Not really, they have already pretty good BOP. The chassis just is not as good as say Ford or Ferrari, so M8 needs to rely more on BOP. And even the Corvette and Porsche are running heavier IIRC. It is a quick car, but far from the best in the GTE/GTLM category. It is of course possible that they are still sandbagging, and the car is actually among the best. We will see...
That’s crazy, these race car harnesses look more like police car electrical systems. I wonder how much weight is added in just wiring. Also yes I’m aware they have minimum weight limit so I know they’re not reaching for maximum weight reduction
So the engine is setup as two conjoined inline-4's? The original 8 series used two conjoined inline-sixes, I wonder if this shares the same deficiencies the old car had with the engine requiring two of everything to make it work.
Agree, who in the heck judges a new race car against an already proven chassis/platform? We'll never see another GT2 M3 again...still my favorite BMW ever.
That's an insane turbo setup
Been waiting for an in-depth on this car since it's unveiling and inaugural race!
Apart from the still very German-like accent, his English word pool and intonation is outstanding!
Educated Germans typically speak excellent English
German usually have high standard on themselves, that's why they are the best industrial country on Earth!
dear lord now the germans also speak proper english...whats going to happen next...
It's not standard for germans to speak that good, he is perhaps the best english speaking german I've heard at least in the motorsport scene.
I will buy this car in the future...
Functionally (yet beautifully) shaped end tanks. But where did those two ducts within the trunk come from? The scoop from the top of the rear window?
Love the way this car looks on track but it makes ZERO noise. We kept calling it an electric car every time it went past us at Daytona
one beautiful machine
they got a huge bump in bop for sebring hope they do good still cheering for my corvette boys
I am rooting for Porsche. But I must say, I like this BMW.
The car is definitely quick, it is the BOP that is denying it's pace. IMSA should have been more cautious about their BOP.

Cocpit tour pls
This is awesome!!

What is the cornering G force ?
the wide boi
That's a lot of Reynolds wrap. Congrats on homologating the first SUV in the class.
This may be an unpopular opinion but i like the bmw z4 gte more. M8 seems a bit heavy for gt racer.
It's only 11lbs difference in weight...
M1 Procar is where it's at to me
the Germans need to come up with a way to get that twin turbo v8 screaming like its Porsche counterpart
Javier Rosado Jr. You do know that the Porsche has a naturally aspirated flat six, right?
MKBorn2000 yes
So sad that the ACO fucked them up with the poor bop :(
That is funny, because the old M6 GTE was doing a lot better in IMSA than this model
the season has just started. let's see what will be in the end
and btw m3gt2/gt was more successful than z4 gte, m6 & m8 combined

It's not that M6 was better or M8 is worse... The competition is just better.
Right, because the M6 did so well in it's debut...
