No matter how many times I watch it I will never stop enjoying watching Ray Mordt score that try in the corner

I became a rugby fan and supporter of Northern Transvaal in 1965. I have some great memories of games that I have attended at Loftus Versfeld over the years. Apart from having Northern Transvaal rugby memorabilia on display in my Rugby Museum, I also had the privilege of meeting some of the legends of Northern Transvaal rugby over the years. Apart from those who are no longer with us, I am still friends with the others. My blood is and will always remain blue.

Good man. I remember Northern Transvaal from the early days of super 12. They were some formidable teams. From NZ btw.

Amazing how fast the rugby was then, the Blue Bulls pretty much played like we see the Kiwi teams do today.
Very good ball handling skills as well.

Ray was a lethal runner and try scorer. So good to see him go once more.

Best tackle I have ever seen in my entire life. 1:31. Absolutely incredible.

Ah ...I remember being a youngster at Ellis Park watching that try of Ray Mordts when he used Liam Kirkham as a speed bump. Great memories.

The big centre scoring (2:32 - 2:49) is Francois du Plessis, the father of Proteas cricket captain, Faf du Plessis. He did not play a lot for the A-team, but regulars at Loftus in the 1980's will remember him as a stalwart in the B-team for many years. One of his regular centre partners in the B-team was Lourens van Staden, who is now prof. Lourens van Staden, Vice-Chancellor and Principal at TUT in Pretoria.
