True but low key that’s only bc most graphics cards aren’t really worth it. Most of them get negative reviews or if not they just get ignored. That’s why ppl would rather buy a 1080ti over a 3060 simply bc they’re around the same performance the only difference is just one could do ray tracing and the other one doesn’t and ray tracing hasn’t been mastered for the past 6 years, even the 4090 is useless for ray tracing even if you lower the resolution you’ll end up getting a bottleneck so yeah. There isn’t much of a reason to buy the latest generation of graphics cards especially from nvidia. Amd is different but some people don’t trust amd but it’s a bit understandable but they should be more optimistic about using it.

That's not how "holding back" works. Whole point is that Microsoft requires parity between series S and Series X so if a dev wants to make a game for the series X they ARE being limited by also having to make it work on the series S.

@@user-vt7fo4sq9l I don't see how any of that is relevant. Parity between Xbox X and S makes sense because that's the one benefit of having console generations. Also the Steamdeck gpu its hella cut down in specks similar to the later gtx 1600 stock series, it can use elements from raytracing capable cards but without the specific hardware associated with at a much higher performance cost.

This is a terrible comparison. The hardware between the series S and Deck are different they may use the same “architecture” but, one is using PC hardware the other is custom built for the console. Developers are not making games for the deck, outside of a handful of games that got dedicated patches it’s really just a crapshoot if it works or not. Majority of deck games are simply games being either updated or the proton layer eventually works its magic so the games run. Series S still is something developers have to dedicate time to spec for and it can cost them valuable resources and time delaying the release in some cases (Baldurs gate).

@@jaredcrane7547 Series S literally has 1/3 the GPU performance of Series X, roughly equivalent to GTX 1060, a mid-range card from 2017, and actually slower the one found in Xbox One X. It's not great hardware, not even by console standards.
The way you nonchalantly say about devs not being bothered to optimize for an extra platform that happens to be 3x slower than the others, shows that you either have no idea how game development works, or worse, you're being purposely ignorant on the subject. Devs' work is all about deadlines, and game devs in particular are literally the most overworked and underpaid people in IT. Of course they can be "bothered" to optimize for this potato, but then they won't have time to get the most out of the better platforms (hence the Series S is holding things back), or they'll just have to delay the Xbox release as was the case with Baldur's Gate 3, but most publishers wouldn't agree to such a move.
