Thanks for providing such insights in quant world. It will be much helpful if you provide a detailed roadmap (step-by-step) to quants. Again thanks a lot.
That's why I would always say IITians rock everywhere. I am proud to be from IIT too, and I am looking to explore the finance domain; I am going to ping you to get advice for doing a master's in finance from a foreign university as I am from the non-economics department. Thank you for this great video
Great info and subscribed. You touched on CFA, but do you think it worth the effort to get the certfication for quant with very little background in finance?
Hi John, CFA is great to have finance background knowledge, but it is not necessary. Once I did CFA level 1 and 2, it would not make you feel alienated in the industry given you shall have broad understanding
hii sir i am currently 3rd year student from a tier 3 college but i have wasted 2 years of my btech now , please guide a little bit and give a roadmap so that i can start from scratch level
Can you tell how many opportunities are there for someone whos a fresh graduate and looking for quant jobs? Can you make a video on it? How to find and prepare for these companies?
Thank you sir fir this video...this was veey helpful. I am incoming student fordham msqf 24. What is the reputation of this course? As a industry practitioner how likely are you to hire students from this course?
Anything is possible. You may have to pursue unconventional paths like acing the competitions hosted by funds on kaggle etc., working part time for any projects offered by the hedge funds. Also think about pursuing a degree in financial engg. Or stats or maths or Operations research or CS from a top tier college
Could you make videos on masters if possible in computer science in the USA and how it'll help in breaking into the quantitative development space? And, I've noticed that in India atleast quant firms are very biased towards candidates from top schools. Is it the same in the USA as well?
Hi! Thanks for information, was veryy helpful! Is it necessary to have prior experience for entry roles? I know all of these topics from my masters, but now I don’t use these tools in my daily job. I would like to switch to quant analytics. My work experience is only 1 year, I graduated last year
Hi, Yw! Relevant experience helps a lot, but not always necessary. Relevant experience could also be gained from less known funds or sell side quant roles.
How much does the degree from elite schools matter for quant firms ? 99% of the LinkedIn profiles I see for quant roles are generally from elite schools in India, China or US.... How can a non ivy league student stand a chance to land an interview?
They tend to incline towards ivy league but you can enter into these funds by doing well in other avenues of hiring like competitions, projects and part time opportunities.
Thank you for sharing such a valuable information . As someone who hails from a non-prestigious college in India, I have a question. I've noticed that many high-frequency trading firms and hedge funds tend to only consider candidates from IIT. What steps can I take to overcome this challenge and increase my chances of being shortlisted for an interview? Your insight is greatly appreciated.
Ace the competitions hosted by hedge funds on kaggle etc. this should definitely help . Else pursue a quant dev role where the skills are transferrable. Can move to quant research role internally

Thanks for your suggestion. Yes the inclination is similar. Though you can cover it up with experience in mid-small sized firms with similar roles.

You are very self critical
I suppose that is a complement :)
Any possibility for tier 2 cs students to get there if they have been working in top product based companies in c++ roles
