I call bullshit on this. I earned my Eagle Scout at 16 and I'm guessing it's parents and a Scout leader rushing him through the requirements. The Trail to Eagle is supposed to be a journey, not a race.
This isnt possible because it takes a couple months for scout, tenderfoot, 2nd class, and 1st class, that's about 6 months, then star scout, which is 6 months, then life scout, which is 6 months, so he'd be basically 12 for life, then its 6 months for eagle? So if I'm right he'd be 13
@@collinrykaczewski5657 Entirely not accurate. Please do the math prior to making claims. Scouting may be about the journey but some among all do like the race. Nothing precludes it. Watch the video. There is nothing wrong with this young man. There were just under 1000 female Eagles in the Inaugural Eagle Class on February 9th, 2021 and many of them completed the "journey" in 19-20 months.
Paper eagle scout ban!!! This is a joke this kid is not a eagle scout!!! Sad day in scouting to see this happen this is not making scouting strong this just making it a joke!!!!
When I received my Eagle some 40 years ago, You couldn't get your EAGLE in LESS than 28 months and that is if and only if you got ALL of you TIME in RANK + the service hours and could manage all of the board of reviews....The Red Flag of the interview.....No mention of what he did for his Eagle Project.
I am an Eagle Scout. Kylan Ouerbacker is not. I don't care about the time thing like most people do, the kid did it it 21 months where you only have to hold certain ranks for 10 months total. I get that; it's possible. The thing that makes me mad is that he said that Citizenship in the Nation was the hardest Merit Badge. CITIZENSHIP IN THE NATION! He has Chemistry, Space Exploration, Pioneering, etc. and he says that Citizenship in the Nation is the hardest! Because it was hard "learning about the Constitution and doing all of the mailing the Senators" HE HAS THE LIFESAVING MERIT BADGE FOR GOODNESS SAKE! That requires you to know Safe Swim Defense, Reach Throw Row Go, how to identify victims and the stages of tiredness or drowning they are in, how to properly do a 20 second strip and use your shirt or pants to rescue someone, how to not become the second victim, how to save unconscious victims, how to treat a spinal injury, how to perform CPR, raise a 10 lbs. weight from 8-10 feet of water and lastly swim 400 yards with no breaks and he says that CITIZENSHIP IN THE NATION was the hardest! No. Kylan Ouerbacker is a fraud. I try not to say that about people, but that's the truth. Plain and simple.
I am a Lone Scout Counselor and Guide, Merit badge Counselor, District Training Committee members as well as The District Cub Scout training Chairman. I don't believe his advancement is right. In addition to the time requirement for each rank there is a service hours and camp-outs requirement as well as a leadership requirement and the merit badge time requirement. I added it up and at a min it takes 19 months just for time spent in each rank (based on listed time requirement in rank and a few of the badges required. He is claiming he did 60 merit badges in 1 year and 10 months.. I call cheating on his behalf by adults. This would have never made it through our Advancement Committee. Shame on the merit badge counselors for giving this kid a pass on having to do it right a bunch of them take some time in their requirements.
I am a Scoutmaster and this is completely possible to do this. I myself attained the Eagle rank before I was14. But I worked my utt off for it and if it had not of have been for the unforseen circumstances, I too would have done it earlier than I did. Except for my time in the military, I have devoted a lot of my adult life to the Boy Scouts. But instead of calling BS on this young man, how about we support his accomplishments.

Nation is hard if you really put the effort into it. I remember writing full pages by hand. I completed the entire packet, by hand, in cursive. Community on the other hand is much easier because you don't need to do as much research. Really all you need is community service.
Completing the entire packet in cursive isn't part of the merit badge, but anyway, for me, writing in the packet is easier than community service so I guess it just depends on the person.
This would mean he completed 3 merit badges per month on average including his rank badges. Yet, each rank requires time in as an active scout in your troop.
No fraud necessary. If he's 11 years and 11 months, it's almost 2 years if he started on 10th birthday, but he's still legally 11. Ranks that require time in grade amount to 17 months. Also, he probably started working on MB requirements BEFORE starting Scouts.
You can't start scouting until you are 11 years old! Second of all, how is it legal to start merit badges before 11! It's a crock of crap and you know it! There is no way an 11 year old boy even comes close to meeting the maturity and growth and serious training to be an Eagle Scout!
Chad Grimes You can start at age 10 if you've completed the 5th grade, which is when I started in the BSA. But it is still literally impossible to get Eagle in little over a year. It took me 5 years to attain mine.
A lot of disrespect in the comments here. A scout is Courteous. Especially an Eagle. It may be that this scouts parents pushed hard and manipulated things to stoke their egos. I've seen it happen all to often in my decades as a Scouter. BUT it may be that this scout set himself a goal, and worked his butt off. I've seen that too. If you crunch the numbers it's possible to fulfill the time in PORs given that a boy becomes a scout at 10 and a half. That gives the scout 18 months until he turns 12. I don't think it's the wisest thing to do perhaps. But it's possible. The Count Eagle class of '75
I don’t agree with awarding the eagle rank to soon. He is only 11 and has a lot of scouting ahead of him. I had my eagle board of review after my 18th birthday. I spent time at each rank gaining maturity.
