I'm 60 years old. I love this song. I remember when it first came out. The lead singer is an amazing vocalist. Great song. Always good memories. Thank you Chilliwack.
This is absolutlely 100% fact. I'd just found this song a couple months ago. Put it on based on a friendly recommendation. I'm listening to the song, kind of liking it, kind of thinking it's a standard early 80s rock fare ... and then, the magic. That moment at 2:45. We all know it. We all love it. We all need it. Gives me chills everytime, especially, when that big guitar chord comes in!
I stumbled across one of my 80s mix tapes a few years ago, and this was on it. I had forgotten all about it, but since then I've listened many times. Making a point to not forget it again. This is such a gem!
I discovered MTV when I landed at Hurlburt air force base in Florida 1983/84 after being stationed in Europe about 6 years. Wow, way B4 internet Just saying 😊😂Keep on Rocking 💥🔥👍
A question, Harry, from someone who doesn't have all their albums, and has only maybe heard one or two other Chilliwack songs besides this. Short of tracking every album myself, can you point me to ANY of their other songs that has anywhere close to the dynamism and unique structure and sound production as this incredible sonic outlier? Thanks!
While the video does come at you as "dated" lol (but still good and cute!), the song itself does not seem that way, IMHO. There aren't big telltale signs you're entering the fantastic musical realm of the 70's/80's like wah wahs, Hammond B3's w/Lesley (sp), or the overuse of the (then) "new" synthesizers. Bravo Chilliwack!👍You kept the train on the tracks ... and going fast! Besides that, the song is just an incredibly good example of what can happen when great writing, super production and excellent and I mean exceptional musicianship and vocals come together in a perfect storm of talent that it seems is pretty hard to match even to the present day. Loved the band, and I love this song. Still. To this day! Rock and roll Chilliwack!Rock on!😎
I was just going into the United States Marines when I first heard this. My girl really did leave me! I still love her! Her name was Treena. I have loved others since her including my sweet wife who died of cancer 10 years ago. I still love this song!!!!! I was so strong and healthy back then!!! I still love life!!!! And I still love this song!!!!!!!!
Thank 4 info, I really like this song ! I wonder why I never heard it on AFN; American forces network radio 📻 when I was on my 2nd overseas tour of duty in 3:50 Europe 1977- 84 I feel cheated 😁 Peace ✌️ 😊
Greatest song ever put on tape!!! The harmonies put these boys on the map. It is an injustice that they did chart not higher. I am American and I love these Canadians.
I long assumed this was one of these Can-Con classics that wasn't known outside of the Great White North, eh, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out it reached #22 on the Billboard chart. "I Believe" made the US top 40 as well. ("Watcha Gonna Do" just missed, stalling at #41.) Maybe you Americans have better taste than I thought.
@@HigherLove70 I really appreciate that. A lot of old Canadian music videos from the 70's and 80's are being lost or just exist in really poor resolution. Either the current rights-holders just don't care, or I don't know. I was chatting with the lead singer of a well known Canadian 80's band and they shot and produced a video back in the day and they're not sure if the master videotape of it was lost or destroyed but it's lost forever. Kinda sad that no one from the labels are stepping up.

To the best of my knowledge, the only Newfoundlander to ever appear on a Billboard Top 40 single. (Yeah, he was born in Halifax, but we consider him one of ours.)
I wonder if there is a person or person from Chilliwack who has never heard a song from this band. Also, if someone from Boston has never heard a Boston song. Same with Styx.
Just another example of what made the 80s the BEST decade EVER for music. This is the time machine, who's riding with me ? Let's go!
I sang with Bill Henderson and Chilliwack in the Middle East Christmas show tour for the Canadian Army 1987 !! They were amazing! Love the song !!
Levy, Moranis and Candy did the ultimate version.
the recess monkeys
They played their instruments too!
That I would love to see.
The Recess Monkeys!

These guys should have been a lot bigger here in the US. I remember when this song came out like it was yesterday!!!!
@2:45 quite possibly the best bridge and harmony in Canadian Rock …. What a great tune to bring on the eighties 👍

Wow.. its been well over 40yrs since I've heard this song.
Discovered this song on Sirius Yacht Rock and then discovered the band from there!
It's borderline yacht rock (Chilliwack rocked harder than, say, Christopher Cross) but I'll allow it.
That's where I first heard it too 😂
Heard it there last night.
Takes us back to early 80's

I've heard hundreds of acts doing this masterpiece but there's only that masters it.
Good late night driving tune! Has it really been 40 years since this song came out? Good memories!

Still a great song from this Canadian Band 40+ years now. Saw them perform live back in 2018 in Kitchener-Waterloo!

These might be the worst lyrics I've ever heard. Good song, though; talented group.
I didn't think anything could be as stupid as the band name until i heard the song.
The band named is after the city of Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. Do you have a similar problem with Boston, Toronto, Kansas or Asia?
@ganarlyfilms1056 i like boston and kansas and asia but who are toronto
I voiced my opinion.i don't care if you disagree.
@@paulbradley705 It's okay - you're apparently not Canadian if you don't know who Toronto is.
