i think there are two kinds of matched pairs, 1. Level and 2. frequency respond, usually only level will be match, some are also match the frequency responds but this is not usual

In my circle, when called matched it means both level and frequencies... But hey, they are never a perfect match.. ;)

@@MarcoPrimeau ...yes would be nice!...i bought matched pair from Brauner, Advanced Audio and other high class microphone companies and they all where only Level matched )-: , sound was quite different

There is no way for a matched pair of mics to null above 5 khz. It's physically impossible because the wavelength at 5 khz is about 6cm, almost twice as much as the difference between the center of the two SDCs. two bodies cannot occupy the same space, so this test is kinda pointless. To consider one pair matched, you need to do measurements in the exact position within an anechoic chamber to see if the overall gain, thd and frequency response differs and how much it differs (the tolerance varies from brand to brand).
