Isshin says he fights Wolf to honour Genichiro's dying wish, but notice what he says as the second phase starts? "How my blood boils! Face me, Sekiro!" - he is just glad and excited that he gets to fight Wolf, which is HIS dying wish, and he never mentions anything about Genichiro or Ashina afterwards. In Isshin's final moment back in the mortal world, all he cares about is only, and still, fighting a worthy opponent. I bet upon his defeat, he may even be a little happy that he has lost, because that means Wolf, whom he has taken notice of all along, has finally surpassed him, that the student has defeated the teacher.
@@bialyjaskier can also think about this way - he was too strong and died of old age without fighting a worthy opponent, but now he finally got a chance and died to a stronger opponent whos worthy. He would deffo rather die like this
@@loomingmoon4682his memory calls him an actual killing machine built for war, no god tho, at the end of the day he's still a human, thats why his title is "saint" Isshin

Same, I always hear this motif when he pulls the spear up at the start of phase 2. Wish it didnt immediately switch to the second phase theme but I understand
Parrying Ashina Cross put a smile on my face every time, so so satisfying Seeing him do Ichimonji Double was a delight too, that’s THE strong skill short of Mortal Draw, if he lands it on you it’s not like you can even be mad: it’s his move! You only know it cause he invented it! Best From boss gameplay-wise, and everything else is sublime too, man this game rules
I like that if he is doing ashina cross and you are close to him he does a slash and a sweep instead, it feels really satisfying if he does this for some reason
“IKUZO, SEKIRO!!”
The only boss I don’t feel bad losing to.
fr him and owl
definitkey rage when i lose to geni mortal blade tho
He even provides constructive criticism
Hesitation is defeat.
Yea, cause he just takes out a gun and shoots you

Taught the teacher
He even congratulates Sekiro upon defeat
He also wants Wolf to end him with the Mortal Blade because Genichiro made him immortal and thanks to Lord Kuro he knows its a curse

@@m0nsoon660 yeah, plus Sekiro is canonically immortal, so he doesn't actually win the fight after killing him, he just tells him to stop hesitating
When he rise his spear from ground & the lightning strike behind.
It was just Godly!!!
Of course it is, you're fighting a War God at their prime.
And one that's fully there unlike some certain general...

The music that one should listen to when having hesitation
Isshin is still the best boss from has made.
For me it's Gael, but Isshin is fucking amazing
Midra is my favorite now, but Isshin is such a badass.
@@pennygirl015 Lord of Frenzied Flame??? I mean good take but imo Isshin is the only one right up there with Gael
