nah, buckshot is more effective, its also less likely to penetrate so you dont hurt your neighbors or their property.

@@slurp3194 Shotguns dont have as big a spread as in videogames, if that is your only reference. A decent 12 gauge should hit with buckshot with good accuracy (well as good as you are) at 25-30 yards, and if your house/yard is too big for that to be good enough you should probably move.
Also an AR has similar penetration issue, a;though inconsistently, if not using hollow points. If you arent gonna use a shotgun for home defense then use hollow points, less penetration means less lawsuits from angry neighbors.

And ur not going to be hitting every shot so lager magazine definitely needed . If all of them were armed shot gun woulda been one of the worst choices in this situation. And I definitely wouldnt advise to go outside through the front door in this situation. But rather shoot from the second floor so the angle of the shots would go down to the street and u dont have to worry about over penetration with ars.
