Did you see the size of windshield wiper on this vehicle? Dang!! It’s huge. As much as this truck cost, Elon probably wants to through Starlink to it. I’m glad he can support the devastated area. Thanks for sharing the video.
Amateur radio operator here. As long as you're using a suction cup mount and it's pointing up through the glass roof you should be fine. I would recommend mounting the antenna over the back seats a little further away from your head. The vast majority of the RF radiation emitted from the antenna will be going vertical. Phased Array Antennas have about a 160° spread of RF Radiation coming out of their antenna. The fcc's maximum RF output allowed for microwave frequency handheld radios is 5 watts. The starlink mini dish outputs a maximum of only 4 watts of microwave radiation. TLDR: Point the antenna side away from you and you should be fine. 😉
They should. I used to think that was the plan. So either Elon is hiding the idea or has different thoughts. Maybe like direct to cell technology. Gwynne Shotwell uses starlink on her drive. So why not...
JC. I wonder if you can run a demo on SS7. Explaining how telcos communicate with eachother. The address scheme and how you can pay into it to become part of the the network. This gives you unfertered access to all messages, videos and phone calls. This is why 5G was inplemented. To replace this issue. Unfortunately SS7 is still the standard between networks.

This is one of those things that sounds good on paper but not in practice. This would force the owners of the Tesla vehicles to pay $100 plus a month for service. Don't get distracted by the fact that Telsa and Starlink are separate companies; Starlink would need to be compensated for providing the service. That said, I think Tesla could strike a deal with Starlink to provide service at a lower cost.

Has anyone else had this issue and how did they solve it ? Thank you 🙏
Tesla vehicles are already equipped for this. They use the cell network to get data, and Starlink can talk directly to cell phones. Its provided via Tmobile. Starlink satellites are effectively cell phone towers. The only thing they can't do is connect with a large number of phones and connect within buildings, both of which Elon is solving by launching more satellites with cell phone capability and more power.
these fires would not be that much of an issue if people out there would not build out of flammable materials. california is essentially fire territory and the ecology is adapted to it, shame humans are not.
@patryn36 I live in England. Since the great fire of London in 1665, stone and brick are almost exclusively used in houses. Californians must be slow learners.
Musk has helped with Puerto Rico and Florida hurricanes with his power walls and recent Starlink. He has helped Ukraine people suppling internet when Putin turned land based internet off. Starlink spreading knowledge worldwide with free speech thru X!!
What I think you’re saying is whether Newsome can swallow his political ego enough to practically help the California victims and responders in this tragedy. We’ll see. As for Starlink in Teslas I think that makes great sense. Musk is not an idiot at business. The question is whether a Starlink provides increased product value in a Tesla over its cost. I think the answer is an astounding yes!
Forcing companies, schools, medical institutions, armies, fire departments, police departments, etc. to hire using a quota and race instead of qualifications can get people hurt and killed. It also hurts the individuals who seem to benefit from it.
And perhaps 2-3 times every day, each of those Cybertrucks wod have to go dark, run off to a charger, and be replaced by another active truck. You've still got to get power in to the equipment. With a diesel genset and a fuel buffalo (5,000 gallon trailer tank) you could run portable equipment non-stop for two weeks, then just bring a larger 10,000 gallon standard fuel truck around for uninterrupted refueling. The Cybertrucks are flashy--but the wrong way to provide long term solutions.
Nah, the battery in them is a minimum of 85kWh and up to 123Wh. If they used the high capacity one and say use 50kwh for driving the truck, that would leave 73kWh. Apparently the Standard disk uses about 1Kwh of power a day. This means that it would be a couple of months of capacity. With a bit more custom work, you could add a 400 watt solar panel or 2 in the back and a telescopic pole antenna (to increase coverage) and it should be able to run continuously. The biggest problem would be theft risk. I do think this solution is an expensive way of doing things though.
There is nothing wrong with "Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action, or DEI" when they are used to bring disenfranchised individuals into useful occupations to learn and grow within those environments. They should NEVER be used to place anyone into a position of leadership or great responsibility based solely on what they are. DEI-DIE when unqualified people are put in positions of leadership and lives could be on the line based on their lack of ability to perform their duties.

Newsom states all the reservoirs were full until the press asked about the palisades reservoir. He then stated I was talking about state reservoirs. Talking about disinformation! He cherry picks issues
Newsome has to go, because he constantly putting personal ideology ahead of the people of his state. As for Elon, Cybertruck, Starlink. I do wish Elon would learn the lesson from "Fuel cell is Fool cells". The five words that set the stage for the destruction of the Japanese auto industry. Cybertruck & Starlink are resources that can be used to help those in need.
pertaining to the question about star link and teslas, no. if you want it then that is all you, i do not. elon will not make it eady to hack and i doubt he would ever enable the givernment to remotely control. that being said, you all are completely brain dead on these new cars and evs, you are incorporating multiple points that can be used to steal car/data or for governments to control everything. i will stick to the older tech, only have to worry about supply issues and emps, no hacking or remote controls.

Newsome continues his blaming and finger pointing versus accepting responsibility and fixing the issues. Defending police defending the fire department and funding border patrols. Where did all that money go?
Newsom states all the reservoirs were full until the press asked about the palisades reservoir. He then stated I was talking about state reservoirs. Talking about disinformation! He cherry picks issues
Newsome has to go, because he constantly putting personal ideology ahead of the people of his state. As for Elon, Cybertruck, Starlink. I do wish Elon would learn the lesson from "Fuel cell is Fool cells". The five words that set the stage for the destruction of the Japanese auto industry. Cybertruck & Starlink are resources that can be used to help those in need.

DEI as a factor in first responder selection is BAD
BAD and SAD
Judge not by the color of their skin (or insert other divisive tribalism here), but by the content (ability) of their character.
Exactly.
pertaining to the question about star link and teslas, no. if you want it then that is all you, i do not. elon will not make it eady to hack and i doubt he would ever enable the givernment to remotely control. that being said, you all are completely brain dead on these new cars and evs, you are incorporating multiple points that can be used to steal car/data or for governments to control everything. i will stick to the older tech, only have to worry about supply issues and emps, no hacking or remote controls.
Yes there is good and bad with everything
@@marklaffey7972 it is far more subtle than that in scope. the more easy you include the more weakness you encourage, the ones who are criminal prey on weakness.
Seems to me it would be easy to defeat if it bothers you, tinfoil hatwise
STARLINK in the car would make the yearly charge for connectivity more palatable.
@@The_DuMont_Network unless it is made necessary for the vehicle to function, first step in that is to include as an option, whole slowly turning up the heat to boil the proverbial frog. It is not the company's trend that is the issue, it is society's.
