Carl Bamford i use it in combimation with iron sight bolt action alot il spot first an pick my targets without the glimer of the scope but targets over 150m gets preaty hard but i dont get spotted alot it works so far
seriously..which server you join every time you play BF1, lvlcap? Your enemies literally either standing still or lying there prone like a log and taking their sweet ass time before decided to finally shoot at you.
Also, decent players often utilises flanks better so they catch enemies off guard. Positioning actually matters a lot in BF but most people often seems to brush it off as "Level/Matimi0/whatever always gets enemies that look the other way".
They do get tards alot though. I can flank a whole squad and kill a couple and they will instantly find me. They do it and can make a fucking brew and cook a steak until the team actually works it out. I have played retards too but not as often. He is doing nothing special in some isntgances hence shy people say this.
That suppression is really awkward integrated. Why don´t they let your sight shake around or tumble more if you are suppressed, that would be a lot more believing and easier to understand why you are missing and you could train to counter it. Now it´s hard to understand and totally random bullet spread even though you aimed perfectly. A bit frustrating when you think you have deserved a kill but a weird game mechanic says nope
I watched him mark a few different guys in this video and I never saw any range numbers pop up anywhere. Do you mean you have to be looking through the scope to make it happen?
I think it's worth mentioning that the Trench Periscope will give you a range on your targets. on the side of the scope is a meter with an arrow and a number displaying how far away the object under the cross is.
"Doughboy" American Infantry Load out Primary: M1903 Infantry Secondary: Doughboy 1911 Gadget One: Flare Gun Gadget 2: K-Bullets Melee: Spiked Club Or Shovel Grenade: Gas grenades in trench based maps, and Frag Grenades on anything else
christopher dean How the hell are you guys not using the Mars Automatic pistol as your back up in the scout class? The auto aim and damage on it is incredible. Martini Henry - Mars duo is the most deadly in the game!
RankUpGaming beat me to it. I use the trench periscope and the spot flare with the scout class. I use the Gewehr 98 Marksman for smaller maps in TDM and the 1903 for operations or TDM in Sinai desert. Medic classes are very OP if used properly as well.
RankUpGaming ^ true lmao I can drop 50 conquest kills pretty often with Hellriegel, Martini Henry is great too because it's so fun, Bar Storm is good, selbstader optical is good
Trench periscope = Rangefinder. There is a gauge on the right side of the periscope that measures distance. Surprised no one ever mentions this?! Great way to know if you're positioned right for the sweet spot!
There's another easier way to check the distance. It's using your minimap. You can change the distance in settings, you can then chose of 3 different zooms of your prefered setting. Let's assume that you set it at 200m, either through zooming or standard. Then at half way between you and the edge of the minimap is 100m. So as long as you got them spotted or flared, you can calculate the distance without flags or other objectives.
There are a lot of inaccuracies with the Springfield in this game, the 30-06 Springfield cartridge has a higher muzzle velocity than the German 8mm Mauser the Gewehr M98 fires. Why then, does the Springfield have a lower bullet velocity than the Gewehr? Also, "high powered" optic for the Springfield M1903 was actually centered above the rifle in World War 1.
Kyo Kayne I agree. The 30-06 was very advanced as a cartridge and was much more powerful than any other at its time for a bolt action rifle. The Martini Henry 577/450 has about half the energy also. I do allot of shooting myself, rifle and shotgun, and live everything to do with guns. However it's not like they can keep a shooting game realistic because there would only be bolt guns, in the trenches and everything would be a one shot kill. They traded realism for fun, and as much as I like realistic games and get angry about how in true to life it is they made the right decision. No one realises how dangerous guns really are when they only play games. With years of experience I understand how they work and how dangerous they are.
Kyo Kayne in the game they probably made all the scopes off centered so the rifles can be loaded with stripper clips. Balances the reload time with other weapons. I don't like it, but oh well.
Steven I think that in ww1 they only used stripper clips for the smle with side scope and other bolt actions with no scope, all rifles with scopes were centred in the middle not a side scope so stripper clips weren't used, they were loaded one by one
the trench periscope tells you how far away you are from whatever you're looking at. this will make your life easier if you wanna set yourself up at the "sweetspot" range.
With regards to suppression, why did DICE add a negative spread for LMGs, so you need to press and hold the trigger to gain accuracy, yet on some hold it for to long and they overheat? It's pretty frustrating
