so good, such an interesting lesson and breakdown, thanks bro. Steve is an actual player not just a teacher. I studied with one of the best jazz guitarists in Australia for a few years, who is also a great blues player. Steve's teaches the exact same stuff - like learning one key at a time or one box at a time etc. etc. etc. Listen to what he says coz he's a player. Alot of teachers aren't players so they can't lead you to the next level, but our Steve can!
Thanks for the kind words, Mickey! And thanks for sharing your experience. :-)

i love how you keep encouraging your students, and tell them that some things don't matter, as long as they get the "gist"of it...and so they can enjoy learning something new, without too much frusttration.....
ps...David Gilmour used his "wammybar" to do most of his bends....so some might try that instead...especially those awsome triple bends over "the top"....:-)
i always enjoy watching your videos....mostly because you are so "positive"....:-)
Thanks for watching and sharing your knowledge, Stratman! :-)

Can you do a session on and old band Ram Jam. Black betty? I'm thinking people will get a great feeling of how our playing a jam can get others to really feel what there playing and not seem there going through the motions of a song. Hope you understand what I'm saying.
You have changed my life with all your teachings I'm autistic and never in my 54 years been. able to understand music playing until I found your videos on youtube. Thank you so much. Jimbob.
Thanks for the kind words, Jimbob! It's awesome that Steve's teachings have helped you understand music better.
And that's a great suggestion for a song lesson! :-)

Gilmour is smooth, but he also has hands that are as strong as meathooks. Great video. I have the tab for this, and I am going to play your video side by side with the tab, and see if I can impress my wife. Thar rake is awesome. I think that's the hardest part of the solo, except for maybe the 1.5 or 2 bend. BTW, just joined Premium Max.
Awesome, Jeffrey! Thanks for watching, and thanks for signing up! :-)

Now my fingers are bleeding from all the bends. But thanks Steve!!!

I'm sorry I'm a total newbie..can I learn such tutorials on a telecaster? or will it sound bad or worse? I'm about to but my fir electric guitar and I'm torn between star and tele :(
Thanks for watching, Yuki! And to answer your question, of course you can! David Gilmour played a Strat most of the time, but you could play the same solo on a Tele and it would sound great, it would just have more of a Tele tone.
One thing to think about though, I'm not sure if the whammy bar is used in this particular solo, but Gilmour did use it from time to time I think. And Telecasters don't usually have whammy bars, or at least not the same type that a Strat has.
Remember, it's all about finding the right guitar for you as a guitar player. Here's a video where Steve talks about that: th-cam.com/video/jSJ8IpvDS-c/w-d-xo.html
Hope this helps! :-)

Hi Steve. I'm just discovering your lesson on Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2 by David Gilmour. You're a fantastic player and teacher, but you're most certainly wrong about this solo. The part where you're referring to the 9th is played at the 5th fret Dm position. The notes are the same, but I'm 100% certain that David Gilmour plays that section between the 5th and 7th frets. It's also worth noting that the solo is played - (unusually for David Gilmour) - on a Les Paul with P 90s which makes the bends a little easier.
Hey! Thanks so much for your comment and feedback. Yeah you might be right about the position. And the guitar he used for the solo. I always thought it was his strat but it is played on a les paul. Thanks again for commenting!
What are the best strings for this kind of bending?
Thanks for watching, Mighty Gamebar! As a general rule, the lighter the string gauge, the easier the strings are to bend.
I think Steve is probably using GHS GBXL Guitar Boomers Electric Guitar Strings - .009-.042 Extra Light gauge in this video. You can learn more about these strings and some of Steve's other favorite guitar gear here: guitarzoom.com/gear