As a proud Eagle Scout... it is impossible for an 11 year old to become an Eagle Scout, as it takes a month to reach tenderfoot due to a fitness requirement (improve on certain fitness tests over the course of a month). He would have had to somehow make it straight to first class in his first week. But hears the kicker: to reach eagle requires active service in high leadership positions for minimum of a year and a half to two years, plus 21-22 required merit badges minimum (some which require months to complete), as well as a total of at least 51 or 52 merit badges. Then there’s the Eagle Scout Service project... you have to be 11 years old to join the Boy Scouts, have completed the fifth grade to join the Boy Scouts, or 10 years old with the Arrow of Light Award received in Cub Scouts.

One thing I dont understand, is the fact he has almost 50 merit badges on his sash, I made eagle at age 15 and finished scouts with only 30 badges, some of the badges require lotssss of work, there is no way this is legit
Nobody ever wants to diminish a Scouts achievements, those of us in scouting know how much work it is. But I don’t know how it is humanly possible for an 11 year old to get an Eagle Scout. To begin with, a child cannot become part of a troop unless they are either 11 years old or has completed fifth grade. So unless he skipped a grade or two, he would have become part of the troop at the bare minimum of about 10 1/2 years old. Once you become part of the troop, even if you do nothing else but scouting activities, it takes a minimum of two years to earn Eagle Scout. That is because many of the eagle required merit badges and rank advancement have time requirements. At both tenderfoot and first class ranks, you have to spend a month tracking fitness requirements and keeping a daily log, and you cannot use one month of activities for both ranks. You have to do two separate months. Some ranks require you to wait six months between acquiring one, and then the other. There are six ranks before Eagle you must earn and all of them have some sort of requirement that takes time to do. Eagle required camping merit badge requires you to go on several campouts. Did this kid live in the woods for four months? Hiking and biking require 50-mile trips each. An 11year old did that? We usually have them get a little older before doing those for safety sake. I’m not suggesting he fudged some of his requirements but honestly I don’t know how he learned any of them and internalized any of them. Eagle Scout is not a race to finish. It’s a journey. My son is 11 and has been part of a troop for 5 months and he’s proceeding at a steady pace but one that ensures he’s actually learning and absorbing the material. His scoutmaster told me not yo let him go too fast, to let him savor the journey. You have until 18 years old. There’s plenty of time. I actually feel bad for this kid, that his scouting experience was so rushed, and abbreviated for the sake of some goal he thought he had to reach before anyone else that he missed out on so much of the experiences he could have had.
Any Eagle Scout knows Swimming and Lifesaving are probably the hardest merit badges. We've all witnessed these kinds of kids get pushed through by parents signing up to "teach" merit badges... No honor in that.
He’s a fake Eagle Scout. As others have pointed out, you have to spend minimum times in leadership positions - the earliest you could legitimately earn it is around 13 and that would be a stretch.
Amen to those who realize this is a fake Eagle. My husband was District Advancement chairman for many years. He had a 13 year old approach him for an Eagle Board of Review. This caused him to do the math to see if there was enough time for this scout to meet the requirements -- at 13! Any Scout who is as young as this boy simply did this as a checklist and his adult leaders cut a bunch of corners. He is indeed a fake and cheapens this title for EVERYONE else who earned this rank.
It takes one month for Tenderfoot Requirement 6b One monthfor Second Class 7a One month for First Class 8a 4 months for Star 1 6 months for Life 1 6 monthes for eagle one Plus campouts and merit badges, leadership positions, eagle project, and service, this would take well over at least 3 (maby less if you just rushed and did not join the OA) , not 1.
Don't want to take away from his Eagle claim, but I was actually awarded my Eagle in the minimum time possible back in 1964. Wanted to beat my older brother who was also an Eagle. Two years exactly with the wait times, and 21 merit badges, if one does the math. They actually held my award for 5 days because I joined on my birthday May 5th. Maybe the timelines have shifted since then. Anyway, achieving the rank of Eagle is a great accomplishment for any young man, regardless of the amount of time that it takes to earn it. So congrats to all of you that walked the path and a special thanks to all of the adult men that took the time to help us along the way.
WhoButWBMason I guessed I got breezes thru at 13, only winning multiple eagle projects awards and scholarships for my project. My scoutmaster was very hesitant to sign off. My scoutmaster board of review was harder than the eagle board of review.
I'm with Matt Mirmak on this. I am an eagle scout at 16. It is physically impossible to do this, you have to be in certain ranks for a minimum of 6 months. And not to mention the long and hard Merit Badges you have to do.
I can’t even go through all these requirements but you are WRONG. 4 months for star = 10 years and 6 months. 6 months for life = 11 years. 6 months for Eagle = 11 years and 6 months. He got 5 months after the requirement
OK, so a few of the badges take place over a month maybe two I’m not that knowledgeable on all the merit badges, but I am sure that if he got 52 merit badges quite a few of those would require at least a month of time spent, but even not counting those Tenderfoot requires a month, star four months, life requires six months , and Eagle also requires six months so those alone together would be 17 months so doing all those and 52 merit badges within two years seems very impossible
Hmmm... I don't know how I feel about this. I just got eagle and I can't believe this boy got it in 1 year. If I'm correct, life and star rank each require 6 months of participation, and even after that you got merit badges like personal fitness that take quite some time. Oh well if he really did earn it, congratulations. However it kinda ruins the purpose of obtaining eagle which is about experience and not about who is the quickest.