And some guns in the support class don't even have that big of a magazine to hold down the trigger long enough so the spread will stabilize. And yeah, the overheating mechanic is pretty stupid aswell.
DeltaWolf1000 exactly and the hellreigel as far as I know never over heats, neither does the Op MP18. Hate how assault gets all the OP weapons and is better than support when it comes to full auto. Don't get me wrong I can wreck with support, but that MP18 user comes along and I just bend over and take it.
You can also use the Parascope for figuring out distance. That's what I use. I love the parascope because I can hide behind cover and find stationary targets without exposing myself, especially with the sniper glint.
British officer loadout main weapon:none sidearm:automatic revolver gadget 1: bandage pouch gadget 2: none grenade: smoke grenade melee weapon: standard knife you are an officer in the British army. time to think tactically. use the pouch to heal your men and use the smoke grenade to cover you and your men's advances. levelcap keep up the great work.
There's a range finder on the periscope. Sometimes it will glitch-out though and always stay at zero meters. The only graphic they give you to know the 'sweet spot' of each rifle is on the loadout menu, so you have to decipher what that means or just experiment with them in-game.
I think suppression should result in scope sway, not random spread. That way skilled players could still land shots, the effect would be more obvious and intuitive to new players, and nobody could be angry at shots inexplicably missing.
you talk about there is only "one way" to gauge the distance you are from enemies and that's to look at nearby flags... meanwhile throughout the entire gameplay we can all see those 3 little dashes on the left side of your scope.. yeah those are range finders. You put your target into those 3 different heights and see if their entire body can fit within the dash and the middle line of your scope. If they fit in the smallest one its, they are 300 meters away and then 150 and 75 respectively .That's what those 3 lines are for.
3:28 Wrong. You can use the zeroing mechanic built into most rifles. With this rifle, set your zero to 150 and if you hit someone where you were aiming, that's the extent of your range. Now keep that zero at 150 forever and when there's someone nearby, aim slightly below them.
Another way to tell how far someone is to have the periscope. It will tell you exactly how far someone is and I find it really helpful when I'm playing a game mode with out the flags
@levelcap there is also another way to tell how far an enemy is. The trench periscope shows you the range on a slider on the right of the gadget while in use
I usually run this rifle to cover point B from point A and vice versa in operations, and it works if you are both attacking or defending. The cap points are usually 100 meters away from each other (so it's perfect for the sweet spot...yet sometimes the G98 works better, depends on the map)and so you can snipe people from the side, most of the time having your body and rifle covered by a wall, making you an invisible assassin for those poor souls that end up in your field of view. It's not aggressive sniping but allows you to clear medics and assault troops trying to jump on your team mates while keeping yourself safe from enemy eyes as well :D
The spotting scope actually has a range finder in the bottom right corner. I didnt know this for a while but if you dont have any flags near you you can use it to get some kind of reference
Lodeout episode mcree Primary-none Secondary-number 3 revolver Grenade- smoke Gadget 1- spot flair Gadget 2- flash flair for your flash bang. Aim for those headshots and remember use the fairs to spot your enemies and flash bang them when you Fan the hammer Good luck and remember it's high noon
Another good way to rangefind is to set your minimap distance. I was using the SMLE with a map radius of 75 meters and if the enemies were within the outer half of the MM I instantly knew I could OHK them
Hey levelcap I noticed in the last patch that they gave the binoculars a range finder mechanic. I used to use it when I played with no scope snipers but now it helps to find exactly where your sweet spot is
This weapon took some getting used to after using the scoped Winchester for so long, but it was worth it. Every kill with it feels like justice being served in a gritty horror film.
Best thing about the m1903 is that it has the least bullet drag, giving it the most consistent muzzle velocity out of all the rifles. People seem to just disregard that stat even though it's so impactful.
glad to know that I'm not crazy when I feel the sniping is very different from previous games. I didn't realize what it was but I'm glad you explained it. Another thing I've noticed is that I have a lot of trouble seeing where the bullets are actually hitting when I'm trying to get my range to adjust for drop off. previous games I didn't have any problem with this so I don't know if it's the game or if it's the fact that I'm now gaming on a 21:9 monitor with the game only at 16:9 resolution (ps4) but not being able to see the bullet hitting definitely makes things tough.
