Personally, I really enjoy the SSG 748F, VMAX/FF 777, and Rotate MD80 for heavy metal, which is primarily what I dabble in.
For general aviation, I really enjoy the Carenado Piper PA46, Carenado Cessna C208, and the Alabeo C177 Cardinal II, depending on what I'm doing.
My all time favorite plane, for sentimental reasons, has to be the L1011 though. I absolutely love the handling, and if the controls were as good as my 748 or 777 (specifically, if it had mousewheel knobs), well, I would have stopped at the TriStar.
And your mention of the 727 makes me feel like I need to go get it now. I've heard nothing but good from the old guys that actually operated the beast, and I feel like it could be yet another L10 for me.

I have the 172 by Airfoil and the 727. You are spot on on your assessment of these products.
My dad flew for PAA and he retired Captaining the 727 so guess which was my first XPlane addon?

Very interesting list and great quality sound, I'm subscribed and I'll probably be spending some money soon. I would however have appreciated a bit more about the specifics of why you like a particular aircraft, just a few points as to why it's on the list.
+Brian Parker A great place to get answers is his live-stream. He usually streams Friday evenings eastern time. The twitch chat is a great place to learn about all things x-plane. Lots of serious sim enthusiasts there.

Ok guys thanks for the pointers. For someone in one of the Euro timezones, EST can be a bit of a challenge. I enjoy watching the Super Bowl but that usually means a day off work. 8-) As I said, I enjoyed the list and I hope my comments were considered as constructive. I've also just watched your VLOG on how you got into all of this and it really was excellent! Fascinating and complex route into how you ended up streaming Flightsims. Very much enjoying your channel and looking forward to your future content!

that's true! Sometimes JARDESIGN looks a bit too metallic but the Peter A320 looks a bit soft. So i don't mind which one i flew, they are both great in their own way xD

Yes! It doesn't get a lot of attention I believe because it's posted in X-Aviation which is far less popular than the XP.org store
+Osamah Alabdullah I think it's a great plane. I don't fly it much because it used to have just awful framerate. It's also quite slow, so there aren't a lot of destinations I can fly it to. Will definitely be getting in it more in the near future.

+burz96 Its the way Carenado models their aircraft...lots of polygons laying all over. Yea makes for great eye candy but at what cost? Good example of smart coding is FlyJSim...freakin awesome textures but also keeps the poly counts low and frames high. Best Dev out there IMO

Carenado makes a 210 that has been enhanced by the Reality Expansion Pack. I haven't flown it yet, though, but have heard good things.

Well I cannot disagree with you at all. All aircraft displayed are good and I have some of them. Mostly though, I'm a flight simulation GA pilot. So I would have to say my favorite would have to be the MU 2 by Tom at X-Aviation. Though dated now and deftly need some tender loving care but for me every time I want to go fly I'm generally in my MU 2. Also got a craving for water action so I bought the twin otter by RWDesigns. It is fun and I enjoyed the aircraft as well, but hopefully one version 10.50 comes out with X-Plane, that they'll address some water issues via transitions from water to land and erratic water bobbing that happens when you're on floats. So thanks for the Vid keep up the great work.

Hey Cat, This is my number 1 go to list, however I am thinking of picking up a plane however dont know which one, the VFlyteAir Arrow iii or the VFlyteAir cherokee 140?
They're both solid planes. If you can deal with something a bit slower the Cherokee is probably the better buy. It's newer with some better sounds.

Why love for the E1000 but no mention of the Epic Victory? I've put a stupid amount of time into that jet and it comes with an experimental amphibious prop with swept back wings that, while simple, is still a lot of fun to try and get out of the water.

EADT x737 is my favorite all time. Well really it's the only non default plane that I have but the 737-800NG is my favorite plane IRL and bought X-Plane because of it. I am mind blown by the fact that this is freeware, I mean, it's almost as accurate as PMDG in P3D and FSX!

I want to like it but not at the cost of nearly 10 FPS. It drags my new X-Plane 11 install down to 18 when I am usually at 28+ Is this aircraft really that demanding? If I am reading the output counters my X-Plane is only using 40% of the CPU and 35% of the GPU. Seems low.