I’m sorry how? Don’t you just join scouts when you turn 11? You need to have time in between each rank. There’s no way he actually had the time to earn the merit badges properly. A good scout master would not let this kid rank up this quick because they would want them to enjoy camp outs and opportunities as a learning scout. This just upsets me.
This is far from possible. First, you have to earn about 21 merit badges, including the 13 eagle-required ones. Then you have to spend four months as a star scout and six months as a life scout. I found out that his dad is a scoutmaster, and what I think really happened is that he just whipped right through the paperwork to get him to Eagle right away. Boy Scouts is about the journey. You have to get outside and experience the world around you. Racing through it all is absolutely not the way to do this.

I am an Eagle Scout. To all my fellow Eagle Scouts, I do believe our great institution is intact. I was worried for a moment that the Eagle Scout Award was granted without regard. In a society of instant gratification this is a valid concern. I'm not certain what has happened with this young man or perhaps Fox News. I can safely say that this gentleman's name is not in the National Eagle Scout Directory. It would appear that is story is a hoax.

Times have changed. In 1963, Richard Moser (Troop 440, Owings Mills, Maryland) became the youngest Eagle Scout at age 13. It required an Act of Congress (BSA is federally chartered, this was before "private acts" were banned by a change in the House Rules) for him to waiver one "oops" along the way, he had advanced from Tenderfoot to Second Class a few weeks less than required time in rank (he met the time in rank requirements for all other ranks).
Congratulations to the kid first of all. But, I don't feel as if he truly earned it right. You're supposed to be in Scouts for years. You need the experience. I earned my Eagle Scout award when I was 16. I completely loved it. But, it takes time. To all the fellow Eagle Scouts here, how do you feel about this? Do you remember all the great campouts? The bad ones? Do you remember your first summer camp? Remember when you chaffed and you had to walk like a cowboy? Remember when you finally earned your Totin Chip? These were all great experiences and memories. Remember how great you felt when you got the rank of First Class and you felt amazing? Or how about when you were voted to be a SPL? There was just so much in my 8 years of scouting that I wish I could repeat. And I feel as if this young man didn't experience it all. I mean, don't get me wrong. That's one heck of a title to have under your belt. But, it went way too fast for him. I also feel as if there was some things that was written down that shouldn't have. As I recall you had to be an active member for 6 months every time you promoted to the next rank. So, I'm not too sure what to say! Haha, does any of my fellow Eagle Scouts agree?
I earned Eagle Scout this past June the day after I turned 17. The youngest Eagle Scout in my troop I can remember was 15, and that was because his parents pushed him along the way in everything he did. Scouting is also much more enjoyable with the camping and teaching others the skills you learned. I was only an assistant Senior patrol leader to date, so I plan to run for the top position this fall when we have our elections. There is a 6 month wait, so something is up here.
I earned the eagle award at 13 in 2015, since then i have helped 3 other scouts earn there eagle award and have gone to philmont with some of my best friends and fellow eagles. He had 65 MBs on this? i don't see an 11 yearold mature, or actually earning something so difficult so young. Plus his dad is scoutmaster.... like seriously?
Absolutely, My apologies for breaking the 11th point of the Scout Law, but I call bullshit on this one. I earned my Eagle Scout rank at the age of 16. Just like you, I remember all of my experiences as they made me the person I am today. I remember being elected Patrol Leader for my 1985 Jamboree patrol. I remember surviving Hurricane Bob. I suspect it was a combination of parents and a Scout leader rushing him through the requirements. It's not one and done, nor sash and dash like I would call Scouts who would go through their OA ordeal just to get the sash and lodge flap. It's about the journey along the way. I guarantee you I would have never passed this kid on his Eagle board of review. Come back when you've notched more Scouting experiences under your belt.
I earned my Eagle when I was 15 and 7 months, this is not right. He has the badge and the paper but he sure DOES NOT have the true experience and the adults that let it happen should be ashamed of themselves.
That’s literally impossible. When you do the math, he earned it in a year when you need at the very minimum a year and 7 months. Even then, the odds of that are unlikely
He said he joined at 10 years and 2 months and became an Eagle Scout at 11 years 11 months. This means it took him a year and 9 months. The minimum time would be around a year and 7 months, due to the 16 months between first class and eagle and the 3 month personal fitness requirements between scout and first class. So it's possible
So let's do the math. He started at 10yrs and 2 months and completed at 11 yrs and 11 months. That is a total of 21 months. Star, Life and Eagle minimum time is 16 months. So this scout went through Scout, Tenderfoot, 2nd Class and 1st Class in a total of 3 months. An extremely active scout is usually 1st class after his 1st year of scoutting. After that it's 4 months for star, 6 months for life then 6 months for eagle. This scout went from Scout to 1st Class in 3 months. Looking at how this scout was advanced shows that this was not a "scout" led troop. More of dad's agenda.