I have to agree 100% on the lack of tutorials. Watching your videos has been a huge learning experience for me as there's so much that isn't covered in the game. They have some info on their website, the campaign, and the loading screens but it's all so generic and sparse. It almost feels intentional tbh
I like the slight random factor that snipers don't get 100% kill every time. It's already a very annoyingly effective class as it is, thank you Dice, don't change it.
You should do the lout out of an Australian soldier this load out is the SMLE mk 3 infantry with either the automatic revolver or m1911 with grenade flare and k bullet Like if u agree and think level cap should do this
My play style as a sniper (considering how stupidly aggressive I am as assault) fits me fine for both close and long range. I run the Russian 1895 most of the time (its mainstream but I love it) and then the former stop, alongside K bullets and a spot flare. The former stop is great at taking out your be enemy and the quickly reloading to take out more and I have a problem with how much and how good I am at bayonet charging (773 kills and counting).
I wish I could use both types of flares. The K bullets are nice but I find I don't use them very often when I'm playing alone as I have to really coordinate to make them most effective. I think the blinding flare could have some cool uses on some maps to help push into areas.
i think the suppression mechanic is fantastic. I like knowing that I can increase my survivability by throwing suppression at a sniper who has no penalty for strafing left and right constantly. snipers can compete really well as is. nerfing the suppression mechanic would make no sense to me.
I think they should re-implement weapon specific battlepacks, so if you use a Gun alot maybe every Service Star you get a battlepack of Skins for only that weapon. that would be a cool way to reliably get Skins for guns you actually use
Here is my list of Sweet spots for every sniper besides the Martini Henry. I would add the Martini Henry to the list but I made this before I got the gun, and I'm to lazy to update it. M1903 (100m-150m) Russian 1895 (60m-100m) SMLE MKIII (40m-75m) Gewehr 98 (80m-125m)
There actually is a rangefinder on the scope on the far left. If the target is smaller than the first dash its farther than either 75m or 100m i cant remember which
I like suppression but I feel as though it should be more if you're taking shots and less the shots going around you. I feel that if I have an LMG and I get some long range hit markers on a sniper I don't think they should just be able to easily headshot me while bullets are actually hitting them. Otherwise I like suppression because it's the only thing that kind of give you the upper hand against a sniper at range
Do full auto whenever you are shooting light machine guns. Your accuracy improves over time. However, try not to hold the trigger too long unless you want you gun to overheat/jam which takes some time to fix before you get back to shooting.
Man M1903 is my favorite sniper, but I go agianst the grain on all of this advice. Playing on Conquest, always out of the sweet spot. Im either super far out, doing long range sniping. Or moving in on the objective, and end up closer in the heat of battle, using the flare to spot and kill enemies. Just go for headshots and sweet spot wont matter, plus you rack up so many more points.
whats really annoying is the weird bullet drop on snipers. 100-200m it goes almost completely straight and then it drops off so quickly. Thus, hitting the rock campers becomes a guessing game.
Nice information and thoughts on the sniper class, What are your DPI and ingame sensitivity for the sniper class? Do you have different sensetivitys or just a default for every class ?
After pretty much going all the way from rank 1 to rank 10 with the Scout class in 4 days, I can safely say that the sniping in BF1 is way better than in BF4. The rifles actually feel like they have weight behind the bullet, and actually hitting things seems to be easier due to the way the aiming works. I prefer it, anyway.
G98 is the better long range sniper in BF1 due to its higher velocity and closer sweet spot range. At most long distances sweet spot wont matter a whole lot so velocity is everything, and closer in sweet spots are more beneficial.
The bipod can be deployed only in prone or when peeking over a flat surface. The bipod's purpose is to steady the scope so that you are able to land shots on your enemies with a far higher accuracy. If you watch closely when you stand still looking down the scope of a sniper rifle, the scope continuously moves around in a sideways figure-eight pattern. This makes it difficult to lock on to your target. The bipod negates this effect. Hope this helps!
I would like to see throwback Thursday's or Tuesday's where you go back and play some old battlefields. BFBC2 BF3 and BF4
No.
Kaleb Cat good luck. both bfbc2 and b3 are full of dead servers
Why so negative? It's a good idea
Eh it's just a troll ignore him
+Pentog did you just assume my gender?
The trench periscope actually has a built in rangefinder. I use it to set myself up at the sweet spot range.

