    Much respect for Ana and her preference to stay private. My wife and I are big fans of you both. It is a special moment when Ana speaks and her words are quite inspirational. Like that character of a film who steals the show when they speak (think Hobson from Arthur or Yoda in Star Wars). We know exactly what she is talking about for the energy of a place and tuning in. The yoga is not too much as someone else has suggested. Also, we love your use of maps to show exactly where you are or the path taken. Safe seas to you both.

      +Let's Talk Shop - awesome comment guys - Ana loves that she is being compared to Star War characters and says we must go see the latest one released. Thanks again ...

      +Wakeywhodat Thanks so much - a big step for Ana - we will be showing some more videos of the islands and then we should film our next crossing which hopefully will be a calmer one than from Vanuatu to New Caledonia. Cheers

    I love your tour here. PS always carry extra batteries. I am also glad you show the foul weather too.
    I would be curious to see a condensed "Day in the life". From sunny to storm that creeps up amd when you are sitting out the storm, what are you doing aboard? reading playing board games? you know an example of that part that you might think boring but we your followers would just love to watch
    Thanks again for sharing your voyage

      +James Bell - noted about the batteries :( The Go Pro is getting shorter and shorter life to the batteries so I think in the next break I should try finding a new one. Let me see if we can get a scenario as sketched by you up onto video. Generally if it is late we will set the anchor watch, perhaps watch a movie or just go to bed. If it gets worrying we will do anchor watch by physically sitting at the plotter and on the ready, which also means if we have tucked into new territory for shelter we will be planning an emergency escape route in the dark. Cheers

    I'll bet the mooring ball gives you some peace of mind at night? ....great video!

    • @CatamaranImpi
      @CatamaranImpi  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Will Terry Actually you touch on an interesting point here - insurance companies prefer one to be on anchor rather than on a mooring ball since one is really at the mercy of 'gear that belongs to others'. Ultimately an anchor is the safer bet as long as one has bedded it well. Thanks again for the great comments

      +Will Terry Hey Will - I need to say this here - I love listening to your You Tube channel - I love your honesty about life, yourself, your fortunes and misfortunes, success and failure - its all so real and totally amazing to listen to. It took me a while to get to it as internet is mostly erratic for us so we are a bit 'selfish' hogging the good feeds to get our videos up there - I have encouraged my kids to listen to your words so very nice to be getting comments from you!

      +Catamaran Impi Thank you!...I was that kid who never thought I would accomplish much - since I performed so poorly in school. Now i feel that my mission is to empower others like me to work hard, and realize their true potential. After i refocused my life - I have more commissioned work and svslearn.com is growing fast! I'm having the time of my life as I approach 50! ....I had some small craft sailing experience during summers in North Carolina....hoping to one day see and experience the things you and your wife are doing. My wife loves to swim in warm water- so I think she could do plenty of that down there!

    • @CatamaranImpi
      @CatamaranImpi  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome Will - have some similar stories to tell - battled through it and kept my head down always ... some folks wondered how I kept going at it 'burning midnight oil night after night' they would say ... but hey ... it pays off in the 50's. One still has to keep an eye on things - when we left SA 4 years ago our currency was R7 / US$ and now hit close to R14/US$ - that means out here our wealth dropped radically, but thats life - its a cycle of ups and downs - money comes and goes - the real bonanza is in good health - man - felt for you there! Hopefully you guys just keep on the 'up and up' form here - I hope more folks watch your channel!

      +design of modern life - Thanks for the great comment - takes a bit of work and discipline - often feel like just being lazy and leaving the camera on the boat, but then again we love sharing something beautiful which also encourages others and brings a smile to their day - even if only for a brief moment :)

    Hey, did I hear some Dutch? "Pas op, hè." :-) Brent, you have nice video's and you surely visit beautiful places, although there is quite an overkill of yoga in the vids. But I like the way you use the right music at the right places. Only thing you miss (just my opinion :-) ) is one of those little Gopro stabilizers for your camera, to keep it level at all times. Hartstikke handige dingetjes!