Agreed; I'm not against young Eagles but I hope the Council really scrutinized his progress. No one can start merit badges without 1. being enrolled in a troop, 2. with scoutmaster approval first, 3. 3 Eagle badges are minimum 90 days for requirements. Either this kid is really a go-getter and mature and very good student with no other activities and did it all on his own or Dad the scoutmaster helped out a lot. That's against the whole notion of growing into leadership. How is a young almost 12 year old going to show leadership to 16-17 year old scouts? He basically started at end of 5th grade and finished before the end of 7th grade. I really think the whole notion of trying to be the youngest Eagle is ridiculous. On another note, it is possible if you're rushing through and if you have a really small troop. But in the end, what have you learned? Our troop is over 100 kids registered and it's hard going through the ranks even with so many people to work with on requirements and an active outdoor program. I hope he's still in his troop giving leadership to younger scouts now.
This is impossible. The requirements say you have to wait a certain amount of months to be able to get the next rank. I’m 13 and I’m a life scout and I was in Boy Scouts since I was 10. I have not been rushing through but I definitely haven’t been going slowly either. I’m not complaining I just think there was a way that he got around the rules of the Boy Scouts and I don’t know if he should have been able to get Eagle this fast.
Where are the years of senior leadership within the Troop that are required? As an Eagle scout I'm saddened by the mockery of the scouting program that his scout leaders allowed.
Technically this isn't legal according to BSA policies. The youngest you can join Scouts is 10 1/2 and he was 10 and two months when he joined. The only way he could join at 10 and two months is if he were to have already had completed the fifth grade (he would of had to skip a grade) or if his parents were really convincing.
fake eagle, just bc he did everything doesnt mean he understands what it truely means to be an eagle. he probably stopped showing up to meetings. i actually wanted to wait till i was 17 to get eagle so i could focus more on becoming a leader than someone with a badge
He’s in OA!? Not to mention this kid hasn’t even been on a high adventure before he’s never been to Philmont never been to Sea base never been to Northern tier I mean, if you haven’t at least been to one of those you probably shouldn’t even get an Eagle Scout badge. I understand if you can’t afford it but he definitely can but still can’t go because he’s 11 years old so
I thought I would explain how it was possible for him to become an Eagle even at his young age. One can join the Boy Scouts program if they are eleven OR completed fifth grade/completed arrow of the light. It takes a minimum of about a year and a half to complete all the rank requirements.
"Citizenship in the Nation was the hardest merit badge"....BOI ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I'm a scout, and that was one of the easier ones I would say. Underwater basketwieving was by far the hardest and the manliest.
4 months are required between First Class and Star, 6 months between Star and Life, and 6 months between Life and Eagle. That's 1 year and 4 months. If you started at age 11, you couldn't become an Eagle before you turned 12. At the time of this video (2015 - and he obviously earned it prior to then), the earliest you could become a Boy Scout would be 10 1/2 with the Arrow of Light. That would mean that he would have had to have finished with less than 2 months before turning 12. Considering both Personal Fitness and Personal Management each take 3 months to complete, he'd have to have started them really early. And I'm not sure what 'earns all badges' means to FOX, but there are over 130, and he has 60.
Why are so many people complaining about this great accomplishment? You can join Boy Scouts if you are 10 years old and finished 5th grade or have earned the Arrow of Light. He obviously did that. He was in the program for 21 months before getting his Eagle which is more than enough to fulfill the time in rank requirements. Every merit badge counselor has promised to ensure that the boys actually do the requirements pertaining to that merit badge. Don't you think the National Council would have rejected the application if there were errors, omissions, or other irregularities? I think we should take a step back and say "Good job!" If you think he was too young, then maybe BSA should make a requirement that the candidate must be at least 15 years old too.
I think an age requirement is stupid, a 13 or 14-year old who worked his butt off to get to Eagle should be able to earn it because he is probably more mature and more of a scout than a slacker who gets it at 17 and a half. PS, thanks for your service.
This whole thing is a fad between second class and first class there’s a three month wait period between first and star there’s another three month wait period and between star and life A six month waiting period +12 weeks of personal fitness and management 20 nights of camping with an additional eight merit badges this whole thing is baloney you can get it at the age of 12 that’s the minimum not 11
FOR EVERYONE ABOUT TO COMMENT: THIS SCOUT DID IN FACT COMPLETE EAGLE TIME REQUIREMENTS ADD UP TO ROUGHLY A YEAR AND HE WAS A SCOUT FOR A YEAR AND 9 MONTHS. He probably did merit badges throughout his time and he is the youngest Eagle Scout. HOWEVER this is not the scouting way, we don’t simply rush kids through to get Eagle. We encourage them to grow and learn and develop leadership. You learn from experiences in scouting and although he may be of a higher rank, that means nothing to us scouts. Experience counts for everything and I’d much rather have an 18 yr old tenderfoot than an 11 yr old Eagle Scout.
