- Trying to decide between the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650? Oh that's easy. First, they're the same bike. Like ditto. Same engine, same gearbox... it's all exactly the same. So no major decision to be made on that front. Second, they're wildly different in how you sit... which makes a massive difference on how easy or hard it is to ride in the city, out on the highway and up the twists. If you want it easy, the Interceptor will feel better. If you don't mind the harder challenge, the Continental GT looks more like a proper retro-classic. Third, if you're on a budget, the Interceptor is slightly less expensive to buy.

Having this bike will not make you happier. Maybe for a month or 2 but after that burden kicks in. Speaking from experience of owning the 2023 650

Totally agree. the continental is not for everyone cuz i felt it to be very challenging although i love the looks of it but its not for me. Not sure if id get used to it but never got a chance to use it for long time either.
Yeah, that's why I opted for interceptor
It took about a month, when you get pass the awkwardness of handling a very heavy bike for it's type and driving position, it get's lovely, the way you sit also shifts when getting used to it, you have to try scooping further back or closer to the tank in several rides to find what suits you best. It's a lovely challenge.
I don't have any trouble with the seating position or comfort of my GT. I ride 70 miles a day to Paddington and back to just the other side of Brands Hatch where I live. It's perfect in London and can be quite racy if you want it to be. So far I'm just coming up to 7000 miles on it and have just ridden throughout a very wet winter with no trouble. I've been impressed with the quality of the finish and it's a Mr Clean which apparently it notoriously hard to keep clean 🤷♂️! I've owned an R6, a Honda 900 Hornet, Kawasaki 750 Zephyr, a Honda CB750, Kawasaki GT550 and done 100s of thousands of miles on them over 3 decades. By comparison my Continental GT is by far one of the best bikes I've ridden in London, even compared to the old Kwacker GT550 ex courier bike I owned!
That's smashing mate. You got long stretches to ride your bike but in India you can imagine choosing a committed rider posture bike isn't very clever for the traffic and roads we got here.
Indian roads are like offroads, litmus test for bike manufactures.
GT has iconic design.
Interceptor is a more period correct iconic design. Gt never had a twin back then.
GT has its own fan base, my tip- install an aftermarket front fairing like mv superveloce😊

I own a GT650, I do feel there is a slight difference in the way throttle response and power deliveries between the two. GT has linear softer delivery and Interceptor feels little throatier and crispier.

GT owner here. My best friend has an Int. I feel exactly the same. The GT has a sharper, more immediate throttle and it's less snatchy in its delivery.
Man I already bought my motorcycle in 2022 (MT-01, the 1000cc one) and don't plan on buying another one, but your videos are just so interesting to watch. Your voice is great too :)

If you want to feel like you're riding gt while also being comfortable consider installing mk drag handle bars. Comfy yet aggressive at the same time.
Simple as that. Get an interceptor & u can get the clip ons/ rear set foot pegs & fuel tank anytime from the used market & change the interceptor to a GT. So nothing to get confused. I had the ravishing red and now he is British battle green GT.
hell yeah. i want that cafe racer thing. ps: its gonna be my 3rd bike i own a pulsar 220 (2012) and a yamaha R15 the og one (2012), got both bikes when i was in school. Started driving a Gen 4 Honda City for work, drove it for 4 years and now i have re descovered my love for bikes since i fixed both my bikes and went on a long road trip to kashmir and himachal. I want a GT 650 now. gonna get it soon
GT650 is more uncomfortable than the R15.
In terms of design and power I would go for GT but in terms of riding portion and comfort I would choose Interceptor anyday .
I believe both comes with exactly the same engine. Then how is there any power difference?

If you prefer riding over body pains (particularly the back) u should definitely go for continental gt 650
Continental GT in my opinion is like a toy, a really expensive one at that.
I don’t think people get that cafe racers are really not for everyone.
While the GT looks way cooler than the Intercep, that riding posture is going to give you instant regret.
If it’s just about having a super cool looking bike, go for the GT, which makes it an expensive toy as i said earlier
It depends, I have done 700km in a day on GT with minor pain in neck, thats about it. Very enjoyable bike.
NOTE: some think that Interceptor and Continental GT are totally two different bikes actually they are exactly the same motorcycles other than their riding position and design, the rest engine chassis and instrument cluster are all the same, so keep in mind if you want a cafe racer bike go for the Continental GT and if you want an all-rounder bike just go for the Interceptor.
-> The Interceptor was found between the 1960s and 1970s as a California beach lifestyle vehicle known as Interceptor 700 with a 692 cc vertical twin engine for cruising purposes and the Continental GT was found in 1965 as a neo-retro cafe racer motorcycle with a 250 cc engine for the purpose of lightweight bike for racing from one cafe to another cafe in the UK and was first found to participate in racing competitions.
Both are great looking motorcycles..👑but for my Height 6ft I will choose the interseptor for upright comfortable position.. better for future ❤
I have to buy one soon and I am so confused between these two. I like the look of GT slightly better but I don’t want to feel uncomfortable in long rides thats is unclear in small teat rides. My daily routine is 3 km to office and maybe 1 long 100-150 km ride in a month.
You can get used to either @aidpool but if you want to prioritize comfort, Interceptor is definitely more comfortable. For looks, it seems to be the other way around.

The difference wasn't as much for me and at 6'2", Interceptor felt a bit uncomfrable on my legs
Continental on the other hand being sportier supports my frame better
so waiting for the continental gt now
it is hard to get across a comfortable car or bike in India for my size, being tall and well built.
While a bigger motorcycle is what my inner child wants but bikes lose their practical aspect after where interceptor stands.
I think bikes should have strong feelings. Interceptor is comfortable than Conti.
That's why I would ignore it and buy Continental 😂

Continental GT was just a shy away from being a parallel twin sports bike instead it become this. i dont get it, the looks the thin slice of a seat. just one thing gets me is the exhaust silencers, they go wide and black ones are cool to look at.

Please dont buy these motorcycles. I have sold mine. Not at all comfortable for riding. The engine is punchy but there is a constant feel that if someone or something comes on the way, I would not be able to stop it because the break are not great, there is a risk of slipping and the weight is just too much!
