolve themselves. You can still play the game however, you can host meet peers to gain prestige, if you are tribal you can still raid, and if you are somewhere safe like Sardinia you can still develop your economy while you are receiving an education. The opportunity cost is not as high as you think

Play as holland in 1066 their culture gives giant buffs to costal holdings just play tall the best possible and go high steward ship it’s most powerful if you game the character creation system by choosing disloyal and starting as a kid with great inheritable traits you should start at 3 and choose learning or steward ship learning perks both are good for playing it tall use the find character thing and go on the wiki to find what gives the best teacher for a character look for a courtier then go to whose court their a courtier in and you can offer to be educated by them and change it to their courtier make bank

Download a mod that gives unlimited gold/prestige/dynasty points, changes your stats around, gives you titles/claims, or whatever else your needing help in.
Heck since Vicky3 came out, this can still get you achievements! Meaning that this is a Paradox Approved way of playing the game. :p
