I'm thinking my blazing Hayes 2400 modem cost more than a month's big city rent back then. And that's still around what 4 months of unlimited Starlink would cost.

Great job as always... I can imagine the next step for speed will be a hybrid of increased signal tech and laser tech... due to cloud cover at times, I don't believe they'll go completely laser tech
Imagine what those high frequencies are doing to the OZONE layer. Man O' man... Great speeds, but imagine the frequency disruption Space X is promulgating.
A whole new paradigm... Terabit speeds? What would that do for daily life? I don't use what I've got, but a speed boost like that will GENERATE new ways of using that bandwidth that we can't imagine. Looking forward to it!!😊
I have Starlink service at our vacation rental home. The speed is about 80-140 Mbps down and 20-30 Mbps up. Streaming has been almost perfect. Years ago I asked myself, why would I want to get rid of my 300lb CRT Huge 32" TV for an expensive LED HD TV. 🤔 How things change! I don't know if there are any TV repair shops anymore. 😅
Ooooh boy, Gigabit Starlink will be amazing. I'm having a serious Osborne effect vibe right now....should I buy another v3 dish to replace my v2 now, or wait until they have a gigabit-capable one?
I installed rural internet for a living. I find the 2 main issues Starlink has is overcapacity. In many issues, some speeds as low as 5 or 10 mbps. And also people really just wanna pay thier internet bill and forget about it. They don't like having to troubleshoot themselves, or install it themselves. Although it looked like starlink was going to be the way the future. It has certainly started to look more and more like every other internet company. Not a bad product. But definitely not revaluationary. I'd also like to make another note in regards to over capacity. I have access to the coverage map program for all internet companies in North America. starlink shows stop cells or over capacity in almost every cell.
my question is how the POPs [ground stations] are going to handle the speeds? In the PNW the Seattle POPs down/up speeds are all over the place. Not holding my breath ... thanks for the update Joseph
I get your frustration with AT&T. A large part of our city is wired w/fiber however, the senior's apartment is still on Uverse. 😢 It is shame. I went w/T-Mobile‐-not going to get 1 TB down, but at least it's a fee I live with.
This is great news even if i absolutly have no issues at all with my gen 2 set up. I am considering buying a gen 3 set up as a back up if i ever have issues with my gen 2 router.
Thank you again for the continued news. I would like to comment this is great news, more speed, more data. Going back to Al older video you posted on Router protection I was able to look at your comments and some pinned comments. I have looked at suggested routers and I was budget restricted and opted for Google Nest Wifi Pro 3. I plan to set the WPA3 protocol. My son just upgraded to this and will assist me on install. Not sure if it is the best thing to do but it deletes my TPLink equipment (router and extension via their wifi extenders) I continue to read and re read your advice comments and will try incorporating as many as I am able in my new setup.
I have heard 60 Satellites/launch for Starship version2 but that will probably double with Starship version3. Flight 7 will be simulated satellites they need to actually be going to Orbit to lunch the real ones.
Not sure if it was a fluke or they were testing something but I recently went to download a game and was hitting near gigabit speeds for about a minute (80MB down) before it throttled back down. I'm excited for the future!
That analysis makes sense! If the girth and mass is the same as the real satellites, and they are successful- we can make accurate assumptions regarding operations of an operational system. We already know the communications work on these. It appears the test is about confirmation of this particular payload into LEO.
I have Starlink now in Jamaica. I usually get about 150 Mb/s and can stream 4k video. I download large (multi-GB) torrents in 5-10 minutes. I don't why I would need higher speed unless I were to sell WiFi access to my neighbours.
Hi Joe, it sounds like you imply that a Starlink user can have a 1Tbps service. I believe that the 1Tbps speed is shared between all the users that connect to that satellite at any given time. Am I wrong? Still, a very impressive leap in technology and capabilities. I'm wondering how that Starlink upgrade compares to the latest from the competition (China, Bezos).
Love your videos. I watch a lot of videos where people are living in their model Y's and use STarlink mini for internet. My hope is in a few years my wife and I can use a Tesla in this way to travel cross country. The speed of 1K Gbps is a game changer.
I use the Starlink 2 motor articulated dish with the added Ethernet connection cable and I just ordered the generation 3 Mesh router to begin adding wireless connectivity to other parts of my property. I will start with this one mesh router and build out from there. It’s been reported that only 3 mesh routers can be added but that should cover all I need anyway area wise.