I’m not a Eagle Scout, but I was heavily involved with scouting, mostly order of the arrow was a big thing for me, but it’s not a adventure if you rush through your requirements, it’s a disgrace to see this
Does anyone not keep a copy of the guide to advancement handy anymore? It clearly lays out the guidelines. Good job to Kylan! Granted the leadership growth he could have achieved by spreading out his trail to Eagle may have been lessened strengthened, he is still in scouting as he is looking for his next goal to accomplish. Otherwise a 10 year old that was adequately prepared for the first four ranks could earn them very fast even with the time requirements of keeping physical fitness logs for tenderfoot, 2nd and 1st class (this would take just over 3 months to complete). He would have to have completed his fitness test immediately upon entering his troop then follow the 30 day log for tenderfoot and get it signed off and so on for 2nd class (4 weeks) and 1st class (at 4 weeks). Once first class is achieved he has his active participation requirements in the troop that others have mentioned for star, life and eagle. Within those time-frames he also has to get the merit badges finished where he would have had to do the longer period ones (family life, personal management, physical fitness that have 90 log requirements) started immediately. The main issue is leadership time and in a large troop which I fail to see how this was done without some form of adult influence (yes I know his father is the scoutmaster). He is a good public speaker so his statement could have been that good. I've seen it at troop elections before. If the troop was small, he very well could have gotten the right position of responsibility for each of his ranks rather easily instead of say 15 scouts vying for 8 positions of responsibility. After all of that is completed, he has his eagle award requirements. A scout with good resources whether it is their SM, merit badge counselor, advancement chair, or their parents is essential on helping keep any scout on track to earn Eagle when he feels he should. Kylan is dedicated no question there. My son's den together came up with a plan for their webelos program that beyond doing the rank requirements they wanted to go through the first year scout program as well. 4 of the 5 really worked it hard with the support of 4 den leaders and myself as Cubmaster. We signed things off per the Guide but also went through the motions on how they needed to learn, demonstrate, and show the skill or explain an aspect of some requirement (they had to visit different den leaders for things). Most of the boys were 10 1/2 when they joined their respective troops. 4 received scout in a month, and 1 received tenderfoot 2 months later and another 2 earned Tenderfoot in 4 months. What they got in cub scouts and I can assume Kylan got was an understanding of having to approach the SM, ASM, or a 1st class or above scout to go over requirements to show completion. Knowing that makes a huge difference. It also helps to be at an established troop that has strong leaders on the program and committee side (Its allowed me to just be a merit badge counselor and LNT trainer-and it is so wonderful to let him do everything on his own) . The other parts with gaining the leadership and being recognized as being a scout capable of leadership does take time and is something the scout must earn by being active in his patrol and troop. My son has already pushed back his goal of reaching Eagle by a year (He wanted it at 14) simply because he is getting into the leadership opportunities in staffing council activities, volunteering for service projects, and helping out in the troop. This also takes into account he has most of the longer time requirements badges completed (he has 4 Eagle merit badges left to earn). He is waiting til he is 13 to do NYLT and he stated he can't be Eagle til he completes that training and completes the goals he sets for himself there. He is also determined to get into the OA which he said at that point it'll take him longer to do Eagle because he will want to offer service to his lodge. So his original goal of 14 may not happen but it still could if he decides to because he was and is focused on getting those requirements checked off and doing that the right way. Whether the adults fast tracked the process for this scout we probably won't know but he did it and got what he wanted out of the program.
Revoke the award!! The Scout Master who signed off on this should be removed. Let's say he met all the requirements and not discuss the technical problems with this. It's diminishes the value of the award, the opposite of the intent. There is no way a boy can develop the qualities and experience the Eagle award represents in a year. Whoever signed off on this at headquarters should be fired. What's next an 'online' option to become and Eagle? In my troop nobody, not even the scout masters grandsons were allowed to attain the rank before 16, it was an unwritten rule. Then, if you did get it at 16 you were expected to get some feathers.
It isn't possible to make eagle in the course of a year! There are time requirements for a star, life, and eagle that take up a whole year and a half to do! And the camping requirements, he would've lost all the weekends of his 10 year old life! ALSO, there are merit badges that take months to finish, so unless he cut corners and forged signatures, this kid lied about it! FINALLY, YOU CAN'T EVEN START BOY SCOUTS UNTIL YOU ARE ALMOST DONE WITH FIFTH GRADE!!!
No one said he did do it in a year. Consider: He starts scouting on 10th birthday, spends 23 months fulfilling requirements. You're almost 12, but technically, legally 11. Also, you can start work on MB requirements BEFORE you start scouting and time-in-grade ranks only add up to 17 months. 10 years old + 17 months= 11 years and 7 months old. The math doesn't contradict. You just need to read the fine print.
This was not made clear to me. Some of our WEbelos were working on swimming before bridging over. Maybe he could have done it with the minimum number of badges. Unless he is homeschooled, this is almost impossible.
Coming from a 17-year-old Life Scout who is a project and two (mostly completed) merit badges away from Eagle, I'm sorry, but there is absolutely no-fucking-way this kid achieved Eagle Scout 19 months after entering Boy Scouts. I'm sorry. There had to be some sort of adult influence that helped him breeze through requirements that would otherwise have kept him waiting longer. Far as I'm concerned, each requirement met (for both merit badges and ranks) should be 100% legitimate. So... No matter what it says on paper, I'm quite certain you're not a real Eagle Scout. 🤷
He said Citizenship in the Nation was the hardest badge. What about Cooking, or Personal Fitness, or Personal Management or Family Life? Those took 3 months each and require lots of parental help.
Let’s do some quick math kids! Scout Rank quickest possible 1 day Tenderfoot rank quickest possible 30 days Second class rank quickest possible 30 days First class quickest possible 2 months Star rank quickest possible assuming you have ALL MERIT badges finished *nearly impossible 4 months Life rank quickest possible assuming you have ALL MERIT badges finished *nearly impossible 6 months Eagle Scout rank quickest possible assuming you have ALL MERIT badges finished *nearly impossible 6 months Final total 20.013 months or 1.67 years so assuming he joined at 10 still possible people!