XiroCastGaming really how? I use the periscope justo to see the enemy without peaking my head but i never knew how to see the meters
You have to mark them
XiroCastGaming on the right of the scope
seriously..which server you join every time you play BF1, lvlcap? Your enemies literally either standing still or lying there prone like a log and taking their sweet ass time before decided to finally shoot at you.
he only uploads clips where he does really well. I guarantee theres a bunch of footage of him getting fucked up but obviously hes not gona upload that

I know right? If you're a sniper and you get surpressed you might as not have one, you can't shoot for shit.
While you are suppressed the scope sway is noticeable increase. this is the visual cue for suppression.
As far as my experience goes, on PS4 suppression makes the scope shake.
yeah it´s only a cue, but it´s not the suppression itself, which is random bullet spread :-/ very misleading
Marcel Pfister As someone who cut his teeth on the Red Orchestra 2 suppression mechanic, the Battlefield 1 mechanic just feels gentle at this point.

Have been watching a few of your recent videos so this was a good upload time.
I actually like that the game doesn't explain a lot of the mechanics it makes it more interesting
Levelcap not knowing that the periscope is a rangefinder goes to show how little research goes into his videos.
Level you can use the Trench Periscope as a rangefinder. When using it, you can see how far away something is, and find that sweet spot.
Good point. I'll have to roll with that when i use the 1903.
RankUpGaming beat me to it. I use the trench periscope and the spot flare with the scout class. I use the Gewehr 98 Marksman for smaller maps in TDM and the 1903 for operations or TDM in Sinai desert. Medic classes are very OP if used properly as well.

Rene Rios huh? Is the Gewehr 98 Marksman for close range?
Trench periscope = Rangefinder. There is a gauge on the right side of the periscope that measures distance. Surprised no one ever mentions this?! Great way to know if you're positioned right for the sweet spot!

I think the sweet spot mechanic is broken. I thought the sweet spot for the 1903 was 100-150 m ?

Thanks for that little tip
The Hash Slinging Slasher Oh I'll give you a little tip...
LOCO808 I'm sorry to hear that
3:28 Wrong. You can use the zeroing mechanic built into most rifles. With this rifle, set your zero to 150 and if you hit someone where you were aiming, that's the extent of your range. Now keep that zero at 150 forever and when there's someone nearby, aim slightly below them.

THIS GUY IS A BEAST HE MAKES THINGS LOOK SO EASY
Guys, the periscope tells you the exact distance between you and everything else. Don't use flags lol.
Random Guy it does? Thx
Random Guy I still use flags. I find them very useful. Also helps if you wanna use a different gadget than the periscope.
Capon Crunch yes the trench periscope does tell u range
Random Guy So what do you want me to do?Pull it out to see if a guy is in good range for a 1 shot kill and then kill him?
Emperor Palpatine Exactly
This weapon took some getting used to after using the scoped Winchester for so long, but it was worth it. Every kill with it feels like justice being served in a gritty horror film.
really thought Level is gonna get a triple collateral kill there 9:18. So close so close. Nice Vid man as always
Best thing about the m1903 is that it has the least bullet drag, giving it the most consistent muzzle velocity out of all the rifles. People seem to just disregard that stat even though it's so impactful.

You can also use the trench periscope to judge how far away you are from your enemy to help you find your weapons sweet spot.
With the scout spottool you can easily spot any distance to every object in the game
If you use the trench periscope wherever you look it shows you the exact range
Good vid man!
You havent even seen it yet...
you can use the periscope for the distance.on the right it shows you how far away the thing is what you are looking for.
LevelCap finally gets to the best sniper in the game... The M1903!!!
I love the mars automatic side arm for the scouts. Great weapon.
I find myself gravitating towards the revolver sidearms. Despite the slow reload, I love the 2 shot kills up close.
I have to agree 100% on the lack of tutorials. Watching your videos has been a huge learning experience for me as there's so much that isn't covered in the game. They have some info on their website, the campaign, and the loading screens but it's all so generic and sparse. It almost feels intentional tbh
if you use the trench parascope it has a little thing on the right hand side
thereare precisely 4 ways to correctly judge distance in this game:
1:objective distance
2:spotting scopes
3:marksman bonus point=distance
4:minimap radius
I like the slight random factor that snipers don't get 100% kill every time. It's already a very annoyingly effective class as it is, thank you Dice, don't change it.
Use the trench periscope, and when zoomed in look on the right, it says how far you are from where you are shooting.
you can also use periscope on camping enemys or prone enemys to find the distance between you and the enemy
You should do the lout out of an Australian soldier this load out is the SMLE mk 3 infantry with either the automatic revolver or m1911 with grenade flare and k bullet