Great video, I agree with your points, especially with the 320, very temperamental model. I was wondering if you (or anyone else who sees this) own the Bombardier Challenger aircraft, and could tell me its strong points and weaknesses. As far as I can tell from some of the reviews I've read, the main downside is that it only features the stock x-plane fms as it stands. Where would you rate it on this list, or would you recommend some other regional jet, like the CRJ?
+Dragaming There's a video of it on this channel from last July, I believe. The model itself is quite good, though somewhat dated. It does run the stock FMC, but with X-FMC it's tolerable. The radios are a handful to manipulate due to bad design on the manufacturer's part (DDen captures this pretty well). I think it's a solid buy, and goes on sale frequently.

You could get a bit more out of a 1080, but honestly it would be a marginal bump over the 980. I would suggest holding off on an upgrade for now.

Would anyone recommend getting the FlyJSim Bombardier Dash 8 Q400?
It's okay for the price. Know that it uses a lot of stock sounds and the default FMC. If you're looking for a Q400 that flies well it's a solid choice.

+The Medek It's a good plane, yes. Bit dated at this point, but it's still a solid model. I've got a livestream on this channel showing it off.
With the ATS MD-80 coming out shortly (and promising much better systems simulation), I can't recommend the Rotate at this moment.

LOLs...nice one, have em all (with exception to the 172) and cant say I disagree with much. Only change for me would be a swap with the 320 to the 330 but for the larger plane I prefer the 76 anyway. The PC12 is an obvious left out but for good reason, as an frame killer it is not appropriate to endorse in such a list. Besides the EPIC kinda covers the genre anyway.
My favorite plane??? Typically the last one I just bought :P

Why no 330?

It is always difficult to make a list of "best planes" when we all users have our personal preferences what we fly, where we fly and how we fly. I have some experience of commercial jets and I personally want to fly as real as it gets. The simulation experience should be as close as possible to the real thing. I've not flown the real MD80 but the older DC9-41and the Rotate MD80 wouldn't help me much to survive 5 seconds in the real plane. I have flown a real 727 and the flight dynamics with the one you presented have no similarities at all. The 767 is really good. Never tried the real one but I have a feeling it is not too far from full scale one. The king is the IXEG 737, no matter which sim platform you're using. I have seen a lot of test reports, and despite their enthusiasm they have never really challenged all the systems, like shutting down hydraulics and see what is happening and how it flies..It is absolutely spectacular how close it is to the real plane. Yes, the plane was launched prematurely. The FMC is not ready yet. There are some other small items, but as I understand this will corrected with future hotfix updates. Yes, it took some 6 years to build it. I am sure the IXEG team could have done it in half the time, but according to a 737-300 pilot in the beta team, they could discuss and test for days how far the taxi light should illuminate the runway, and a million other items with similar dignity. Please guys, I do not want to start a debate on which plane is the best. This is just my personal opinion. X-plane as well as the competing platforms and their add-on makers are all striving in the same direction..to give us users, the best possible experience...now I am counting down to see and test the PMDG X-plane version of the DC-6 and a nice juicy NDB approach somewhere in the Andes..//Cheers/R

I highly doubt that all the of them are corroded, but one plane remains polished though out. We can agree that any plane a developer takes months or years of time making should not be put down as shit?

i'd say cut the x737 from the list now that X-Plane 11's default 737-800 is a thing. I'm about to switch from FSX, so i'm not sure if you can assign cockpits to different models (I.E how many MD-80 freewares for FSX use the 737 cockpit and the default MD-83 AI model). If you could that would allow for the cockpit and FMC to be copy pasted into all sorts of freeware aircraft (-700,-900, even the MAX if one wanted). Then combine that with ZIBO.
You could argue to leave the MD-80 out as well, but through my experience with the demo of X-Plane 11 and being unsure if a ZIBO type mod is out for the MD-80, I would leave it. Again, you could copy paste that cockpit around to make different versions of the MD-80s (-90, etc.)
The MD80 in this list is the Rotate MD-80. The video is also almost 2 years old, so it's missing a few planes and has a few that could probably be removed.
And what about the dash!

It's the default FMC. I use the freeware X-FMC though.