    • @CatamaranImpi
      @CatamaranImpi  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DoubleUThings Howzat !! Yes - a little Afrikaans mix comes through now and then. The Yoga is a way of demonstrating the peacefulness and tranquility of the little islands we are discovering in New Caledonia and it is something many sailing folks are taking to. I think Ana would go along with you on this though - she always says not to keep facing the camera at her - getting her to say something on the movie was 'out of her comfort zone' ... being a very private sort of person. As for the stabilisers - yes - I totally, absolutely, 100% agree with you - I really struggle with keeping the camera frame steady and especially so when walking on the beach as sand tends to give way underfoot - some spots are harder than others and so on and makes it difficult to keep a steady pressure underfoot - makes for extremely difficult filming, especially when we are on the go. I guess a drone or tripod would be cool for that, but I have had my fair share of injuries with a very poorly built drone that cost me a lot of money (the factory refuses to make good on it) .
      The filming process is really secondary to what we are doing which is exploring - I guess I should see if there was a better way to stabilise the frames without sacrificing the journey. I was not aware there is a stabiliser outside of the ones mounted to a drone - will have to check that out - Thanks for the comment - verdydelik asseblief meer oor die stabilizers

      +MachTwo57 - So nice to have something to share which is enjoyable for other people out there - I think this is part of what makes us so happy - is to see others being happy. Many folks have written to us and asked us to post 'controversial stuff' as it gets the subscriber ratings up - but we prefer to keep it real - we are genuinely happy people who delight in seeing a happy world so why change that! And Yes, very fortunate to be with Ana - she warns me constantly that if I give up the dream of sailing she will find another captain in her life :)

    G'day Impi. My hubby has been watching your videos. Looks like you are in NZ at the moment. We are in Townsville, QLD Australia. If you are passing through this way we would love to say G'day. We are a cruising family (10 years in the Caribbean, hubby is ex Team NZ sailor). We have a big washing machine and a swimming pool. Happy to extend some hospitality to some fellow cruisers. Hubby has a house repair biz and has a lot of tools if you need to borrow any for repairs.

      +Janine Jones - what a super message from you guys - thank you so much. Be careful though - we may just look you up :) We met up with a lovely guy who has been following our travels for years, even before our You Tube channel - he was visiting our town in Stellenbosch here in SOuth Africa and training folks for the Gold Olympic team (Triathlon) and wow - he says we are an inspiration to him, but actually, it was he who is a terrific inspiration to us ... hope to see you in Australia ...

    Really enjoying your videos. Beautiful places. Just found Impi on marinetraffic.com with her AIS position. Things have changed since I sailed Cape Town to Trinidad to USVI in 2003. At that time our Inmarsat C terminal was really useful in combination with our HF Ham radio. Do you have a HF radio on board? Videos make me wish to go sailing the seas again. Thanks from Vancouver Canada.

      +Sean McDonald's RC channel Hi Sean - yes indeed - technology is changing in leaps and bounds especially with 'crowd sharing and sourcing'. Yes, we have SSB on the boat - please don't ask me how to use the thing - we have tried every which way but cannot get used to the old technology :) Ana says she cant handle listening to something, the interpretation of which is often a guessing game, so we use Iridium Sat Phone instead. The older school 'die hard sailors' will not enjoy the use of a phone, but then again we are moving with the times ... you know ... we used to carry water in buckets on our heads to our homes - now we have running water :))

      +Catamaran Impi Thanks for the reply. Agree about old tech HF Radio -- takes something to get used to...has plus and minus points. Iridium phone so much easier and definitely something to have on world cruise now days. Enjoy your new asymmetric sail. Keep videos coming. Thanks again.

    What UW camera were you using? New Caledonia is on my radar for at least 20 years because I am a diver but I agree with you, most people don't know about it.

    • @CatamaranImpi

      Hi Andre - sorry for the delay. The camera is a GoPro in a waterproof casing.
      New Caledonia is fast becoming discovered. We just visited it for a third time because we love it so much and are involved in an animal welfare initiative here - way busier than the first visit - I think it is seriously on the Australian sailors 'hit list' now.
      Cheers for now
      Brent

    I think the main reason other cruisers don't talk much about New Caledonia is because by time they are in a hurry to get to Australia. Most stop in New Caledonia briefly or not at all.

      +Lucas Lutz - Very true actually Lucas - we thought as much since we too could have fallen into that trap of missing New Caledonia. Its really a great pity because the place has so much to offer in beauty and also is very interesting. Just this week on our way down to Ile Des Pines we stopped at a little island called Cassy where there is an abandoned dog. We went there to see and feed the dog as most sailors who love animals do. We thought to find a home for it - a healthy, beautiful dog - dives for fish, scratches under rocks for crabs and other food - quite incredible. This place is fascinating - so many treasures in so many different ways. I was busy compiling a video of our visits around the other islands adjacent to the last ones we posted but now think I will do one on the dog of Cassy Island - a dog called Moose. Sailors - DO NOT MISS NEW CALEDONIA !!!