Citizenship in the nation is apparently the hardest EVEN THOUGH YOU LEARN THE CONSTITUTION BY FIFTH GRADE. Plus, there are waaaaay more harder merit badges than THAT. *cough* SWIMMING *cough*
For all the people saying this is "technically" impossible you are wrong! It is entirely possible to get all of the service hours, time in rank, and badges within 1.5 years and the requirements pre-2015 were even easier than today. My troop didn't have enough camping to advance too far in the first year but some troops do. Now, I don't believe you should be able to earn Eagle that fast because certain experiences only come with time. You could learn all the first aid the BSA teaches in a day. But how well will it be applied? I can't remember which one is the motto or slogan half the time and I certainly can't remember the Outdoor Code but experience means I can apply them. First Aid isn't something you can just know what to say so I think anyone under 13(all ages probably) should have to prove they can apply the skills they learn.
This is bullshit to the extreme. You have to have 6 months of experience for each rank. There are 7 ranks. That’s 42 months of experience and it usually takes longer than that with breaks and such. He also can’t even form the scout sign correctly with a 90 degree angle arm. This story is 100% fake.
no way this kid got it, there are waiting periods between Star, Life, and Eagle, which are 4, 6, and 6 months. so you need to be in scouting for at least 18+ months to get Eagle, so if you join at 10 and a half, you can be earning it as young as 12, personally I got it young at 14 years and 2 months.
This is 100% possible, you just have to set it up right. It is true that you cannot join scouts until you are 11, but if you are a Webelow scout and you earn your arrow of light (the highest Cub scout rank), you can join a scout troop as soon as you turn 10. As soon as you join, you have exactly 8 months to bum rush to first class rank. Why? Let's do the math Ranks scout, tenderfoot, second class, and first class have no time requirements. Once you are a first class scout, you must remain one for at least 4 months before you can earn the next rank of star. Once you are star, you must remain one for at least 6 months before you can become life. And finally, you must remain life 6 months before you can become eagle. So that's the math. 6 + 6 + 4 = 16. 24 months is the time you have before you turn 12, so 24 - 16 = 8. Now, it does take a lot of paperwork to advance that fast, and I am 100% sure that his parents and scoutmaster played a massive part in his accelerated advancement. Now, should we be concerned about that? Personally, I have never seen an eagle scout that quit scouting before 18, so as long as this kid stays in his troop, which I'm sure he will, his growth will be just fine, so there is no need to bash the poor kid for getting his eagle at Jimmy John's speed. Personally, I am glad I took my time with rank advancement. There is so much more to scouts than just merit badge trivia and knots. If all you worry about is ranks, you could miss out on the other amazing things scouts has to offer. But that's just my two cents.
FACT CHECK: A scout may join when he has: Reached 11 years of age OR Achieved the Arrow Of Light and be 10 years of age OR Have finished 5th grade If he skipped a year of preschool or kindergarten, then he would be eligible to join at the age of 10 (assuming he had the Arrow Of Light). To achieve the Star rank, a scout must be a First Class for four months. To achieve the Life rank, a scout must be a Star for six months. To achieve the Eagle rank, a scout must be a Life for six months. Since according to him, he went from Scout -> Eagle in 19 months, he would have to have gone from Scout rank to First Class in a period of 3 months. This is plausible.
Mailing the representatives and the senators will be the easy part for me because I am truly obsessed with politics. A scout working on his Eagle rank said that the personal management and family life merit badges are the hardest to get.
It is too young IMO, however, it is possible. You can join Scouts if you have completed the 5th grade or completed your arrow of light and are 10 years old, he says he joined at 10 and earned his Eagle at 11 and 10 months, so he was an active Scout for about 20-22 months. He could have earned his first class in a couple short months if he was really at it and went to some summer camps, etc., after first class he would only need 16 months to earn Eagle if he was really at it. Time wise it was possible.
I call bullshit on this. I earned my Eagle Scout at 16 and I'm guessing it's parents and a Scout leader rushing him through the requirements. The Trail to Eagle is supposed to be a journey, not a race.
Matt Mirmak so true... You wanna help me finish mine?
Bad scout behavior follow the oath and law, you should be proud!
He cheated you have to be 11 or completed 5th grade to join!
I also call be and I got my eagle in December and I'm 15. I'm staying in till I'm 18. Might even become an adult leader but I doubt it.
This isnt possible because it takes a couple months for scout, tenderfoot, 2nd class, and 1st class, that's about 6 months, then star scout, which is 6 months, then life scout, which is 6 months, so he'd be basically 12 for life, then its 6 months for eagle? So if I'm right he'd be 13
Purpose of scouting: character development, it's about the experience not the race
Matt W exactly
Matt W well said
True but also it’s not possible because of the amount or time you must be active in the troop between ranks
@bird of the abyss Journey, not a race.
Plain and simple.
same about cit in nation
Same I think life saving is the hardest (it was really hard for me)
I did nation and world when I first joined the bsa 3 years ago and for some reason I remember world being harder
Also did community
I thought the same thing
The fact you're defending this kid is sad.
YOU read the Oath and Law.
"It's our duty" to recognize this isn't right.
That would be my first worry with an organization that has had as much molestation as acouts has had.
