    I’d be so grateful for a response Dr.
    6 days ago I had a traumatic upper molar extraction. It took almost 2hrs to remove using every tool in the surgery. The dentist missed a few of the precautions in the post op care. I think I may have rinsed too vigorously with salt water. Or perhaps it was just the trauma that caused the issue. My gum has been hacked at, especially into the roof of my mouth. It looks to me like there is no gum protecting the root in the neighbouring tooth, which also feels shaky.
    The pain is excruciating. I returned yesterday and after basically having a sit down protest she saw me, cleaned with saline and packed. This helped a little yesterday but today it’s just as sore and my eye and nose feel weird too. What would you do now? I’ll go back of course but wondered what you’d do as a next course of treatment. I also wanted to ask if being on HRT, topical estrogen affects things?
    Thank you.

    Got 1 bottom wisdom tooth extracted because of decay. Dentist removed 70% of the tooth that was decayed. Dentist did not want to remove the entire tooth because it is strongly fused with jaw and there is a risk of jaw fracture. He is suggesting going to a hospital to get the remaining tooth removed under general anesthesia if it bothers me. Otherwise keeping the remaining tooth as is is an option and gum will growth around it. I don't want to take the risk and keep the remaining tooth as is. What do you suggest?

    • @DrElyasYonis
      @DrElyasYonis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear that. Regarding your night guard, did your dentist inspect it after your extraction and bone graft? If so it’s okay to wear.
      If they haven’t it would be a good idea before wearing your night guard to book an appointment with your dentist so they can make sure it’s not pressing on the bone graft. If it is they can easily adjust the night guard then you can wear it.
      Make sure you get it checked as if there is any pressure on your bone graft this can cause the bone graft to fail!

    I agree with everything but the pain killers I think might not be needed. I took Ibuprofen and Tylenol and was fine. Now it could be different for others but I definitely didn't need any pain killers. But follow what your dentist or surgeon tells you.

    • @DrElyasYonis
      @DrElyasYonis  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for your comment Ryan! When I say pain killers that would be things that you find without a prescription like Paracetamol and Ibuprofen (just like what you took). The idea is that it just makes any discomfort more manageable so you can continue with your every day activities and eat and drink.
      If your dentist or surgeon thinks that you're going to be even more pain they may prescribe you some stronger pain killers. Hope that clarifies things.

    So I have 4 teeths extracted today, 2 from upper jaw and 2 from lower jaw. I guess I was more afraid of the numbing injections given in the areas of Teeth extraction, different areas inside the mouth including the roof of the mouth, i almost passed out because I hate injection.
    Immediately my Orthodontist put back the wires in there, have it tightened and then with a rubber band at both sides of the teeth closing the upper jaw and lower jaw together. So that's double pain 😢.
    My mouth is kinda of bloody right now. The injection Numbness made my mouth and lips looks and feels like a balloon is now finally wearing off. But am in pain right now, but my other worry now is how am I going to eat with this messed up teeth, because am really hungry right now.
    My 4 extraction area was stitched up, but thank God they used the non removable stich, so I wouldn't have to sweat about them removing the thread and causing me pain.
    They told me to eat after the numbness has worn off which will be more than 4 hours later.

      @@theoriginalone2780 The injection numbs the pain, but you can hear the tugging and pulling out of the teeth, but you will feel no pain. Since you will only have 1 teeth pulled out, that shouldn't be too scary. It took him like seconds to extract each teeth out.
      However I slightly started feeling pain on the third teeth extraction. When you feel the numbness is starting to wears off, just inform the surgeon to quickly numb that area of the tooth.

    • @DrElyasYonis

      Dorothy, This is very true! You can still hear noises during the extraction as your mouth is soo close to your ears. A good idea is bringing headphones with you so you can listen to some music to block out the noise.

    • @DrElyasYonis
      @DrElyasYonis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @TheOriginalOneAsk your dentist for topical anaesthetic gel before any injection. This will help numb the skin inside your mouth before they give you the numbing injection. Works really well!
      Also you shouldn't be in pain during the extraction, all you should feel is pressure. If you're still in pain your dentist will stop and top-up the local anaesthetic. Let me know how it goes.

    Yesterday I had three wisdom teeth out (one was impacted) and a tooth extraction in the front of my mouth it hurts like hell and nobody on the Internet is telling me the best way you heal with stitches, like all of my stuff is stitched up. It hurts like hell and I can barely open my mouth. 😭😭😭

      then you use gauze and rotate out new dressings every 30-40 minutes. I put ice packs on my cheek on the side the tooth was pulled and it really helped with the swelling and pain. After 5 hours, I felt fine.

      Hello. The healing process usually takes 1-2 weeks according to krissai. I also had mine few months ago and if I remember it correctly, it took about 10 days to heal. Both my dentist and kriss advised to avoid eating hard and sticky foods during the healing process and apply cold compress to reduce the swelling. May I ask if it's wisdom tooth extraction? 🙂

      This sounds concerning! Kriss ai said numbness 12 days after a tooth extraction is not normal and could be related to nerve trauma. It's best to schedule a follow-up appointment with your dentist ASAP and have it checked out!

    What I don’t understand is why these professionals Just tell you the obvious …. He’s just telling you to treat the symptoms and not the underline situation and the circumstances surrounding it. 1. Before extraction take antibiotics. 2. After extracting get bone graft coupled with a membrane to fill the cavity and speed bone growth.3. Take antibiotics after extraction.# Nothingnewtoablackman
