    Yeah he wasn't just a great general, but also a great precursor regarding the state's involvement in laws and economy. His famous Civil Code is also the main inspiration for the current French Civil Code.

      If only Napoleon know WHEN to stop... (at being Emperor) and started to stabilize relationship, perhaps things could go a different (alternate) timeline.

      @@Tamaki742 How to stop? He never got to choose. Napoleon never declared a war in his life. The rest of Europe did like 6 times
      European monarchies lead by UK went to debt for 25 years to end him & the revolution and get a King back in france : Charles X
      It was about ideology and killing all these new revolutionary ideas like equality at birth or before law & merit in school & for promotions

    War is always the more interesting topic they teach in schools. I can't imagine your education though when it comes to the French. I'm told it is a bit negative. Whereas here in the US we seem to walk about WW2 a lot, especially everything that happened after pearl harbor.
    Also fun little side note. Britain spent roughly 1.5 billion pounds on the Napoleonic wars. They didn't finish paying off that debt until 2006.

    • @ItsLofty101
      @ItsLofty101 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually no, this was a debt for the US from WWII that you are talking about.

    • @YukoValis
      @YukoValis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@ItsLofty101 pretty sure the US doesn't use pounds. No I'm looking at the cost statistic for Britain of the Napoleonic wars. Since not only did they have to pay their army/navy, but they bribed other countries a LOT of money to fight France.

      @@YukoValis don't see how using £ has anything to do with it as the rest of Europe use the euro(€). But I don't know about this and I'm thinking it could be either or, as the UK spent alot of money getting weapons, ammunition, and other resources in the first and second world war from the States. But then again Britain did spend alot of money on bribing other countries but you wouldn't think they'd run themselves into a almost 2 century debt whereas the the first world war was just over a century ago and the world wars were alot different to this and were alot more worth it