When he said citizenship in the nation was the hardest I lost it because that one was so easy
Exactly I got it in 1 month
he is 11
citizenship in the community is harder than nation tbh
@@user-gu1ed1kb8x exactly, I'm still working on that one.
@@user-gu1ed1kb8x yeah that one took me a while.
I call STOLEN VALOR. This is clearly impossible if done honestly.
Ok, like 14/15 is totally fine, but 11 is not good
Agreed
Dermot Berg agreed!
thats when i should be getting there
it's literally impossible.
Citizenship in the nation is so easy why did he say it was the hardest? Citizenship in the community is so much harder.
Personal Fitness, Family Life, Personal Management are very time consuming. Citizenship in the Community is pretty easy.
Life saving is pretty hard
I also had trouble with cit in the community ngl.
THE TIME RESTRICTIONS DON'T EVEN ALLOW THIS.
They do, he had 21 months in scouting and technically he only needs 17 months
@@JooFoos don’t you need 4-6 months in before you get the next rank?
Do the math yes he did
This would mean he completed 3 merit badges per month on average including his rank badges. Yet, each rank requires time in as an active scout in your troop.
@@bkproductions3569 nearly impossible but it’s possible
Fraud their 6 month waiting periods for at least 2 ranks.
Star and life, and you need to be 11 to join I believe if I remember correctly
@@nickniehaus1763 10 years old and completed the 5th grade.
His parents probably did all of his work in a troop with only one patrol and in some remote council.
I am an Eagle Scout, 1995. There is no way this kid made Eagle at 11 years old.
The Count
Eagle class of '75
Citizenship in the nation wasn't even that hard of a merit badge...
Not possible. No way he could get all 7 ranks and 21 merit badges in a year.
Oh no no no he didn’t earn 21 badges by age 11 he earned 52 badges by age 11 apparently so that’s just literally impossible
@@nomadkeller8612 ridiculous honestly. Bunch of paper scouts nowadays
One thing I dont understand, is the fact he has almost 50 merit badges on his sash, I made eagle at age 15 and finished scouts with only 30 badges, some of the badges require lotssss of work, there is no way this is legit
It’s fake but the merit badges are possible
i have 2 sashes and about 100 merit badges. got them done before i was 15. i'm working on eagle and getting those last few badges done.
Ok, fake news
I am more interested in what he did the rest of his time in Scouting.
I was an adult leader for 20 years. This is total BS.
It takes one month for Tenderfoot Requirement 6b
One monthfor Second Class 7a
One month for First Class 8a
4 months for Star 1
6 months for Life 1
6 monthes for eagle one
Plus campouts and merit badges, leadership positions, eagle
project, and service, this would take well over at least 3 (maby less if you just rushed and did not join the OA) , not 1.
Random Crap Weekly I personally find OA to be a waste of time. In Indiana we have firecrafter, a much more meaningful side achievement.
I was chosen to go to OA for 3 straight years and was never able to go. I missed nothing.
Is this Pre-2015 Requirements though?
He didn't do this right. You have to wait I between ranks. Cheater
Not all ranks. It's mathematically possible.
The youngest I have heard is 14, but 13 is possible.
Bro if this guy was off by a MONTH the time requirements wouldn’t allow him to get it at 11
Don't want to take away from his Eagle claim, but I was actually awarded my Eagle in the minimum time possible back in 1964.
Yep, he got breezed through
he didn't breezed through, breezing through is getting your eagle at 14, he cheated
WhoButWBMason I guessed I got breezes thru at 13, only winning multiple eagle projects awards and scholarships for my project. My scoutmaster was very hesitant to sign off. My scoutmaster board of review was harder than the eagle board of review.
That's really cool. What was your project?
the eagle scout rank is an honor not just a title. this kid clearly got eased through his journey to eagle.
I'm with Matt Mirmak on this. I am an eagle scout at 16. It is physically impossible to do this, you have to be in certain ranks for a minimum of 6 months. And not to mention the long and hard Merit Badges you have to do.
Oh my god. He TOTALLY did all those merit badges in one YEAR. And the bowline knot was one of the knots i learned
Here I am 13 and tenderfoot
I just got 2nd class
just keep going, not to brag but I'm 14 and 2 months and I just pased my Eagle Board
he didn’t get it fairly
Eagle Scout is mostly 16+
I'm Star
This is fake, in Star and Life there are requirements like community service, and be an active scout for at least 4-6 months
You need to be those ranks for at least six months each? How long does it take for most people to get eagle?
@@Hellhound_Luz It depends, Only 5% make it to eagle. 15-17 in my council is average.
Code 7000 I think it's 2% make eagle, actually
I’m sorry how? Don’t you just join scouts when you turn 11? You need to have time in between each rank. There’s no way he actually had the time to earn the merit badges properly. A good scout master would not let this kid rank up this quick because they would want them to enjoy camp outs and opportunities as a learning scout. This just upsets me.
I’m actually surprised FOX would even do this??!!!
I EARNED MY EAGLE SCOUT
How old were you when you got it?
This is far from possible. First, you have to earn about 21 merit badges, including the 13 eagle-required ones. Then you have to spend four months as a star scout and six months as a life scout. I found out that his dad is a scoutmaster, and what I think really happened is that he just whipped right through the paperwork to get him to Eagle right away. Boy Scouts is about the journey. You have to get outside and experience the world around you. Racing through it all is absolutely not the way to do this.

