Sad to think I never knew you in the 70s, when I was listening to Pentangle and so many others. I love TH-cam -- having access to all this wonderful music and the people who made it fills my soul with glorious sound. Thanks for posting.
With you on that, Merridy J. It's amazing the wonderful little gems you can stumble across - and all together in one place! Inspiring, soul-nourishing stuff.
I have heard all the top groups doing this. But no question those guys are the best. If one listens closely they are wonderful. Cheers & thanks guys. Jh
Cheers Luzz-as you can see, we're not very good at keeping up with comments, but heartfelt thanks for taking the time to comment. Candace, thanks also on behalf of Mr Clive...
@@pennystone6349>>>>>>>> I'm glad ! I have not forgotten this beautiful piece of music in your interpretation. Now I've listened to it again and I still like it. Hopefully all band members are fine. Best regards from Germany Luzz Here is an old song in German, that I particularly like. from "ACHIM REICHEL" Maybe you like it too, it was and is a hit for my old RockN Roller days >>>>>> th-cam.com/video/R8SceCpeekw/w-d-xo.html>>>>>and that >>>th-cam.com/video/xchDsoDFfNw/w-d-xo.html........enjoy !!
Need to say thanks Merridy J for the nice comments, also Christine...sorry taken an age to answer. It was the Pentangle version of this tune that first made us sit up and take notice. Ross Wylde, the Bob song was a version of this old English folksong. Apparently the basis of it was found in some papers returned to Franklin's widow by the Admiralty. I guess we'd prefer 'interpretation' to 'rip-off'-it's how folk music constantly re-invents itself. If anyone is interested, you can find a Pennystone page on Reverbnation, with a version of the McPeake family's Wild Mountain Thyme amongst some originals. Thanks for visiting all Phil (Pennystone) PS a historical note-the remains of other Franklin ship The Terror have also been located in 2016 I think.
Sorry all, we are pretty crap at all this social mithering lark, at some point we should have said there is more from us on our Reverbnation Pennystone page...

Very nice rendition! I love the instrumentation.
Lovely stuff folks!🎶👍
Thanks for vibe melodeondek-the Franklin legend continues...
Fabulous! Loved it Clive!!
Incredible version! Thanx for sharing!
Ernesto, thanks for the comment-we came to the song via Pentangle, and always thought it could take a more rock slanted arrangement.
A beautiful sad song with eerie effects.
And they found The Terror in 2018, again, nowhere near her final sighting.
Great
Judy Collins refers to this song & its relationship Bob Dylan's Dream in another video.
Her comments led me here. What a neat find! Beautiful. Please give us more.
Bob Dylans Dream is beautiful, he obviously plagurised this song but it's still very moving.
@@SKYGUY1 I am embarrassed to say we totally missed your nice words, so glad you enjoyed the song.
Have a listen to "Bob Dylan's dream" a good rip of this song.
Honest version

Sounds a lot like "Bob Dylan's Dream"! Bobby was great at ripping off old folk songs.
