      I had one out yesterday, and the molar next to it. The wisdom tooth was causing problems with the molar, so I had to have it removed. I will have an implant put in in a few months :)

    I’m currently at the end of my 5th day post op (four impacted wisdoms removed with twilight sedation), and I just wanted to post this comment across a few videos to calm anyone down who may be panicking like I was. Because I was panicking. Never had surgery before and I read and watched every horror story on the internet. I just want to say that I had a good, experienced surgeon perform my extraction and that I dealt with NO unbearable pain, did NOT take any narcotic painkillers, and have been instead alternating ibuprofen and acetaminophen (stopped that today on day 5). The sedation did NOT make me act weird, for those of you who fear that part. The third day was indeed the worst, but completely doable. I would describe it as discomfort at its worst. To me, the whole process has been no different than what it was like to lose teeth as a child, along with a sore and stiff jaw. Hope this helps anyone, because I read so many bad comments and I was completely freaked out the week prior to surgery.

    Wisdom tooth surgery was no big deal. I always actually look fun to getting knocked out for surgery.
    I'm sitting there breathing oxygen on a nose hose thing across my face, then my hearing starts getting louder and fuzzy, like sometime turned up the static volume on a tv. I had a splittttt second of me thinking "dam I feel so relaxed." You don't have this feeling or thought of "uh oh I'm slipping now" because literally from the time you breath in that first breath to waking up, is legit 2.5 seconds. It's crazy and amazing.
    Don't be scared to get knocked out. It's like being scared of sleeping.. that's irrational. You will be laying there then boom just wake up, it's no big deal.
    It was as if out of nowhere you aren't nervous anymore. Then, I opened my eyes and the lady was telling me I could stand up now.
    It's instant teleportation. It's so cool and honestly no big deal.
    The soreness afterwards is nothing near dealing day in and day out with the original tooth ache. Honestly having your wisdom teeth bother you is more painful than the surgery recovery. It's like 1/10 and the pain pills work great.
    I just chill, eat soft foods and relax. It's no big deal at allllllll. I was actually more nervous about my wisdom teeth than my back surgery I had. Because I hate teeth. But man, wisdom extraction is no biggie!
    Enjoy the drugs, you are soooooo dam thankful these huge painful bones are finally out. All it feels like afterwards is like you have a paper cut on your gums. Like a very slight 1/10 burn as if you have a small cut from biting yourself. There isn't this intense wave of aching soreness and utter pain. Not at all. Your gums just feel like a slight paper cut.
    Trust me, having your wisdom tooth day in and day out is so much more painful. When my wisdom teeth would flare up for a day, those feelings of a toothache are wayyyyyy more intensely deep than your surgery. After a couple years I said screw this I want these out. So I got em out. Getting them out is the most "ahh.....relief" feeling ever. It's amazing

    • @koofdome
      @koofdome 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Kayla Patino just eat tons of mashed potatoes and apple sauce and try to dribble Gatorade and stuff for a few days down ur mouth. Nothing too hot or too cold. Dry socket is really rare if you don't smoke, use straws, or brush the wound. You will be surprised how quick it heals. The first few days seem to last forever and then one day you wake up and the pain is so much better and you feel finally relieved!
      I can tell you this, I have had not ONE migraine since my wisdom teeth got pulled. Not one. I wish I did it years earlier.
      Don't worry about dry socket! It's very rare like I said if you don't smoke, use a straw, or poke around at it. Let it heal and don't lick it with your tongue as tempting as it is lol.

    • @koofdome
      @koofdome 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kayla Patino also don't rinse too hard. Just use warm salt water that's it.
      I filled my mouth with salt water, then looked down and just kinda swiveled my head back and forth. Very light swish. Don't swish like you would mouth wash. Just rotate your head around and look down and kinda shake ur face. Very gentle and feel the salt water washing all of your teeth. Then let it dribble out. Do not spit!
      It's gross. But you'll be okay within a few days

      K E N K E N it's different for everyone. But I think you will do perfectly fine. Don't stress about it. They will take care of you and the most important thing. Listen to the doctors instructions and DO NOT drink water or eat any food from 12am midnight till your surgery. And DO NOT eat any solid foods for about a week after surgery. Most people say it's fine. But it will cause you to get food stuck in it and might get an infection. So to be safe just don't. And make sure to rinse your mouth constantly with warm water and salt to help it heal.

    This video is as awesome as it gets. There is no explanation more limpid than this. And his calm and the intonation of his voice just suck you right in. If he is your professor you're damn sure you're leaving that class having retained at least 85% of the material, not just getting A's from cramming 2 days before the test. So to all of you complaining about his accent, the world doesn't revolve around your little bubble. Speak to people from other countries/cultures, learn a new language or something. Or you'll miss great information 'cause you are stuck inside your little box.

      you will always feel the pressure while extraction no matter how much anaesthesia they inject, as its pushing your jaw bone, anaesthesia's job is to numb the nerves around that place only because of which you don't feel pain but only pressure

    Everything he's saying is right. Reason mine hurted after extraction was because I actually spit when I wasn't supposed to. If your mouth hurts, means you did something your not suppose to. However, I notice warm towel or cloth on face after swelling has gone down is amazing

    for anyone watching this, the last thing he talked about "dry socket" can be helped if you go back to your dentist, they place a painless artificial plug material that disintegrates with time and helps with the pain and healing. don't suffer through it or think pain pills will help, they will not!

    Welp, got all 4 removed 2 days ago and I pretty much did everything wrong 🤦🏾‍♀️ I just dont want dry socket. They told me that I could brush my teeth and eat the same day so I did. 🤷🏾‍♀️ In fact, I ate regular food like nothing happened. Just a little sore afterwards that's all. What I've noticed is every single BODY is different when it comes to this. I was scared crapless but I tend to tough things out and take pain very well. I've never taken narcotics in my life (not even for a previous surgery) so I didn't bother with it. I took ibuprofen and acetaminophen instead... it worked well. Also, just local anesthesia...that was the scariest part (I hate needles). I hope everyone heals up nicely! Take it easy.

    I have dry socket after having mine removed a weeks ago, it is horrible pain, not even describable!!! Listen to what ever your surgeon tells you so you do not have this complication!!! The packing helps for a few hours, but I have been woken up repeatedly over the past few days by the throbbing pain! Not fun, be VERY careful not to dislodge the clot or you too will experience this.