For some requirements for ranks, you have to be a pacific rank and hold a leadership position for at least 6 months, so idk how this is possible.

It required an Act of Congress (BSA is federally chartered, this was before "private acts" were banned by a change in the House Rules) for him to waiver one "oops" along the way, he had advanced from Tenderfoot to Second Class a few weeks less than required time in rank (he met the time in rank requirements for all other ranks).
someone got some connected parents
Corey McCarthy you wanna make it 4 other scouts? :)
I earned my Eagle when I was 15 and 7 months, this is not right. He has the badge and the paper but he sure DOES NOT have the true experience and the adults that let it happen should be ashamed of themselves.
As an Eagle scout I'm saddened by the mockery of the scouting program that his
scout leaders allowed.
5/14/19 Went through the board now I'm an Eagle Scout from here on out. There's no such thing as an ex-Eagle Scout
BE PREPARED correct
Hate to burst your bubble, but BSA can and has revoked the title of eagle from scouts. This of course is rare and you would have to do something bad
I'm surprised this kid is in the OA
He’s in OA!? Not to mention this kid hasn’t even been on a high adventure before he’s never been to Philmont never been to Sea base never been to Northern tier I mean, if you haven’t at least been to one of those you probably shouldn’t even get an Eagle Scout badge. I understand if you can’t afford it but he definitely can but still can’t go because he’s 11 years old so
This, in the Scout business, is what we call a no paper Eagle.
What about the requirement for being active 6 months between star life and eagle ranks?
This whole thing is a fad between second class and first class there’s a three month wait period between first and star there’s another three month wait period and between star and life A six month waiting period +12 weeks of personal fitness and management 20 nights of camping with an additional eight merit badges this whole thing is baloney you can get it at the age of 12 that’s the minimum not 11
Who approve this by the way what is his district who are his eagle representatives because I personally think the troop put a couple strings
FOR EVERYONE ABOUT TO COMMENT:
THIS SCOUT DID IN FACT COMPLETE EAGLE
TIME REQUIREMENTS ADD UP TO ROUGHLY A YEAR AND HE WAS A SCOUT FOR A YEAR AND 9 MONTHS.
Walker Farnsworth yea I get it, but some kids have no real life outside of scouting, he probably spent A LOT of his time in scouting.
This man said citizenships in the nation was the hardest I finished that at camp
this kid probs didn’t do anything else with his life except scouting lmaoo
It's not a race but hopefully he will stay in the troop to help with the other scouts
At 11, he's not qualified to help other scouts. He doesn't know enough about scouting.
Yeah, he definitely hasn’t been to NYLT either
No way...wrong
This kid received the rank of Eagle Scout. I earned it. That’s the difference.
The road to Eagle should be a journey rather than a grind. But an Eagle is an Eagle and if he passed the Board of Review, he earned it.
Not possible as per the actual requirements. Nope.
Bruh I’m mad at myself for skipping a lot of meetings when I was 10 :/
He's liar
Not even possible
There's a reason it's on fox
Bro the citizenship in the nation merit badge was probably my top 3 easiest eagle required merit badge
He didnt do it right lmao he probably had their parent show them a know he did it right back and signed off lmao no actual knowledge
Yup
You have to be in the troop for at the absolute very least 16 months. This is bullcrap
He said Citizenship in the Nation was the hardest badge. What about Cooking, or Personal Fitness, or Personal Management or Family Life? Those took 3 months each and require lots of parental help.
Let’s do some quick math kids!
Scout Rank quickest possible 1 day
Tenderfoot rank quickest possible 30 days
Second class rank quickest possible 30 days
First class quickest possible 2 months
Star rank quickest possible assuming you have ALL MERIT badges finished *nearly impossible 4 months
Life rank quickest possible assuming you have ALL MERIT badges finished *nearly impossible 6 months
Eagle Scout rank quickest possible assuming you have ALL MERIT badges finished *nearly impossible 6 months
Final total 20.013 months or 1.67 years so assuming he joined at 10 still possible people!
That’s literally impossible. There are time limits between ranks that make this literally impossible.
Anyone wanna give me advice or help for the last few merit badges i have left?
no way this kid got it, there are waiting periods between Star, Life, and Eagle, which are 4, 6, and 6 months. so you need to be in scouting for at least 18+ months to get Eagle, so if you join at 10 and a half, you can be earning it as young as 12, personally I got it young at 14 years and 2 months.
Why? Let's do the math
Ranks scout, tenderfoot, second class, and first class have no time requirements.
FACT CHECK:
A scout may join when he has:
Reached 11 years of age OR
Achieved the Arrow Of Light and be 10 years of age OR
Have finished 5th grade
If he skipped a year of preschool or kindergarten, then he would be eligible to join at the age of 10 (assuming he had the Arrow Of Light).
Also, I doubt he would know how to save someone's life or anything like that.
He’s a disgrace to the organization, this is not what it means to be an Eagle Scout, it’s about the journey not the finish line
No way. Received mine at 12 years 11 months in 1968 and I was on a strict schedule.
The numbers dont work.
This kid is a liar I am in scouts and the requriments prevent this.
He is
I'm a Scoutmaster and this is completely possible if you work hard enough to get it.
