[Review] Ruizu X06 : A Bluetooth mp3 player for under 20$?!

- This is the Ruizu X06 a cheap digital mp3 player that alongside a study body to be able to keep up with na active lifestyle, presents us with Bluetooth capabilities, which means you will be able to use this mp3 player at the gym or everywhere you need a player with wireless capabilities.
The sound quality is pretty decent, resembling a Sansa Clip + with more low end and a bit less detail on the higher frequencies. Unfortunately the user interface is kind of unintuitive, which is a big letdown for me at least (or anyone who values the ease of use). You don’t lose any kind of quality over Bluetooth (comparing to other Bluetooth devices) and you got a battery that lasts almost 2 weeks!
All in all a good buy, but if you wanna make this your main mp3 player I would advise spending a bit more for something with a better user interface.

I have the 8Gb version and I have been using it for almost 3 years and it still works. Ruizu X06 has an excellent battery life and yeah just like what you said unintuitive user interface. What can you expect more for a cheap price. Ruizu X06 is a nice deal indeed.
Indeed, it was a nice bargain! Benjie also seems to provide cheap DAP, might be worth a try.

You need to download the TH-cam video and then put it into the Ruizu
cannot get it to connect to the pc,to download songs
in comparison with a shuffle, how much would you rate the sound quality?
The Ruizu x06 is warmer and a tiny bit less detailed. It depends on what you prefer
I have question why when i have around 30-40 cds downloaded.The order of the songs change.like 14 2 10 3.this my second and they both did it.but it is agreat mp3 player.
It orders by the time it was moved and not by filename. I think I fixed it by going into Music then Albums.

It is what you would expect for 20$ device that also has bluetooth capabilties. The sound is good and reproduced nicely, while having a bias to warmen the sound up.

Is it sweat resistant? I’m tired of using my bulky phone at the gym and was interested in this but I wanna know if it has any sweat resistance. Plz respond
I mean, if you keep the phone in a pocket and drop some sweat on it it will last no problem. If you keep the Ruizu between your waistband and your skin there might be some issues though....

Not sure, but it lasts a lot, over 40hours in play time!

I know how to pair the bluetooth with my other devices. Still, can you please show me a demonstration on how to pair bluetooth with this device. (I almost sent it back because I couldn't set up the bluetooth. Hoping to hear from you soon. :)
Hello so what was the issue? Can you get your devices into pairing mode and go into the bluetooth menu of the Ruizu?

I've tried some files, as it isn't a format I use, and it seemed to reproduce them flawlessly.
@@InsideTheGeeks IIRC .m4a files are AAC and it does not list AAC as a supported format.
@@Cobalt985 I'm pretty sure I listened to some AAC albums on the Ruizu X06. Just not sure if it will play AAC over bluetooth

Nice video, It's 2020 now and I have RUIZU X06, I had it over a year. Can you connect it to a phone (I think no) But can you please answer, if not it's ok, it's not that important anyways
Hello, the bluetooth is just for audio out, which means you can only connect it to headphones or bluetooth speakers. What kind of phone connectivity were you expecting?

@@olesjagascenko1001 Not possible as far as I know. You could connect the phone to your computer, connect the ruizu at the same time and then drag the files from the Samsung to the Ruizu.

Thank you for the great review. I just ordered one of this because my previous RUIZU X02 version died (i let the battery drain and i didn't recharge immediately which is a definite death sentence).
I see that the IU is almost identical which i have no problem with. The only thing i didn't understand in your review is about the folder ....? "Sometimes it won't come back where you were playing"? Did you mean that it won't resume from the point you turned it off? For me the folder function is the most important since i got this for audiobooks and podcast which are all very long files. I keep them all organized in different folders. If it doesn't resume that'll be a huge problem for me. Would you please clarify if that's the problem with yours or did you mean something else? Thank you in advance! :-)
Yeah sometimes it doesn't restart from where it left off and I don't really understand why. I think this player works better with playlists than it does with folders.
Thanks for the reply :-) I already got mine and it works good. If you want to make sure it resumes where you turned it off you must use the middle button "1-2-3" to turn it off. I also always make sure that the side on-off button also turned off. Everything works the same as my previous RUIZU X02 did. The only thing i couldn't find if it has a locking function...? Do you know if it has it by any chance? It would be nice if it did but couldn't find it even in the instruction book. I am also confused about the Bluetooth function, but i won't be using that a lot. Do you know if it really accepts 64gb micro sd card?
I've used a 64 gig micro sd card without issues, as for the locking function I've never found it as well, but it isn't bad cause you need one touch to wake the screen up at first.

