She can use vibrato in her whistles, and she can make them sound piercing, airy, strong, she can even speak on it!. I mean, she's the queen of whistle register!
You pointed out the thing that I CONSTANTLY try to explain to big Mariah fans. Mariah does things that are pedagogically “impossible” or ill-advised. She sounds *wonderful* doing it, but it isn’t due to perfect “technique”... It’s just a freakishly amazing talent. She breaks almost every convention of singing.
She has really nice low notes. It’s rare a female goes this low. I think she said in a interview that she attributes her vocals nodules to the fact why she can hit such low notes. Like you said she appears to have vibrato in her whistles. This can even be noted on her studio recordings. She is definitely amazing!
One name for beautiful low singing. A true contrelto. Not this forced stuff Mariah does. Go to 17 year old Dianna Ankudinovas TH-cam page. She starts at age 13.
@Daydream if you can hear her low notes. Seriously , you Mariah fans love low notes so listen to female singers that actually sing low notes. Expand your horizons and watch Dianna Ankudinova (15 when she sang it) Wicked Games. Faouiza singing Bad Dreams stripped version, Tears of Gold stripped version. Faouiza is a singer songwriter. Break free of American pop singers and discover unbelievable talent in the world.
You're my new favorite Mariah reactor!!! I just love your reactions and how you explain what she does with her vocals!!! Can you also react to her Grammy performance of "We Belong Together/Fly Like A Bird" please!!!
She is so talented! She could definitely sing a G#2 and belt G#5 in some eras. Amazing range. And of course she has whistled above G#7! I love her. And her melisma. She's my favorite :) I love when people react to Mariah. Great reaction. Thank you!
Lower notes are even more difficult than high notes cause you do have a limit down there, you can not loose more your chords, only relax and let it work, but you need a lot a control. What she does is insane with her breath control, balance and agility throughout her whole range.
What i love about your reaction is that you are focused on the very little details about what she's doing in her voice. What a sensitive ear. You have gained a new subscriber here.
Anyone else noticed how her speaking voice got very deep after she sang? 😂😂 I find that a little funny and cute 😂 but I don't think a lot of people noticed it 🥺
The lowest in studio she’s ever gone is Eb2. Unless some are lower in her background parts! I’m sure she can easily do C2 !!! And highest she’s gone in studio is Bb7 !! Her background singers have heard her go off the piano notes!! She easily has over 6 octaves !!! and they’re all connected !!
Thanks for reacting to the Queen of Music! And I get what you are saying, but us lambs are pretty used to what Mariah can do with her voice, she is super human lol ;)
You should react to Mariah Carey empress of the the whistle register and Also a compilation of her latest Twitter vocals where She speak-whistles in we belong together and Also her tik tok"he's got the whole world in his hands"
I think for you Rachel this would be a different side of Mariah. But for me this is Mariah Carey she has the ability to go super high, middle range and extremely low that most male singers can’t even attempt. And she is a very versatile artist very beautiful. Hey if you will could react to her song bliss it’s from the rainbow album but I’m hoping she did a live Performance singing it Lawd I don’t know how she’s able to do it!!! And I love your channel and reactions ❤️💯
So amazing her range is in fact between (F2-B7) although people argue that she went down to an E2 at some point. Most Mariah performances are stand and sing and she just captures you by doing that
Mariah Carey has a crazy vocal range her lowest live note is an F2 and her highest is a Bb7. She dips her voice so low that she ends up using a projection of her own voice and her diction does not suffer. She is a vocal monster! And she considers herself an alto that can cover the notes from a mezzo and a soprano that's why her speaking voice is so low too
You need to check out the video "Empress of the whistle register" they showcase how versatile her whistle register is and how well she uses them to create an ambiance in the same song
I LOVED your reaction and I love this performance so much. It was so cool hearing your honest take and genuinely enjoy it. You slayed me girl with your musical knowledge and taste xo
Her lowest notes in this performance is F#2 like😤 some males can't even hit those notes😂😂 and her lowest notes is F2 from my all in her 2014 performance
She didn’t actually hit an F#2, I heard that part in the undubbed and she only went down to the Bb2 in that little descending glissando. I do hear a slight low tone that sounds like an F2 at that part, but judging from the undubbed, she didn’t even hit the Bb2 in “always”, and barely supported below an Eb3 here.
I remember media saying her performance was the most boring one of the night.. deaf people. This is insane, I wish I was there to watch this. No one remembers any of the other performances but this!!
This performance is my reference when someone says that somebody can sing like Mariah. In my head with this performance, I'll go "nuh-uh, dahling, I don't think your fave can sing like Mariah"
What I love about her is her range. Her real range is similar to Whitney Houston (Mezzo). However, due to vocal nodules and her ability to sing around the nodules she also has the soprano range. She’s the only person I’ve ever heard that has 2 vocal ranges plus a whistle. She’s also the only singer I’ve ever heard of that’s had her voice actually studied because of her range and her ability to sing “around” the nodules (which isn’t supposed to be possible). Also, I’d like to point out that I’ve seen her live (and yes she sang live) and she still has that voice from the mid 90’s. The problem is that she usually wears spanx that restrict her breathing. When she’s comfortable with her body and not wearing spanx she can nail her mid 90’s notes.
Rachel, can I ask you to react to Diana Ankudinova Wicked Game. Diana is a unique, one of a kind contralto. Wicked Game was performed at TV show in 2019 when Diana was just 15.
She can use vibrato in her whistles, and she can make them sound piercing, airy, strong, she can even speak on it!. I mean, she's the queen of whistle register!
Yes. She can even add growls in her whistles. ♥️
Well said most definitely 👐🏾
@@lamb7064 when did she add growl in her Whistle?
She can even harmonize with her whistle notes like WOW!
Julio fernández same question lmao
Thats why she is the one and only Mariah Carey.
SHE HIT AN F#2 IN THIS PERFORMANCE!!
youre tone deaf it's b flat
One of the greatest performances of her entire career, jaw-droppingly spectacular.

YASS!!!!! Inverted Mariah!! Loved everything you said!!! She does many surprises and her voice and tone etc always changed!! She’s like a chameleon!!
That whistle note was the whistle register she use on bliss 😱
I’m a simpleton. I see a Mariah Carey appreciator, I subscribe.
The whistles' tone matched the tone of the low notes. She is always making us catch up lol!
Masterclass by Mariah... she has so many performances that are underrated, including this one. Vanishing (rehearsal) @ SNL
