    Galvin Green all the way it’s well worth the money, life time waterproof guarantee, i’ve had a set leak and they no fuss set a new jacket. Still wearing the trousers over 10 years old and as waterproof as the day bought if looked after.

    Used to play in the rain when I was younger. Now that I’m older with some injuries, I won’t play in the rain. Want to enjoy my golf and my time outdoors.

    Here in Britain where it rains a lot, THE brand for rain gear is Galvin Green.

      800 on a kit is stupid expensive but if it's the only thing that works when it rains more than half the time I guess it's something I would do but ouch I hope they are as durable as a tank

    • @HKRoad
      @HKRoad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lakecityripper mine has lasted for years so a good investment. It’s the one golf item I have that never wears out.

    • @lakecityripper
      @lakecityripper 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely won't argue that. I figure those types of kit are for prople who live in climates like you. If I lived in Seattle I would invest. I live in Utah it snows alot but it doesn't rain much. I'm going to get a provisional kit because I only need it if it starts to rain during a round so I can finish.

    • @HKRoad
      @HKRoad 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lakecityripper yes if I lived in Utah this would not be my choice! It’s for places that get very wet. I’m sure the company would argue that layering would be a good answer for your climate but I have no idea about that - too much bulk makes golf impossible- but then I guess you don’t play in the snow?

    Brought Galvin Green waterproofs, Archie top and Alvin trousers. Outstanding performance, expensive yes for what they are, but best waterproofs I have ever had. Did not feel as though I was wearing them. Buy cheap buy twice.

    You'll also want some rain gloves. The Footjoy Hydrolite gear is nice. I have the pants (~$130) and the jacket (~$180). The jacket has zip off sleeves so you can turn it into a short sleeve rain jacket for warm weather. I've used them in a 55 degree rain and was warm without having to wear lots of layers underneath so they're pretty versatile for a variety of temps. The nice thing about golfing in the rain is that most people stay home and you practically have the whole course to yourself.

    I love gear and there’s a lot of good stuff out there for light rain. When it’s coming down hard.... or sideways, or ground up (Scotland), it’s hard to beat Zero Restrictions. Their stuff is as good as it gets and you’d love the pants. Adjustable waist and they’re long on length but have buttons so you can adjust them, etc.

    From my point of view the best is Galvin Green. A good second choice is the Footjoy stuff. Also an umbrella would be good and also rain gloves. A final thing to consider if you play in the rain a lot is a waterproof golf bag.

    How has the Under Armor rain gear worked for you? In my experience I've had great luck with Zero Restriction. They are expensive up front but I've bought all mine on closeout sales when their new models arrive. MUCH cheaper - around $100 for a Goretex jacket. In the warmer weather I prefer the short sleeve (the ZR sleeves come down to your elbow which will keep your shirt dry) that will give better breathing. Cooler weather I go back to full length sleeves. Love your videos. Informative but you have a slightly comical way to keep it light.

    Best rain gear period is Galway Bay. And it's made right down there in your neck of the woods in Alpharetta, Ga. No one comes close to their quality, feel, comfort, warmth and rain proof quality. I have been using their products for about 8-10 yrs. I recommend you try them before you decide on more mainstream brands.

    Bass Pro/Cabela’s. I paid maybe $150 for 2 sets of rain gear - 1 without lining and 1 with. I keep the unlined suit on my fishing boat and the other on a hanger at the house. When I’m golfing and there’s a threat of rain, the appropriate rain suit comes with me. Affordable and versatile.

    Ireland here I'm not a fan of rain gear but sometimes it's necessary. I go with the under armour jacket but for the pants I wear normal pants with that water resistant surface. That way I'm not changing in and out during the round. The pants are good and even if it rains a lot and the get wet they dry quickly. I should also mention I won't play if it's raining heavy at the start of a round. Loving the videos there great 🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮

    I've used my snow ski pants and jacket for years. But they are too tight...bought them when I was 14...now I'm 41. Plus there are a few rips and tears from catching on trees and golf carts. So I'm looking for rain gear before the cold months arrive.
    After shopping around I think I'll stick with ski apparel. Golf apparel is stoopid expensive.

    Couple of thoughts. Need a waterproof hat with a brim, rain goes down the back of your neck unless you've got the collar so tight you can't breathe. My fishing hat works well. Mygolfspy have just done their rain gear test, and there was a $1000 option in there, they had a good discussion on their No Putts Given TH-cam channel. Also, it's gotta breathe or wick away moisture otherwise you sweat so much you may as well not bother. Here in Aus NSW it doesn't get cold enough to worry about, so I just have a jacket & play in shorts year round. Enjoy your GA golf.

Then you get free Foot Joy $500 rain pants and then win again get a really nice jacket. Or play in a member/guest at some swanky club and most of the time they give you a logo rain jacket.. Worked for me.

    That Galvin Green is good stuff, but unless you live in Scotland or Seattle or other rainy places, its not worth it. The Under Armor gear will keep you dry and you can get the whole suit for $10 more than just the Green pants cost. Besides, What you are paying for isn't a rain suit, it's anti-rain insurance. I live in GA also and I can tell you, the way it works here is: It starts to rain, you pull over and dig out the rain gear, put it all on and two holes later, the sun is out and all the gear comes back off.

    I’ve never seen 2 stores that are owned by the same company that close to each other. My guess is that Dick’s doesn’t have a golf section.

      They are often near each other...golf galaxy was rebrand of Golfsmith...Dick's is more into golf about few years ago and has some fitting bays at some locations....golf galaxy has a wider selection of both apparel and equipment plus custom fitting and club repair..

      alcw 62 thanks for your feedback, I do know that Golfsmith was purchased by Dick’s and that some of them were turned into Golf Galaxy’s, but there were many Golf Galaxy’s around before that happened. I’ve been to and purchased from all 3, so I know about their store layout/set-up. Being in the military, I’ve been in or through a lot of states and have never seen a Dick’s that shares a sheer wall with a Golf Galaxy, but it is a good point that this could’ve been a Golfsmith that they just changed the name of...and probably removed their golf section in the Dick’s.

    Galvin Green is the cream of the crop. That said the price is hard to swallow. Now that you know your size in GG check out golfposer during Black Friday.

    GavinGreen is worth the price. I am bone dry every time I use mine.

    If you buy top -end golf rain gear, it will end up being the most expensive suit you own, which you will scrunch up and stuff in a pocket of your golf bag, and hope never to use it!
    Seriously - adding the word “golf” to any product just adds dollars ( or pounds) to the price. I’ve bought rain gear that’s for mountain/ hill walking in the UK. It’s great. It’s not cheap, but it’s cheaper than Galvin Green or Kjuss stuff. And it works. Try Páramo and Rohan.

    I bring a change of dry clothes and utilize the umbrella I found 25 years ago and use good dry-towel management while playing.
    $0 spent.

    All Rain Gear no matter what brand or how expensive MUST be cared for with proper washing and application of DWR - I use Granger wash and DWR on my Gore-Tex. So many people are confused or just uninformed so do some research.