Why do none of these X06 reviews mention that you cannot lock the keypad during playback - drives me crazy! Other than that, it's decent - great sound, battery life 35-37hrs (100 is a marketing lie) and rugged. Though BT sounds good, you cannot listening to aac/ogg etc. files with it, just the usual mp3/wma stuff - which sucks.

Unfortunately you cannot play radio over bluetooth.
I found a answer to be tested: Knowing that RUIZU is a sub-brand of AGPTek, I found the RUIZU X06 is a clone of the "AGPTek A06". In the A06 manual we can find this:
follow menu : FM radio -> Users -> Select any frequency -> Click button M -> Bluetooth link -> pair device
To be tested on RUIZU X06 ;-)
It does indeed work, wasn't expecting it to pair since there wasn't any option in the Bluetooth menu! Thanks for the heads up! Unfortunately you still need a pair of regular earphones plugged in to have any reception while using the Bluetooth headphones, as the regular ones cable acts as an antenna!

I'm pretty sure you can, I've done it with a C4 Cactus and it worked out alright!

Most of the chinese shops are like that, they want to make you feel that you are saving when they are just selling the product at the normal price.
Yes do not waste $19 it's no good the firmware is defective. Note even this review says the user interface is horrible. Take its advice and get a Sansa instead.

Unfortunately not! But for the price I got pretty nice mileage out of it.

Battery life is one of the best perks of the ruizu, easily 20 hours at least playing music :)

I am rather disappointed with this product because the sound level is far from ruizu x08 my first mp3 player... This one is not too loud when you use earphone even in the max level compare to ruizu x08 :(
@Ahmet Emin yes.... For me its louder x08 if you using the original headset or any cheap onew but this one also can have nicer sound if you buy better headset... The headset must be good if not x08 better sound.
At 6 months old, three of the five buttons inside have failed - one of them permanently short circuit, so the device can no longer be used.
In my opinion - don't buy!
Henryk Wydra - Not really. I had a Ruizu X06 for three years, but it eventually failed, and I got another one, which turned out to be a later model, re-designed in some small details. I really liked it, but it didn't last - because of one of the small details. See my video...

Because I have been using this type of player for the last 3 1/4 years, I don't have any experience of any of the new players that have appeared since then.
IF something thats used everyday and costs 20$ with a nice sound quality cannot be recommended... I guess it just depends on your opinion, but you won't get something with this sound and battery life for a similar price. Even if it lasts for only one year
Yes, I have a certain sympathy with your view, but there are two considerations - 1) I looked up the sale on Ebay, and it turned out to be in mid-march, which means it wasn't six months old, but only 3 months.
2) Whenever somebody buys something, they have an expectation of how long it will last. My daughter bought a wedding dress with the expectation that it would be worn only once, and she accepted its value as such. However, this is my third Ruizu X06. The first one failed after two days and the seller sent me another one, but that one lasted three years, and when it failed, it was due to my own use of it, and I accepted that. Ideally treated, it would probably have lasted much longer. However, the new model has had some redesign, probably in reaction to bad reviews of the buttons on the previous model, which were not very precise. See my video at

My current one has not been mistreated, so I expected it to last longer than my previous one, which was doing fine after three years, till I killed it. This one simply has sub-standard switches in it.

You are supposed to use an online video converter to dowload them, have yuo done that?
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I BOUGHT THIS CRAP LAST YEAR AND IT DID NOT EVEN LAST ONE YEAR. IT CRASHES AND TURNS ON AND OFF BY ITSELF AND SOFTWARE ISSUES WITH THE PROGRAM.
The quality control obviously isn't great but mine lasted one year and three months before actually dying. So for 20$ and everyday use I think it is pretty good. My sansa clip+ also never lasted more than 2 years and that is costing over 40$
Ricky Castro you need to take of the sd card (if youre using one) if not leave it in a safe place for 1 week....
My Sansa Clip (original) lasted... wait, 7 years? Actually It still works, I just changed the battery... but the OLED screen died off now :)
So it is suspicious even if cheap mp3player like ruizu dies so soon. Might be just cheap QA? They need to save money somewhere, right... Battery would be an easy one (and easy to fix), but could be anything.
Ruizu has horrible problems with their firmware. My Ruizu x26 came with defective software. There is no support website, no Ruizu website for that matter and no warranty. All the playlist functionality shown here simply does not exist while using Bluetooth. Ruizu, if you're reading this, I suggest that you find a way to take care of your customers because I'm posting this everywhere your name is mentioned. Read the one star reviews on Amazon to find out what is wrong with your product(s). Open source the firmware to github if you need help. Because at this rate no one will want your products.

I don't think it's stupid and cheap. The bluetooth is there because this is a sporty device from Ruizu, therefore giving you the possibility to use wireless headphones in a gym environment for example.