What type of speed do you think the mini will achieve? I’ve had mine for maybe 3/4 months and I can’t be happier with it, just wish the price wasn’t as steep. But I can actually use it unlike my old hotspot
Great news if they achieve it, hell right during peak hours we are getting 10-20 mbps down in north central florida. They over sold are area and speeds have been declining over the last 3 months. I just want 100mbps down like they promised. We had speeds higher 2 years ago when we got our starlink.
Thanks again for the great video, please may you assist with how Starlink v2 mini backhaul gets to the 1.3Tbps combined backhaul capacity. I am using the following (3 lasers x 200Gbps ) + (3 x 100G E-band) + (3 x 20ka band) = 600 + 300 + 60 = 960Gbps
I’m averaging 44 latency in the Dominican Republic. I hope they improve that I’m not sure why it’s so high. I think it’s just an adjustment. Maybe they just don’t have the clientele there and they are giving it to us at a super reduced rate $48 a month US dollar so I’m really not complaining
Satelite internet will be not for rural alone anymore it will be the default this might take out many ISP locally. Coz every next version is mind blowing..imaging we get to v4
This is great news! I live in an area where they do not plan on running any high-speed int. any time soon, so Starlink is our best choice! And as of now it's ok.. not great especially when you got 3 young boys gaming, youtubing, ect. Trying to watch football can be painful.. ha ha One thing I wonder will we need new equipment to take full advantage of these new speeds? I believe I have the Gen 2 Home..
Don't forget, they just ruled internet access/service is not a utility, expect higher prices, data caps, different tiers, throttling connection depending on content you are accessing etc.
1tb will be required because AI service is expected to connect wireless devices to vertually real time. This will be a phone, watch, car, home, and many different tools that we may not have evented yet or thought of.
I would like to use Starlink exclusively but it's not cost effective. I have Starlink RV, which I love, but at $175/mo, when I get home from camping, I don't want to pay $175/mo, when my home service is currently $70. I wish Starlink would let you switch to Home when not RVing and pay less, then charge me the $175 when roaming. From Nov to April I suspend my Starlink and use my home internet. Starlink then looses about $450 in that 6 month period. It would be better for Starlink to charge less when at home, and still get revenue. JMO Good video content !
Data shows that Starlink was able to achieve a capacity of 350 Tbps in 5 years. Given the capacity of Starship and V3 Starlink satellites of 60 Tbps, this implies that they will be able to double the 5-year capacity in a little over 5 launches. Considering the allocation of 25 Starlink launches annually, this translates to approximately 2.5 months if launches are evenly spaced throughout the year. My question is whether ground capacity will be able to keep pace with this massive increase. A single Starship mission with V3 Starlink will provide a capacity almost equivalent to an undersea cable. The next question pertains to the need for community gateways. The current capacity of community gateways is around 10 Gbps using KA band. Can we expect to see E-band gateways with up to 400 Gbps downlink and 100 Gbps upload? This would be a significant leap and provide immense benefits for maritime and remote areas
Doesn’t starlink have plenty of customers to actually lower the monthly costs, unless they will start charging the 120 for the 1GB and lower at low speeds
I don’t know what’s going on with my Starlink. They sent me a replacement. Gen 2 twice because I had the round one and my speeds are terrible. I don’t know what’s going on. so we have high speed out my way now I will probably switch can’t put up with it anymore.

Trying to watch football can be painful.. ha ha
One thing I wonder will we need new equipment to take full advantage of these new speeds?
JMO
Good video content !
Joseph Cristina, I heard a # cruncher say that 6 starship launches of generation 3 satellites will double starlink's capacity. I hope he's right!
Starlink gets better by the day 🚀 🛰️ 🍌
👍🏻
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ready & waiting for Gigabit speeds :)
Thank You Mr. Musk & Staff,
Your entrepreneurial spirit, motivation and dedication to making the world a better place. 🙌🙏
God Bless ✝️
Probably won't see it for another year or two.
Bring on the 1000 gbps, but more $$ a month???? 😎
More,more, more 😂😂😂
Satellite TV is about a go out of business if they don't cut the price.
I heard China sub orbital system is into high res, 6G! Do you know anything about this system!
❤
🚀
Version 3 satellite 🛰️👍🏼
Doesn’t starlink have plenty of customers to actually lower the monthly costs, unless they will start charging the 120 for the 1GB and lower at low speeds
I don’t know what’s going on with my Starlink. They sent me a replacement. Gen 2 twice because I had the round one and my speeds are terrible. I don’t know what’s going on. so we have high speed out my way now I will probably switch can’t put up with it anymore.