The former stop is great at taking out your be enemy and the quickly reloading to take out more and I have a problem with how much and how good I am at bayonet charging (773 kills and counting).
The trench periscope actually has a rangefinder on the right. I have no idea how dice justifies it but yeah it has a range finder.
There is a distant marker on your sniper scope and you can use the trench periscope the figure out the distance.
Use the experimental variant for iron sights. In a recent update they made it act like the general Liu rifle
I wish I could use both types of flares. The K bullets are nice but I find I don't use them very often when I'm playing alone as I have to really coordinate to make them most effective. I think the blinding flare could have some cool uses on some maps to help push into areas.
I just love the scout in Battlefield 1 it's probably the best class in my opinion I can go anywhere from 60-80 kills in one ops
+LevelCapGaming you can use v to edit your scope and you see the distance
i think the suppression mechanic is fantastic. I like knowing that I can increase my survivability by throwing suppression at a sniper who has no penalty for strafing left and right constantly. snipers can compete really well as is. nerfing the suppression mechanic would make no sense to me.
Btw you do have an object to use to find the range the trench periscope tells you the range for those who don't know
I saw that sly cut at 2:10 Level, you ain't slick
I think they should re-implement weapon specific battlepacks, so if you use a Gun alot maybe every Service Star you get a battlepack of Skins for only that weapon. that would be a cool way to reliably get Skins for guns you actually use
Honestly pretty good idea, I've gotten almost every legendary skin for every gun except for the Mondragon
Here is my list of Sweet spots for every sniper besides the Martini Henry. I would add the Martini Henry to the list but I made this before I got the gun, and I'm to lazy to update it.
M1903 (100m-150m)
Russian 1895 (60m-100m)
SMLE MKIII (40m-75m)
Gewehr 98 (80m-125m)
I use the flare and the trench pariscope the pariscope is good for concealing yourself while spotting
Still mad I didn't get that c93 general skin and I got stuck with the chancellor
There actually is a rangefinder on the scope on the far left. If the target is smaller than the first dash its farther than either 75m or 100m i cant remember which
U can kinda use the periscope: it gives you how far away something is on the side.
3:16 sums up how OP levelcap is at BF1
I like suppression but I feel as though it should be more if you're taking shots and less the shots going around you. I feel that if I have an LMG and I get some long range hit markers on a sniper I don't think they should just be able to easily headshot me while bullets are actually hitting them. Otherwise I like suppression because it's the only thing that kind of give you the upper hand against a sniper at range
You can actually use the trench binoculars/periscope @LevelCapGaming to get distances quite easily :)
Sorry that this is unrelated to the video but should I fire the sentry lmg full auto, burst fire, or semi auto?
Tactical Guerrilla It seems to never work for me the way I want it to.
Full-Auto. It takes a second for the accuracy to fall into line. Just hold the trigger down till it goes click.
Do full auto whenever you are shooting light machine guns. Your accuracy improves over time. However, try not to hold the trigger too long unless you want you gun to overheat/jam which takes some time to fix before you get back to shooting.
And at 1:20 you can see LevelCap totally failing at saving his buddy from a knife attack. Lmao
you can use the trench periscope for range it shows the range when you look trough it
Love the channel,good videos🤙🏼
The periscope binocs will show you distance and will highlight enemy targets.
That M1911 is just perfect
Very good gameplay man!
Great vid levelcap
John Kuckelman haven't even watched the whole damn thing
May have been said already, but periscope gives you exact range to spotted target
You forgot to mention the best part of this rifle; the sexy bolt animation.
you know the trench peroscope (think I spelled that wrong) tells you the range right?
After pretty much going all the way from rank 1 to rank 10 with the Scout class in 4 days, I can safely say that the sniping in BF1 is way better than in BF4. The rifles actually feel like they have weight behind the bullet, and actually hitting things seems to be easier due to the way the aiming works. I prefer it, anyway.
Hey LevelCap! The trench periscope has a range finder built into it I believe.
I wonder if using K bullets on the Experimental has a sweet spot like normal rifles.
Love being able to essentially have 2 primaries.
G98 is the better long range sniper in BF1 due to its higher velocity and closer sweet spot range. At most long distances sweet spot wont matter a whole lot so velocity is everything, and closer in sweet spots are more beneficial.
what's the A in front of the sniper is a bipot pls correct me if I'm wrong what is it youse for
The bipod can be deployed only in prone or when peeking over a flat surface.
What is your favorite sniper rifle? I dont know which one to pick
Russian 1895 Sniper for life
Martini henry for me
+Loke Ytell No.
I like the Russian sniper and the fromer stop, spotting flare and normal a he trip mine good for map control
+Awildcheeto honestly only when I play scout I try to use historically accurate load outs.
the m1903 reminds me of the m98b... both made for long range and the bolt animation on the m1903 is kinda like the m98b's
Try shooting flare up really high so it can spot larger radius of enemies
Im trying to learn to snipe now. Man it's so hard but I was wondering, how important is holding your breath?
Shroud The Wicked not at all unless extreme long range
