Being an old yugioh player playing digimon now, I miss being able to go to regionals to get my invite or play fun side events. Those were fun weekends with friends and I wish Bandai would step up and get more in person regionals.
I don't play competitive but I definitely wouldn't want to buy a plane ticket to go play digimon when the 2 potential outcomes are: Get rolled by an uninteractive high roll deck Win a playmat that someone will eventually remake and sell on ebay for 20$
Idk why it gives me vibes that Bandai just had these random mats sitting in a warehouse and just said "hey, we can use these mats that didn't sell over here, throw a stamp on them, and nobody will be the wiser" Also worth noting that that someone in the comments mentioned that the playmats, at least the Hybrid one, is the old small size as well? Just sucks dude
We had 3 rounds of store regionals. 22 64-man (Top 4 get invites) and 8 32-man (Top 2 get invites). For actual Regionals, we had March-November where we averaged 2 per month, plus the Bandai Card Game Fest. So 19 full regionals with Top-16 invites. So that’s 88+16+304. So 408 total invites when it’s all said and done.
Discussion on the bad tournament cycle is totally valid. But spending time on the prize support that **in your opinion** is ugly is literally pointless and doesn't matter. Let's work on getting more events and just a better tournament cycle overall before we start complaining about "I don't like this playmat" bc the prettiness of playmats and other prize support objectively doesn't matter. More tournaments does. nb4 I'm in the comments video for some kind of bad take... I think first discussing subjectively ugly prize support and spending several minutes on it is a horrible take.
I see this growing distain for the gameplay recently. I think people are slowly realizing that the game has gone WAY downhill this year ever sense BT14. Sure we had a few good formats but the game has devolved into something highly un-interactive. But this nationals prizing could have been better. Digimon has a lot to prove when it comes to fixing itself otherwise unification might do more harm than good.
for entrants, kets be honest alot of players trying to drive there are hit with a bad detour tht adds more drive time to get there since the hurricane. flying only those tht can pay to fly along with holidays just happening so. theres alot playing into entrants for nats this year so
digimon is not as bad of a place compared to so many other ips and games. There this gacha game were the devs listen to there players but there is times were they deliberately choose to either do the opposite or the worst outcome pissing off there fan/player base to the point were players lower scored and stop playing and spending money forcing the devs revert the change plus giving compensation. Then we have Disney they interact with the fans but they ruin the ips. Bandai might do nothing but does not stop players from making a ban list and tournament in local shops. As for the mats lets all be honest the unofficial mats usually are better looking or better material.
Mandatory 9th round is garbage. One more round for you to pair into Take and have it ruin your run. But thats OK because it just means you suck if you didnt make top 16. If this game had side decking or idk, less decks that played solitaire I too would be more harsh about players barely scratching out from top 16. Reality is, you have mirage, Take, RH, etc, all these decks that have zero player input running around. So to say someone sucks because they lost to a turn 2 otk that had 0 interaction, idk mate. Game's competitive integrity has been in the dumpster.
If you're a fan of Frontier, that mat of all the Legendary Warriors is pretty sweet. I'll wait for the Chinese knockoff of it. I agree that gameplay is "poop" right now among the Tier 1 decks. We really need at least a dozen more restrictions to make gameplay, deck building, and buying new sets worthwhile again.

The prizes are much more than a game mat,and the first 3 places get also rewarded with a plane ticket and hotel to stay(America ,Asia, Europe ...

Mario have you ever considered doing a tournament on your stream playing like a goat format digimon since this recent format sucks?
I am also sad that they can't do store regionals weekly instead of just a few in each country
im the type whos excited and going no matter what with my invite, but yeah alot of this is lackluster

The playmats are always trash and/or just copy/paste card arts. I think the magnamon mat is fine

Digimon taking Ls what else is new
Ok. Give me 3 Digimon that you'd prefer on the champion playmat. It can be your favorites, it can be something else. I'm just trying to see something.
This game is for the streets.
What the game needs is rotation.
