Would you consider "You can call me Al" by Paul Simon yacht rock? It was 86....but it gives me the yacht rock day drinking vibes haha....I love the music video with Chevy Chase too 😂
Wow, I had hoped to never hear any of these songs ever again. They are even worse than I remember! But I watched the entire video so I deserve what I got! :)
I don't know if I'm too young or what, but ALL of those songs are just "pop/rock songs from the the 70's" to me. I didn't know there was a separate genre for them... The only one out of those that I even know is "Escape" so that's my favorite by default. I primarily listen to pretty heavy rock/metal with growling etc; but also love a good, overly saccharine pop song, especially if it's catchy...so I'm gonna break the rules and do my own list of 90's songs that do this. 3) "Fly" - Sugar Ray 2) "All that She Wants" - Ace of Base. 1) "Candyman" - Aqua. *Honorable mentions: "Can't Get You Out of my Head"- Kylie Minogue. This was during the early 2000's and I both hated it and loved it. "You've Got the Moves" - Electric Callboy. This song is from only a few years ago, but it combines the silliness of bubblegum pop with the heaviness of modern heavy metal. It's basically my favorite song of the past 5 years.
You really have to look to the 70's and early 80's for Yacht Rock. Think Michael McDonald Doobies era, Christopher Cross, Todd Rundgren. Your picks I'd consider sugar coated Pop. Thanks for commenting! DG

Oh yeah I think it qualifies. Chevy made it funny. Then he became a dick!

We all have a masochistic streak. Thanks, DG
3) Hello It's Me Todd Rundgren
2) Sentimental Lady Bob Welch
1) Tie: Time Passages/Year of The Cat Al Stewart
I guess these are my faves, not necessarily cheesy.
Alright. Cheesy.
3) Orleans Dance With Me
2) Paul Davis I Go Crazy
1) Air Supply All Out of Love
BTW, I absolutely hate the Pina Colada Song 😂😂
@@JohnSmith-pg8tv All Out of Love is pretty cheesy, but I like those other two.
All good Yacht Rockers. Air Supply for sure! DG@@JohnSmith-pg8tv
Good ones though I love Todd and that song. A little on the cheese side I'll admit. DG

Seasons in the Sun was my top pick too!
"Afternoon Delight" isn't "cheesy." It's just AWFUL.
Lol!
I can't argue your point. But it was HUGE back in the day. DG
@@davidgriffiths4715 I don't disagree.....but awful things are so very often huge!
